Chapter 286 - 264 Prenatal Examination
Chapter 286 - 264 Prenatal Examination
Gu Qimiao was worried that there might be other underlying causes that had not been discovered. After all, the issue of infertility had been there before, just not diagnosed. But she had never experienced this phenomenon before; her periods had always been regular.Could it be that a hidden illness had worsened?
Gu Qimiao anxiously and nervously waited outside for the results, at the same hospital as last time. Watching other couples leave happily together, she still couldn’t put her mind at ease.
"Gigi?!" A familiar voice came from behind. Gu Qimiao turned and saw Xiaoxiao and Dudu walking her way. "Gigi, why are you here?"
As Xiaoxiao spoke, she glanced at the sign above them which read "Gynecology." Her first reaction was: "Are you pregnant?!"
Gu Qimiao hastily waved her hand awkwardly: "...No, I’m just here for a check-up."
Xiaoxiao didn’t think much of it, and Dudu interjected: "For gynecology, you should see my dad. He’s the expert. Xiaoxiao’s here for a follow-up. Miaomiao, just come with us. You won’t have to wait or pay.
"Yeah, my grand-uncle has lots of experience in this field," Xiaoxiao added, pulling Gu Qimiao forward. Gu Qimiao hesitated, thinking that if this matter got out, it definitely wouldn’t be kept from Shen Yanchen’s family, especially his grandmother...
"No need..." Gu Qimiao politely declined with a smile: "I’ve already done the check-up. Just waiting for the results now."
"But you still have to wait, right? Just come with us. You could also do a pre-pregnancy check-up."
"No need for the check-up. I’ll go with you, and by the time we return, the results should be ready."
Xiaoxiao happily linked arms with her at this, and Gu Qimiao glanced at Dudu, who still seemed as cheerful as before. "By the way, Dudu, my mom said you’re getting married. Is that true?"
The moment she finished speaking, the smile on Dudu’s face stiffened: "...Don’t bring it up, it’s annoying."
Xiaoxiao and Gu Qimiao exchanged a glance, biting their lips without saying anything. Matters of the heart couldn’t be helped by others; after all, the outcome couldn’t be changed by just a few words.
They found Dudu’s father, who had just returned from a ward.
Seeing that it was Xiaoxiao, he first examined her. "The condition is pretty good. Keep it up."
Xiaoxiao looked at her slightly bulging belly and smiled shyly. Then, she pulled Gu Qimiao forward and said: "Grand-uncle, check my sister-in-law too, she’s preparing for pregnancy."
Su Yuecheng smiled knowingly, glanced at her belly, and frowned: "Preparing for pregnancy? It looks like the child is already close to three months."
Gu Qimiao awkwardly laughed and explained: "Maybe I just gained weight..."
Because she absolutely couldn’t be pregnant.
Su Yuecheng seemed to have a good sense of things and asked her: "Have you done any tests before?"
Gu Qimiao hesitated and nodded: "Yes."
"When?"
"What did they say?"
Gu Qimiao looked uncomfortably at Xiaoxiao and Dudu, who tactfully averted their gaze. Only then did she look at him and say: "The doctor said I am infertile... Can you help cure my condition?"
Su Yuecheng raised his eyebrows: "Infertile? Lie down and let me check."
Thinking he was an expert in this field, Gu Qimiao figured he might have a solution for her condition. Not wanting to miss any chance, she took off her shoes and lay down on the bed.
Su Yuecheng looked at her abdomen and said: "Based on your body type, the belly shouldn’t be this large. Haven’t you noticed any unusual reactions?"
Gu Qimiao answered truthfully: "I did, for a while I felt nauseous, but when I went to the hospital, the doctor said it was a gastrointestinal issue, and that’s when I learned about the infertility diagnosis."
Su Yuecheng nodded understandingly, looked at her slightly bulging belly, took her hand to check her pulse, and asked: "Was the previous test done at my hospital too?"
Gu Qimiao nodded: "Yes."
"Which doctor? Take me to find them later."
"...Why?" Gu Qimiao asked in confusion.
Su Yuecheng removed his stethoscope and said: "Preliminary judgment indicates you are definitely pregnant, but the diagnosis you received must be wrong."
Gu Qimiao was shocked and sat up from the bed, feeling both excited and puzzled: "But I just had my period yesterday..."
"Impossible," Su Yuecheng denied firmly. "The pulse clearly indicates pregnancy. You said period, was it heavy or light?"
"It was irregular, very light, that’s why I came for a check-up today."
"Have you had intercourse?"
Su Yuecheng asked very professionally, with not the slightest hint of impropriety. Gu Qimiao didn’t let embarrassment hinder her and nodded honestly: "There was a little bit of blood afterwards..."
"That makes sense then. But it’s best to get a comprehensive check-up. Bleeding could be a sign of a potential miscarriage. No intercourse during the first three months of pregnancy."
Gu Qimiao widened her eyes, feeling a mix of joy and worry. Her mind was momentarily blank.
"Come with me, we’ll confirm your previous results first." Such a misdiagnosis couldn’t possibly be a mistake. Given the time she mentioned, it should have been clear that she was pregnant then, which means someone tampered with the results.
They found the doctor who had diagnosed Gu Qimiao previously. Su Yuecheng directly checked her previous results but couldn’t find them. Frowning, he checked the records before and after, but only her results were missing. Su Yuecheng asked a nurse to take Gu Qimiao for a check-up while he stayed back and questioned the doctor: "Do you remember the lady who just left?"
The doctor avoided eye contact nervously and shook his head with a smile: "No impression, why?"
"About a month ago, she came for a check-up. Where’s the result you gave her? Find it for me."
The doctor feigned ignorance: "When was this? Didn’t you just check? All backups are here."
Su Yuecheng smiled: "Whoever asked you to do this, it’s unethical. I think you’re not suitable to be a doctor. Pack up your things and leave."
Without giving the doctor a chance to explain, Su Yuecheng turned and left.
...
"The situation seems good for now. Follow my instructions and take the prescribed medication to maintain the pregnancy, and absolutely no intercourse," Su Yuecheng handed the medication list to a nearby nurse and looked at Gu Qimiao.
Gu Qimiao nodded quickly, her face glowing with a smile as she touched her abdomen.
Sometimes happiness, like bad news, comes so suddenly it leaves one bewildered.
All she wanted to do now was to tell the father of the child...
