Chapter 585 - 255. [Dew of Summer] _6
Blinking her eyes with a soft voice, "But if I live at Uncle Gu’s house, he’s not a stranger."Wanxia, "..."
There’s quite a bit of logic to that.
No matter how she tries to argue back, it’s futile.
Pea doesn’t understand what happened with her aunt just now, but after crawling two laps around the living room following the cat’s tail, she completely forgets about being addressed by her full name.
Wanxia looked expressionlessly towards the living room.
The man’s gaze was always on Wanxia, and as she looked over, their eyes effortlessly met.
Gu Shaozhi put down his coffee, with a faint smile in his eyebrows, he spoke leisurely, "You heard it all, this isn’t something I taught."
Wanxia felt like she could hear the sound of a knife being sharpened.
For a whole minute, there they were—her looking coldly, him dotingly—not on the same wavelength at all, producing not a single spark.
Wanxia withdrew her gaze.
After closing her eyes for a moment, she turned back towards the dining room, revealing a perfect formulaic smile, "As long as you’re happy, Mr. Gu, after all, this is your house."
Gu Shaozhi curled his lips and slowly said four words, "As long as you know."
Wanxia, "..."
————
In the evening.
Pea slept hugging the cat.
At the Ji Family Villa, as soon as Wanxia lay down on the bed, the little pink bunch would unconsciously roll into her arms.
But tonight, Wanxia had been sitting by the bedside for ten minutes, and Pea hadn’t reacted, sleeping super soundly with her new fluffy companion, even letting out soft snores.
Wanxia felt like she had fallen out of favor.
Looking at Pea’s rosy cheeks, it was as if she was amused by her own childish thoughts, she covered her cheek with her palm and let out a helpless chuckle.
Pea’s adorable sleeping face, she could look at it all day—eyes, nose, mouth, and the little chubby legs occasionally kicking into the air.
When she made her decision back then, Pea was only four months old, couldn’t even crawl, and now she’s soon going to kindergarten.
The time that’s lost can never be made up for.
Just as she was preparing to turn off the lights to sleep, the door was pushed open from the outside. Gu Shaozhi came in with a glass of milk, and his actions of opening and closing the door were very gentle.
Wanxia looked at him with a half-smile, "Mr. Gu, you only said to live together, not to sleep together."
After dinner, he went to the study to work, and she and Pea randomly found a guest room to shower, on the same floor, each minding their own business without bothering each other.
Of course, Gu Shaozhi understood what the woman’s smile, which didn’t reach her eyes, meant. His features were calm and gentle, with not a hint of fluctuation.
He walked to the bedside and placed the glass of milk on the nightstand, his voice deep and gentle, "A glass of milk would help you sleep."
She wasn’t used to the bed; changing environments made it hard for her to sleep.
Wanxia leaned against the headboard, only giving a sidelong glance at the glass of milk that was still steaming, her fingers idly combing through her long black hair. She let out a laugh, "A glass of wine would work better."
Gu Shaozhi was still dressed in a shirt and suit pants, his tall, straight figure standing by the bed, and under the warm yellow light, the shadow he cast on the floor was very long.
Gazing at the woman’s deliberately coquettish face, he remained silent for a while, his gaze too complex.
"Drink it while it’s hot," he leaned down to drop a goodnight kiss on her forehead, his deep voice carrying a helpless laugh, "I’m sleeping next door."
His rough fingertip gently traced along her jawline, lightly and slowly, a tender and affectionate touch.
Wanxia was still smiling, "I will drink it, you can go out now."
Gu Shaozhi ruffled the woman’s hair, and before straightening up, he couldn’t help but lightly peck the corner of her lips, "Good night."
His steps were slow, just like when he came in, his departing figure somehow casting a lonely illusion.
The bedroom door closed, and the room returned to silence.
In her sleep, Pea turned over, her arm pressing down on Cola’s head, causing Cola to wake up, shrink away, and find a comfortable spot at the end of the bed, laying there elegantly.
Wanxia stared blankly at the glass of milk, the steam gradually dissipating until it cooled down, but she never touched the glass.
