Chapter 224 - 202: Go to Divorce Shen Yanchen
Chapter 224 - 202: Go to Divorce Shen Yanchen
If Gu Qimiao weren’t asleep right now, he was planning to take her away. But in the middle of the night, leaving Gu Moming alone in the hospital, she probably wouldn’t go with him. Even if she confessed her feelings to him, she would likely still see taking care of Gu Moming as her responsibility. This sense of duty was deeply ingrained.
She wasn’t awake, and he didn’t need to stay any longer. He walked to the bedside, picked up a thin blanket, draped it over her, and gently pushed away Gu Moming’s hand.
Gu Moming smiled and said to him, "Take care."
Shen Yanchen glanced at Gu Qimiao again before turning to leave.
As the door closed, the smile disappeared from Gu Moming’s face.
He turned his head to look at Gu Qimiao, gently touching her head, worry filling his eyes.
In reality, he was the one least confident about the divorce. No matter how much he spoke, it likely wouldn’t compare to a single word from Shen Yanchen. Besides, even if Gu Qimiao agreed to the divorce, Shen Yanchen might not agree.
Moreover, they had spent so much time together that certain things became increasingly clear.
If Gu Qimiao sensed that Shen Yanchen also liked her, she would surely follow Shen Yanchen without hesitation. Then he would completely lose her, wouldn’t he?
His hand touched her ear, gently pinching her earlobe. Looking at her sleeping face, his heart was filled with mixed emotions.
He had been deceiving her, keeping her by his side. He was satisfied, but what about her? Only with Shen Yanchen could she be genuinely happy, right?
When she was with him, she was always thinking about Shen Yanchen.
Letting her pursue what she truly wanted wasn’t something he hadn’t considered. However, when he thought about separating from her, he felt desperate to trap her by his side, even considering taking her away again.
The night was long, and insomnia was torturous for both men.
In the morning, Gu Qimiao woke up, looking up to see him staring at her. She stretched, and the blanket behind her fell off. She picked it up casually and said to him, "You’re awake early?"
Gu Moming’s face was still stern as he coldly instructed her, "Go get breakfast."
While folding the blanket, she laughed and asked, "Woke up hungry?"
He only rolled his eyes at her.
"What do you want to eat? Is yesterday’s porridge okay?"
He said irritably, "Can I eat anything else?"
"Of course, there are many types of porridge, and you can have soup too."
Hearing about soup made him annoyed, and Gu Qimiao understood, saying no more to avoid making him angry.
She briefly freshened up and went downstairs to buy breakfast, bringing back two boxes this time.
Seeing his good appetite, the doctor who examined him last night also said he was recovering well.
After feeding him, Gu Qimiao was tidying up when the attending doctor walked in and asked, "Had breakfast?"
"Yes, just finished. His appetite is quite good."
The doctor nodded in satisfaction, then walked over to press on his legs. Seeing that Gu Moming didn’t flinch, he asked, "Still no sensation?"
Gu Moming glanced at his leg, feeling the pressure but nothing else.
Gu Qimiao looked at the cast on his leg and where the doctor was pressing, hesitantly saying, "Doctor, he has no pain sensation."
The doctor paused momentarily but wasn’t surprised, showing professionalism. He stood up and said, "If that’s the case, let’s take an X-ray this afternoon. If everything looks good, we can start rehabilitation training."
Gu Qimiao nodded, "Thank you, doctor."
"Also, don’t give him breakfast tomorrow. We’ll do a follow-up examination."
"Okay."
After explaining, the doctor hung a drip bottle and skillfully inserted the needle.
Gu Moming asked, "When can I be discharged?"
"Discharged? At least wait until you can get out of bed. If not careful, bone misalignment or poor recovery can affect you for life. Besides, this isn’t your first leg injury. Discharge will have to wait until post-recovery assessment."
Gu Moming’s face darkened, looking dissatisfied with the answer.
Once the needle was inserted, the doctor left, and Gu Qimiao commented to him, "Why are you so eager to be discharged?"
He turned to her and directly asked, "When are we getting divorced?"
Gu Qimiao’s hand stopped adjusting the blanket, then said, "When you’re discharged."
"So you want me to stay in the hospital for what reason?"
"But someone has to take care of you."
"Call him and tell him to get a lawyer to handle it."
Gu Qimiao lowered her head and said, "Brother Yan Chen is also helping Gu Corp. It would be rude to call him about the divorce..."
Gu Moming’s voice was icy as he questioned her, "How long do you plan to drag this out? Are you hoping never to divorce?"
Gu Qimiao muttered, "Of course I hope so, but that’s impossible..."
Her words were met with another eye roll from Gu Moming, leaving her to sulk and stay silent.
He lay back and took a deep breath, as if brainstorming.
Gu Qimiao quietly sat down in a corner, picking up a paintbrush and sketching on a small table.
After a while, Gu Moming spoke, "Call someone, and go see Shen Yanchen to divorce this afternoon."
Her brush paused, staring at the sketch for a long time without speaking.
"Did you hear me?!"
Gu Qimiao took a deep breath, nodded, and responded softly, "Yes."
It was inevitable. Even if she stayed with him, she couldn’t find peace. It was better to end it cleanly now.
After lunch, Gu Qimiao was hurried away.
She boarded the bus heading to Mai City, feeling perhaps her first reluctance to visit this city.
Flipping through photos on her phone, capturing memories about him, from now on, would she just live off these memories?
The scenery became more familiar as the bus reached the stop.
Gu Qimiao got off the bus, the afternoon sunlight stinging her eyes. Squinting at the towering buildings ahead, her mind was filled with thoughts.
Though not unfamiliar, she hesitated at the door.
She clutched her bag’s shoulder strap, took a deep breath, and walked inside.
Entering the elevator, she went to the highest floor, then turned towards the familiar emergency stairs leading to the CEO’s office.
It was work hours, and the company was quiet, making her heart race.
"Good day, madam!" The receptionist greeted her politely. Gu Qimiao forced a smile, and continued towards Shen Yanchen’s office.
The receptionist reminded her, "Madam, the CEO is in a meeting. Do you have an urgent matter?"
Gu Qimiao’s steps paused, then said, "No rush. I’ll wait inside."
Maybe it was better to have time to mentally prepare.
But facing the large office alone, her anxiety peaked; she wished it could be quick. Waiting was excruciating.
Her eyes wandered, landing on the drawer with his laptop under the desk. She couldn’t help but walk over...
