Capítulo 1507: Chapter 1445: Ah Jiu Is So Good
The next day, heading to Xiangguo Temple, Wufu gave up riding horses to please someone and obediently opted for a carriage—pretending to be a lady.
Ah Jiu saw this and lowered his head, a smile in his eyes, then he followed her onto the carriage. With all the attendants being their own people, they didn’t bother with any formalities.
The carriage traveled through the city’s streets. It was autumn, with chestnuts in season, and the streets occasionally wafted the scent of sugar-coated chestnuts.
Wufu craved snacks, and the carriage often stopped. Each stop added another treat to the cabin; besides tea cups, the small table was filled with various roasted nuts and fruits.
The carriage was spacious enough; besides the two of them, Jadeite was also onboard, responsible for brewing tea.
Ah Jiu took chestnuts from the paper bag, peeling them carefully and placing them into the porcelain dish.
As soon as he placed one down, a hand stretched over and took it away.
Ah Jiu looked at the constant eater and said, “Chestnuts can bloat your stomach, be careful not to overeat.” As he spoke, he moved the teacup over.
Wufu took a sip of tea, shelled some peanuts, and said, “Once this season arrives, I suddenly want crabs, steamed, dipped in slivers of ginger with red vinegar, with finely sliced ginger strands, and a pot of realgar wine. That taste is simply divine.”
Ah Jiu replied, “Not today, but tomorrow when we return, I’ll have someone buy a basket back; crabs really are plump now.”
Wufu’s eyes lit up: “Really, really, I thought so too.”
Ah Jiu rolled his eyes at her.
Wufu giggled: “Food and desire are human nature.”
“You’ve got some nerve saying that,” Ah Jiu admired her cheekiness.
Wufu shrugged, flipping open the carriage curtain to look outside as the shops by the road raced past.
She yawned, feeling a bit bored.
“If you’re tired, lay down for a while; it’s about two Shichen to Xiangguo Temple,” Ah Jiu suggested.
Wufu lay down: “Then I’ll take a nap.”
While lying down, she continued chatting with Ah Jiu, half-closing her eyes, soon falling asleep.
Ah Jiu shook his head, looked at Jadeite, and gestured for a thin blanket, personally covering Wufu, as he picked up a book, flipping it open without pausing, still peeling chestnuts and various treats.
She’ll surely want to eat when she wakes!
Wufu slept deeply; when she awoke, her eyes briefly blurred, as she sat up: “Where are we now?”
“Almost there!” A cup of tea was brought to her lips, Wufu took a sip, rubbed her eyes, and looked at Ah Jiu: “You didn’t rest?”
“Just napped a little,” Ah Jiu replied, pushing the plate of peeled snacks toward her.
Wufu glanced down; peanuts, chestnuts, pine nuts, cashew kernels, all neatly arranged, looking quite pleasing, made her grin.
“Ah Jiu is so good!” She popped another chestnut into her mouth.
“I’m even better when you behave!” Ah Jiu said dotingly.
Wufu stuck out her tongue.
Ah Jiu put down the book, took a jade comb and a target mirror from the secret compartment in the carriage, patting the space next to him: “Come over, I’ll redo your hair.”
Wufu raised an eyebrow, sitting before him: “You can do hair?”
The reality was, she gave him too much credit, seeing a messy bun in the mirror, Wufu’s mouth twitched.
“I’ll have Jadeite come help you!” Ah Jiu turned red: “I’ll practice more in the future!”
He jumped off the carriage in embarrassment, and Wufu burst into laughter.
