Chapter 201 - 182 His Wife through a Formal Marriage Proposal_2
Slowly bending down, she stiffened her body, her eyelashes fluttered and she hurriedly closed her eyes.Shen Yanchen’s smile deepened, his gaze lingering on her slightly pursed lips for half a second before he finally placed the kiss on her forehead.
Less than a second later, he pulled away. Watching her shy yet somewhat disappointed expression, he found it very amusing. He wanted to see when she would finally confess her feelings.
The wedding proceeded smoothly, and the marriage certificate was genuine.
After the ceremony, Gu Qimiao followed Shen Yanchen around the tables to toast the guests. She took small sips each time, and it was just cocktails with low alcohol content. But Shen Yanchen was different—he drank high-proof liquor, one shot at a time.
Despite all he drank, his complexion didn’t change at all. On the other hand, Gu Qimiao, who drank the cocktails, already felt a bit woozy.
When they reached Lu Jinxi’s table, Shen Yanchen, half showing off and half declaring ownership, embraced Gu Qimiao. They exchanged glances, but nobody did anything inappropriate.
The reason he invited Lu Jinxi was partly to dispel his fantasies about Gu Qimiao and partly because he wasn’t afraid of retaliation. Even if he tried to snatch her away, Gu Qimiao would never go with him.
After toasting most of the guests, Gu Qimiao’s ears were a bit red, clearly showing that she couldn’t handle any more alcohol. Shen Yanchen didn’t want her to drink any more, so he let that alcoholic, He Ye, take over.
Gu Qimiao was Shen Yanchen’s wife. Even if someone wanted to pester her or force her to drink more, they wouldn’t dare offend Shen Yanchen.
If Shen Yanchen didn’t let her drink, no one dared to complain.
...
In a luxuriously decorated European-style room, a large TV on the wall was broadcasting the live wedding. The screen showed Shen Yanchen embracing Gu Qimiao affectionately.
"Bang——" A tall wine glass, along with the red liquid inside, shattered on the floor, spreading across the white floor...
"Miss, a girl named Liang Zixuan is here to see you," came the servant’s voice from outside the door.
Lu Qianwen, with a heavy breath, kicked aside the broken glass near her feet. The glass pieces skidded a short distance before spinning on the floor.
She turned off the TV, tossed the remote onto the bed, and angrily walked downstairs.
Downstairs, Liang Zixuan sat on the sofa in the hall, her expression much calmer compared to Lu Qianwen’s.
Seeing Lu Qianwen’s appearance, Liang Zixuan smiled and asked, "Judging by your look, you must have seen the news, right?"
Lu Qianwen didn’t answer but retorted impatiently, "Why are you here?"
Liang Zixuan took the cup of tea handed to her by the servant, sipped it slowly, and said unhurriedly, "Have you forgotten we are allies?"
"Allies? Now that they’re married, what can we do?!" Lu Qianwen was visibly furious.
Liang Zixuan chuckled, "What if they’re married but one of them is no longer around?"
Lu Qianwen stared at her, "Did you forget you almost died last time?"
Liang Zixuan scoffed, "As long as I’m alive, giving up is not an option for me."
"Then what’s your plan?"
"I came today to ask if your brother’s previous intended bride was Gu Qimiao, right?"
Lu Qianwen nodded, "That’s right. My brother likes her, but he would never harm her. I’ve tested that."
Liang Zixuan smiled with understanding, "That makes things easier. Give me your brother’s contact information."
Lu Qianwen frowned. Although she looked down on Liang Zixuan, she had to admit Liang Zixuan was more resourceful and far more ruthless.
She could now use her to drive Gu Qimiao away, but later she’d need to plan how to deal with this difficult woman.
She asked a servant to bring paper and pen, wrote down Lu Jinxi’s number, and handed it to Liang Zixuan, who then left.
Lu Qianwen thought it over, but still couldn’t guess what Liang Zixuan was planning.
...
The wedding banquet lasted the entire day. Gu Qimiao took a nap at the hotel in the afternoon. In the evening, during dinner, Shen Yanchen came to wake her up.
It was evident that Gu Qimiao hadn’t fully recovered. She only ate a little and then left with him without staying to entertain the guests.
Everyone assumed they were hurrying to their bridal chamber and urged them to leave quickly.
Gu Qimiao blushed the entire time. After removing her makeup, her shyness was fully visible on her face.
Once in Shen Yanchen’s car, Gu Qimiao said, "Brother Yan Chen, can you take me back to the hospital? Xiaoxiao is alone there, I need to relieve her."
Shen Yanchen’s hand hesitated on the steering wheel. He hadn’t expected that she had been worrying about Gu Moming all day and now couldn’t wait to return.
"Not tonight, you have to stay with me. Reporters will be tailing us. If they find out we spent our wedding night apart, our marriage will be in vain."
Gu Qimiao realized she had overlooked something.
"I’ll send someone over there. Don’t worry."
"Thank you."
Shen Yanchen glanced at her. Her distant demeanor wasn’t all her fault.
"For the time being, while we’re outside, remember we are husband and wife, and the way you address me should change."
Gu Qimiao nodded dazedly, "Okay."
Shen Yanchen didn’t mention their destination, and Gu Qimiao didn’t ask. The car arrived at his home, the place they had stayed before.
As he pressed the door code with his long fingers, Gu Qimiao noticed it hadn’t changed; it was still the same as before.
While changing her shoes, Gu Qimiao curiously asked, "Does this code have any special meaning?"
Shen Yanchen’s eyes darkened slightly for just a moment, and he asked her, "Why do you ask?"
"I... saw these numbers in your textbooks before and just asked casually."
"When did you see my textbooks?"
Gu Qimiao stuttered, "Just a few days ago at the Gu house... I came across them."
Shen Yanchen paused while changing his shoes, then smiled slightly. His textbooks?
Was it that she missed him so much during those days back at the Gu house that she sought out his textbooks for solace? Was she flipping through his textbooks because she missed him?
She’s really adorably naive.
