Chapter 301 - 279: Su Yan is No Longer the Same as Before (1)

He didn’t get her reply, and the room fell silent once more.Could the reason that had been keeping her awake be him?

She felt something move under the covers, and a gust of wind slipped in. A small, cold foot brushed against his calf, just a light touch before pulling away, as if it was an accidental graze.

The soft texture of the bear was replaced by her not-so-warm body as she lay behind him, her head pressed against his warm back. Yi An closed her eyes in disappointment, her arms tightening around him, "Little Uncle... will you leave?"

Her voice trembled as she asked, and Su Yan’s heart trembled along with it.

After a long time, he finally answered softly, "Yes, if two people aren’t in love, no one can stay with you forever." By saying this, he made the relationship clear, but she still didn’t understand that layer of the relationship.

He heard her sniffle, his back damp, and she began to cry, even though she tried her best to suppress it, she couldn’t control the sound from escaping.

She just wanted to hold him a little tighter, thinking that this way he wouldn’t disappear from her side.

Su Yan knew she was crying and that she was very sad; he could even feel her slight trembling. He did not turn around to embrace and comfort her, instead, he faced away from her, remaining cold to the end.

Did she really think he hadn’t married even in his thirties just because he couldn’t let go of his idol persona? He had been waiting for her all along, but she never understood.

If he didn’t love her, who would stay for twenty years? Watching her grow up, saying that he treated her like a daughter wouldn’t be an exaggeration. When she followed him to France, she was only five years old.

Now she had grown into a graceful young woman, but her mind was still like a child’s, unable to comprehend a man’s heart.

In the eyes of outsiders, she was a perfect and elegant actress, but in front of him, she was just a willful and unruly child, probably unable to live independently because he never let her do anything, taking care of everything for her, including her growth.

He liked to hold her in his hands, but now he hoped he could have a rightful identity, to protect her in his hands for a lifetime.

After a long time, she calmed down and fell asleep, but it was already dawn.

He turned around to look at her, her eyes red and swollen, even in her sleep her grievance was evident.

He reached out to gently brush the strands of hair from her face, tucking them behind her ear, and softly caressed her face. Her small hand rested limply on his waist, no longer holding him as tightly as when she was asleep.

Though he hadn’t seen her for a while, he wasn’t actually with Xu Leya, nor had he gone far. When he wasn’t on location, he stayed at the hotel closest to home.

At first, she didn’t care much, going about her daily routines of eating and sleeping. It wasn’t until this period that she started calling him more frequently, her tone during their conversations revealing her longing for him, always wearily asking if he was with Xu Leya again.

Clearly, she was jealous, but she wasn’t even aware of it.

Watching her sleeping face until dawn, actually, he missed her too.

He got up from the bed, wanting to let her sleep a bit longer since she went to bed late last night. But they had work to do later, so he got dressed, patted her face, and woke her up.

She opened her eyes dreamily, still caught in the thoughts of last night, her eyes looked so pitiful as soon as she opened them.
