"Can we not have this child?" he slowly bent down, his gaze level with hers as she sat on the bed. "Mabel, I never intended to have a child. This pregnancy was an accident. Can we abort the child? We will still live well without a child."

She could hardly believe what he was saying. He... he doesn’t want this child?! "You mean... you want to abort our child?" Her voice was trembling.

But his words felt like the sharpest ice skate, piercing her all over, hurting far more than the injuries she suffered from the car accident. "Yes, I said that if, in our entire life, we didn’t have children, I would still be with you, but now things are different. Now that I’m already pregnant, don’t you want to see our child born?"

"There’s no need for a child between you and me." His voice softened even more.
