Chapter 1554 - 1492: Prince Qi’s Panic

An Imperial Banquet concluded. Everyone returned home, each seeking their advisors.

Prince Qi sat in his study, a dark expression on his face, addressing his advisers with a cold tone: "What does Jhin Mo mean? Just arrived and already stirring trouble. Is he here to discuss cooperation and celebrate the Imperial Grandmother’s birthday, or to cause issues?"

"Calm down, Your Highness," Mr. Pang, his trusted adviser, said: "His Majesty values the trade route between the two countries greatly. It is not wise to fall out with His Highness the Prince Jin at this time. Otherwise, if the trade discussions don’t go smoothly, who knows if His Majesty might blame you?"

Prince Qi was choked, kicking the chair beside him: "Is it I who wanted to fall out with him? I went to toast him, and he spoke in such a sarcastic manner. You didn’t see the Crown Prince’s look at me; it was as icy as chills."

Everyone exchanged looks; their prince was truly too young and could not hold his temper.

"Your Highness, if so, then avoid it. The reception list does not include our people. If the Beiyan delegation causes trouble during this period, it will have nothing to do with us. As long as the trade business is under control, it’s fine."

Prince Qi calmed down.

"Your Highness, the Leng Family is being bitten by the Jun Family and cannot be relied upon. Liu Liu of the Liu Family has always wanted to show loyalty to you, and although the Liu Family isn’t as powerful as the Jun and Leng Families, they are also very wealthy." Mr. Pang said meaningfully: "Your Highness, to achieve great endeavors, a money pouch is indispensable."

Prince Qi felt a stir in his heart but said on the surface: "Mr. Pang, be cautious with your words. The Crown Prince is the heir apparent to the throne. What great endeavors could possibly concern me, a wealthy prince?"

Insincere words!

Mr. Pang secretly muttered in his heart but outwardly praised him: "It’s my mistake; about the Liu Family?"

"Since Liu Liu is interested, let’s meet then!" Prince Qi said with assumed reserve.

After further discussion among the group, Prince Qi dismissed them and called out his Shadow Guard, lowering his voice to ask: "Have you found it yet?"

"Your Highness..." The Shadow Guard lowered his head.

Prince Qi kicked him: "Useless!"

The Shadow Guard stumbled from the kick but dared not move.

"Keep searching! Dig up Lao Liu’s mansion thoroughly and find it. Also, investigate the Fan Family more!" Prince Qi said with a dark face.

"Yes." The Shadow Guard retreated.

Prince Qi plopped down, his face looking exceedingly grim.

When he noticed the letters in the secret room had disappeared, he nearly fainted. Those letters contained deadly evidence against him, yet they vanished!

As to when exactly they disappeared, he had no idea. He also had no clue where they might be now.

The most likely suspect was the Fan Family, as they were aware of the existence of these letters. Now that Fifth Lady Fan wouldn’t marry him, who knows if they might turn against him and side with Lao Liu.

But he hoped it was the Fan Family who had taken it, rather than others. After all, they were his maternal family, and since they were involved, they shouldn’t dare to expose everything.

The worst fear was if someone else had it; then it would be disastrous.

Treason, even as the Legitimate Son of the Empress, his father the Emperor wouldn’t spare him. The end would be certain death.

With that evidence, the foe held it like a sword hovering over his head, ready to drop at any moment and slice his head. Even though it hadn’t been used against him yet, who knows what plot they might be brewing?

"Damn it, who is it, who is opposing me!" Prince Qi hurled the beloved White Jade Brush Washer away.
