Double Trouble, Triple Heat

Chapter 25

Chapter 25

Weeks pass in the haze of new motherhood.

Elias and Aurora are remarkable. Already more alert than human newborns should be, their eyes shifting between colors—blue to gold to silver and back again.

Tiny teeth bud impossibly early, sharp little points that make nursing an adventure. They communicate in sounds that aren't quite human, aren't quite wolf—something in between that makes the older pack members exchange wondering glances.

Elias is more serious, watching everything with an intensity that reminds me of Dominic. Aurora is curious and playful, reaching for anything shiny, making small yipping sounds when she's happy. Already, their personalities are forming.

"They're growing too fast," I tell Miriam one morning, watching Aurora grip my finger with surprising strength.

"They're growing exactly as they should," she replies. "For what they are."

What they are. We still don't know, not really. Something old, Miriam said. Something beyond normal Prime abilities. The power she sensed in them at birth hasn't faded—if anything, it's growing stronger. I try not to think about it too much. Right now, they're just my babies. That's enough.

My wolf has fully integrated now.

The first time I shift on purpose—not in desperation, not in rage, but simply because I want to—I cry. It doesn't hurt the way I expected. The bones reshape, the skin stretches, but it feels like relief. Like releasing a breath I've been holding for twenty-five years. Like coming home.

I'm a russet wolf with gold-flecked fur that matches my human eyes. Smaller than Dominic or Caspian, but fast. So impossibly fast.

The first time I run with them through the moonlit forest, I finally understand what I've been missing my entire life.

The world is different through wolf eyes. Sharper. Richer. I can smell the deer that passed through hours ago, the rabbit hiding in the brush, the rain coming from the east. I can hear heartbeats from a hundred yards away. And through the bond, I feel my mates—their joy, their pride, their overwhelming love.

Dominic's black wolf flanks my left—massive and protective, always positioning himself between me and potential threats even when there are none. His presence is a wall of safety, of certainty.

Caspian's silver wolf runs on my right, playful even in this form, nipping at my ear as we race through the trees. He darts ahead, circles back, challenges me to chase him. Even as a wolf, he makes me laugh.

We move as one. Three wolves, three hearts, one pack.

When we shift back—naked and breathless under the stars, the cold air sharp against heated skin—Dominic pulls me against him and kisses me until my knees buckle.

"I've been waiting to do that," he growls against my mouth, "since the first time I saw you in wolf form."

"Worth the wait?" I tease.

His answer is another kiss, deeper this time. Caspian presses against my back, lips finding my neck, and I'm caught between them the way I was always meant to be.

This. Pack. Belonging.

The babies sleep in the lodge's nursery tonight, watched over by Miriam and Luna. Luna has become an unofficial aunt—awkward but devoted, holding the twins with the same careful intensity she brings to everything. She's learning to love again, I think. We all are.

The three of us have the night to ourselves.

We come together differently now.

I'm a full wolf, the bond completely formed, power humming beneath my skin. I'm not the uncertain woman who stumbled into Silverpine Falls six months ago. I know what I want. I know how to take it.

When Dominic tries to take control—his usual dominance, his hands positioning me where he wants—I push back.

I pin him down.

Watch his eyes flare gold with surprised arousal.

"My turn," I growl.

Caspian laughs, delighted, from where he's watching. "I love this new side of you."

"You'll love it even more in a minute."

The sex is transcendent.

Dominic's intensity matched by Caspian's tenderness, my growing power adding a dimension that wasn't there before. I take what I want from both of them—guide them, direct them, claim them the way they once claimed me.

Give everything in return.

Dominic's hands grip my hips hard enough to bruise, his eyes blazing gold as I move above him. "You're incredible," he growls. "You're everything."

Caspian's mouth traces every inch of my skin—my shoulder, my spine, that spot behind my ear that makes me shiver. "Let us worship you," he murmurs against my neck. "Let us show you what you mean to us."

Marking and biting, promises renewed in flesh. The bond blazes between us—golden threads connecting three bodies, three souls. I feel what they feel. Every touch echoes, every pleasure multiplies.

When we finally shatter together, it's like the first time all over again. Something ancient clicking into place. Something eternal being forged. Three hearts beating as one.

Afterward, tangled in sheets still warm from our bodies, we talk about the future.

Dominic traces lazy patterns on my hip. Caspian plays with my hair, twisting the strands around his fingers. The fire crackles low, casting dancing shadows across the walls.

"The hunter council will send more," Dominic says quietly. "Joseph's attack was just the beginning."

"Let them come." I say it without fear. Six months ago, that sentence would have been bravado. Now it's truth. "We beat them once. We'll beat them again."

"You beat them," Caspian corrects. "Your power turned the tide."

"Our power." I twist to look at both of them. "The tri-bond. It's not just about love—it's about strength. Together, we're more than the sum of our parts."

Dominic's hand finds mine, squeezes. "The pack is stronger than it's been in decades. More united. More loyal."

"Because of you," Caspian adds. "You changed everything, Sera. Changed us."

There are still threats circling. The supernatural world is starting to take notice of what I'm becoming—what Elias and Aurora might become. The children will need protecting for years to come. The peace we've built is fragile, temporary, always one crisis away from shattering.

But tonight, none of that matters.

Tonight, we're just three people who love each other. Building something new in the ashes of the old.

"I never thought I'd have this," I whisper into the darkness. "Any of it. A pack. A family. Two men who love me without asking me to choose."

"You don't ever have to choose," Dominic murmurs against my hair. "We're yours. Both of us. Always."

"We chose you," Caspian adds. "Both of us. The moment you walked back into this town, we knew. Our wolves knew."

"Terrifying and perfect," Dominic agrees. "Everything we never knew we needed."

I close my eyes, letting their warmth surround me. Through the bond, I feel them both—Dominic's fierce protectiveness, Caspian's bright devotion. And beyond that, fainter but growing stronger every day, two tiny sparks of light in the nursery down the hall. Elias and Aurora, dreaming their first dreams.

My children. My mates. My pack.

Six months ago, I was running from a stalker, alone and afraid, with no idea what I was about to discover. Now I'm exactly where I belong—surrounded by love, supported by family, finally whole in ways I never knew I was broken.

Whatever comes next, we'll face it together.

That's what family does.
