Chapter 592 - 586: Everyone Knows Now (2)
May Sloane jumped up from the sofa in shock and walked up to him, "Dr. Garrison, you..."
Miles Xavier’s voice remained calm, like a person without emotions, speaking coldly, "Julian Eames is out of the danger period. She should be informed of this to prevent the patient from recklessly injuring herself again. This is my duty as a doctor."
Then, he turned around and handed her a business card, "If she encounters any situation, call the number on it."
May’s hand trembled as she held the business card, and she instinctively looked at Tiana.
She saw that Tiana’s face was a bit pale, as if she was remembering the words Miles Xavier had just said.
It wasn’t until Miles Xavier left the ward and closed the door that May hurriedly ran over and held her hand, "Tiana, listen to me."
That’s when she realized her hand was trembling. She had just had breakfast, so her hand should have been warm, but now her fingertips were cold, the chill piercing her heart, "Tiana, don’t worry, I..."
"Half of the blood?"
She interrupted May, her voice sounding deep, as if she was struggling to control something, pinpointing the crux with just a sentence.
Half of the blood...
One can only imagine how much harm that does to the body...
She dared not think about how poor his physical condition must be now, yet he spent the whole night tirelessly taking care of her.
Her heart felt as if it was being corroded by poison, a sharp pain. She took a deep breath, looking at her calmly, "So, when I woke up earlier, he wasn’t by my side because he was in bad shape from excessive blood loss, worried I would find out, so he lied to me, right?"
She hit the nail on the head.
May’s eyes darted away, a bit apologetic, "The situation was too dangerous at that time, so they didn’t tell you. Tiana, don’t blame..."
She shook her head, her voice slightly hoarse, "No, I don’t blame anyone. It’s my own problem."
Suddenly, she found herself at a loss for words. At this moment, the person truly feeling sorry was her, wasn’t it? She moved her lips, "Tiana..."
She interrupted again, "Don’t tell him that I know about this."
May was stunned, then suddenly understood why she would make such a request.
Initially, Aiden insisted that they not tell Tiana to keep her emotions stable and to ensure she wouldn’t feel indebted to him.
Now, Tiana was doing the same thing to ensure he wouldn’t overthink.
She withdrew her hand, pressing down on the sore tip of her nose, "He has done so much for me. I will respect his wishes, and I respect him for his efforts. Now that things have reached this point, all I can do is think positively, hope he recovers soon, or maybe, I should be a little nicer to him."
May: "..."
She originally thought the situation was heading in the direction of a tearful Korean drama scene, with Tiana emotionally clinging to Aiden, but never expected this.
This is so Tiana.
She let out a long breath, "I’m just heartbroken for him. After doing all this for me, he hurried over to take care of me. Now, I finally understand why he looked so pale at the surgery room door yesterday."
May comforted, "It’s all over now. Because of Aiden’s assistance in giving blood to Julian Eames, he’s out of danger. Now, just focus on recovering and don’t let down his intentions. Aiden will gradually recover too."
She bowed her head, looking at a pair of white, slender hands, recalling the every moment at the surgery room door yesterday, especially the moment he reached out his hand to her.
Even just this can make her feel a trace of his pain.
If, at that moment, she hadn’t reached out her hand, hadn’t given it to him, what would have happened to him...
Just thinking lightly about it filled her heart with bitterness, unable to think more, leaving only heartache.
After a long while, she moved her lips, repeating a phrase, "Half of the blood..."
Even though she spoke very softly, May still heard it, and felt as if her heart was being tightly clenched.
Others would be moved seeing this, let alone Tiana, who was the person involved. Only she could understand her own heartache for Aiden.
She said in a frustrated tone, "Still able to stand up, still able to hold me, impressive, Aiden Shaw."
May knew that Tiana still felt somewhat guilty and was pained that Aiden had harmed his own body, feeling both moved and distressed.
Tiana Thorne lay back down, thinking about the two kisses last night.
Slowly realizing that all kinds of complex emotions in her heart were turning into fondness for him.
Today, it seems, I like him even more than yesterday...
May tucked her in gently, speaking softly, "You sleep. I’ll go over to Finn Pierce’s place to check on Julian Eames, don’t overthink."
She softly responded, then closed her eyes.
May walked out of the room and stood in place for a while after closing the door, rubbing her slightly aching temples.
The image of Tiana’s trembling, cold hands was still in her mind.
She was truly concerned for Tiana, but what’s done cannot be undone.
She couldn’t fathom what mindset Miles Xavier had when he blurted it out without regard.
Perhaps, he was just standing up for his old friend Aiden, which wasn’t wrong from a standpoint.
Sigh.
Knowing is good too; Tiana will understand
I just hope that all three involved in this situation can recover soon.
Miles Xavier returned to the office, finding him already asleep on the sofa.
His eyes remained indifferent and calm, but as he approached him, his expression softened slightly for once. He glanced at the IV drip, which still had more than half of the liquid, before turning to walk in another direction.
He took out a sign from the storage room with four words written on it: Do Not Disturb.
He placed the sign outside the door, closed it, then took his own suit jacket from the coat rack and draped it over him.
Subsequently, he turned up the air conditioning in the room, returned to his desk, and began reviewing the patients’ medical records.
He carefully looked over Julian Eames’ case, then input the drug names into the computer, prescribing the treatments needed for the afternoon.
He then opened Tiana Thorne’s file, inputted some pain relief and anti-inflammatory medications, and upon saving it, notified the nurses at the nurse station to retrieve the prescribed drugs.
...
Aiden Shaw woke up.
He looked down at the hand that had been receiving an IV drip earlier—now the needle was gone.
He sat up from the sofa, the whites of his dark brown pupils tinged with a layer of blood-red veins, looking somewhat exhausted.
Miles Xavier, busy with work, didn’t look at him but reminded, "There are disposable toiletries in the bathroom."
He hung the suit back in its place and went to the bathroom.
By the time he came out, he was much more awake, and the blood-red in his eyes wasn’t as apparent. He walked over to Miles Xavier’s desk and asked, "How are her injuries?"
"Rest is all she needs."
Aiden Shaw patted his shoulder, "Thanks, Nathan."
He put down the mouse in his hand, speaking sternly, "For the next week, you have to get an IV drip every morning and use medicine to nurture your body."
His sharp eyebrows slightly furrowed, his tone lifting, "Every day?"
