Chapter 244: I’ll Wait For You
Chapter 244: I’ll Wait For You
Christopher gazed at Natalia’s soft and flushed sleeping face in his arms, a soft smile came to his lips.
She stirred in her sleep, then her eyes slowly opened to look up at him. A soft smile curled her lips as she reached her hand to caress his face again.
"What?" he asked.
"You should never hide a face that looks this good," she muttered again.
She raised her head, laying on his chest to look into his eyes. "Really?"
"Of course I’d like that very much, but..." she trailed off as if in thought.
"But what?"
Christopher caressed her hair. "Alright, I’ll climb a wall of spikes if I have to, as long as you can be mine."
"What’s your ideal first date?" Christopher asked.
The night passed by slowly, but to both of them, who spent all the long hours talking and getting to know every detail about each other, it passed like just a span of a few minutes.
"Natalia..." Christopher called softly. She was laying on his chest, seemingly exhausted. Her eyes were slowly closing, but she could still hear him.
Christopher placed a gentle kiss on the top of her head. "Wait for me, okay? I’ll come for you, and I’ll surely make you mine."
He knew that he couldn’t be here for people to come find them together. Still, he wasn’t planning to show his face to everyone. He knew if her friends came to know that she had spent the night with him, it would ruin her name and spread rumors about her, so he decided to leave before her friends would be there.
Though he knew she had been inebriated, he could still feel that she was more than willing with him the moment she had called his name before kissing him. It assured him that she’d wanted him because it was him and no one else.
"Christopher?" she called. Her eyes were not open as she gazed up at him. "Where are you going?"
"I’m sorry, I have to leave now," he said after breaking the kiss.
"I promise I will. Wait for me, okay?"
Christopher kissed her forehead, his dark eyes showing reluctance to leave her like that. However, he later steeled himself. Grabbing his clothes and putting them on, he headed towards the door. He stopped before pulling the door open to look back at her. Her beautiful honey gold eyes still looked slightly dazed as she stared at him unsteadily, but she smiled at him. Christopher smiled back before covering his face with his mask and leaving the room.
However, perhaps it was the alcohol that still remained in her system, she couldn’t keep herself awake for long anymore. Her eyes slowly fluttered closed, and she fell into the realm of darkness that overcame her.
Natalia stirred, feeling a throbbing pain in her head. She first grabbed her head, which felt as if it would explode, before slowly sitting up on the bed.
How did she get here? Natalia wondered with a frown on her face. She recalled that she had completely broken it off with Peter last night and had gone to the bar to drown her sorrows in alcohol, but something had happened and she had almost gotten in trouble with a rascally guy had Christopher not suddenly shown up and...
The memories of the dream she’d just had rushed back to her. It wasn’t a dream, she realized—it was something that had happened in the past when she, Celine, and Lilian had still been the best of friends in school.
That morning, she’d had no memories whatsoever after waking up. She knew that she had lost her virginity, but she had no idea who she’d been with. All she had was just a faint feeling about someone, but she hadn’t known who it was.
It had later been revealed by Jenny that Lilian had spiked her drink with a drug, making her actually sleep with some guy, losing her virginity, but even the girls had no idea who she’d slept with. The revelation caused a huge falling out between Natalia and Lilian, but they had been friends for a long time because Lilian was Celine’s sister and Celine had intervened and sorted things out between them, making Lilian apologize.
She had asked her who the guy she’d set her up with was, but Lilian admitted to not seeing the guy again after that night. Perhaps she also hadn’t been aware of the fact that Christopher had beaten up the guy, making him run off without telling anyone, and the person she’d spent the night with was Christopher himself.
Recalling everything that happened between them that night, Natalia realized...
She recalled the promise he made to her. He had assured her he’d make her his. However, at a time close to their graduation, Natalia had left the country momentarily with her aunt when news came that her grandfather, her only surviving grandparent, had suddenly passed away after a mild illness. They had to go abroad for the old man’s funeral.
And since she couldn’t even remember that he was the one she’d spent the night with, she didn’t bother about it.
Natalia’s thoughts were broken off when the door to her bedroom was suddenly pushed open. Looking up, she suddenly went stiff.
He was holding a tray in his hands as he walked in.
For some reason, Natalia suddenly felt enraged upon sighting him. She heaved, picking up the nearest thing her hand could reach, which was a fluffy pillow.
