Chapter 194 - 176 I Want to Terminate the Pregnancy
Chapter 194 - 176 I Want to Terminate the Pregnancy
"The baby is almost two months old now, and it’s a very healthy little one." The doctor went on about various tips for managing pregnancy symptoms, but Jiajia probably didn’t hear a single word.Holding the examination report, staring at the black mass on the ultrasound scan, she still couldn’t quite believe there was already a tiny life inside her.
Gu Qimiao helped Jiajia downstairs. He Ye approached them, glanced at the paper in Chen Jiatong’s hand, saw that it was an ultrasound scan, but didn’t know the results yet.
"How did it go? Everything okay?"
Jiajia answered dazedly, "...It’s fine."
He Ye was also anxious but didn’t dare to ask more, fearing he’d seem suspicious.
The three of them returned to the company and went back to their respective positions.
He Ye couldn’t focus in the office and went downstairs to look around at the marketing department but didn’t see her there.
"Vice President He, what brings you here?"
He Ye looked around, then put on his authoritative tone and asked, "Where’s that Chen Jiatong from your department?"
"Jiajia? She might be in the restroom, she’s been running there a few times, maybe her stomach’s upset."
He Ye nodded thoughtfully, still feeling uneasy, and immediately drove back to the hospital. Using his connections, he quickly got hold of Chen Jiatong’s morning check-up results.
Now that the results were confirmed, his mind was even more chaotic.
How unlucky could he get? One time and she got pregnant! And this woman happened to be a friend of his sister-in-law, making it difficult for him to handle.
Would this woman think about keeping the baby?
Finally, when work ended, Gu Qimiao went downstairs to find Chen Jiatong, who looked very haggard.
"Jiajia, are you okay? Feeling unwell?"
Jiajia shook her head, "Maybe it’s from the flight, I’ve been dizzy. I should be fine after resting tonight."
Since Jiajia was feeling unwell, she didn’t take the bus as usual and instead took a cab home.
Settling Jiajia in bed, Gu Qimiao went downstairs to buy some light dishes and brought a bowl of porridge upstairs.
Pregnant and unable to take random cold medicines, she drank millet porridge all night and prepared to sleep.
After tidying up, Gu Qimiao was about to work on her unfinished painting when Jiajia called her, "Miaomiao, do you think I should keep this child?"
Gu Qimiao thought for a moment and said, "You and the baby are both innocent. I think you should find that man."
Jiajia smiled bitterly, "What’s the use of finding that kind of man? It was just for pleasure. What can I do if I find him, make him take responsibility? I’d rather live alone than be with a man like him."
"Jiajia, what about Xiao Mo?"
"Don’t mention him!" She angrily pulled up the quilt and turned her back to Gu Qimiao.
Gu Qimiao sighed, anyone would be troubled by such a situation.
Seeing she was quiet, Gu Qimiao was about to turn away when a muffled voice came from under the covers, "Miaomiao... I want to get rid of the baby."
Gu Qimiao’s back stiffened, then she nodded, "I support whatever you decide. When? I’ll go with you."
"Tomorrow."
"Alright."
It’s said pregnant women sleep a lot, and Jiajia soon fell asleep. Just back from travel, Gu Qimiao was also tired. After a shower, she was about to sleep when she saw several missed calls from Gu Moming on her phone.
She called back immediately, "What’s up, Mo Ming?"
On the other side, he shouted, "Open the damn door!"
Gu Qimiao was startled, holding the phone away, and quickly went downstairs.
Recently, he’d been busy at the store, so Gu Qimiao had given the key to Jiajia.
She thought he was still traveling, didn’t expect him to be back.
As soon as the door opened, his face was dark, as if he wanted to kill her with his glare.
"I was just showering... didn’t hear it."
He glared at her angrily, not even changing his shoes, he headed upstairs, saying, "Change your clothes, come with me."
"Go where?"
"My dad’s sick, he’s in the hospital."
After hearing this, Gu Qimiao didn’t show much emotion, she wasn’t attached to the Gu parents.
But for Gu Moming’s sake, she went upstairs to change and waited for him to pack. Then they drove back to the Gu family overnight.
He Ye, who had been fooling around with a pretty woman in bed, heard the faint sound of an alarm. He immediately pushed the woman off, cursing and telling her to get out.
The woman pouted a bit but seeing He Ye’s off mood, slowly got dressed, took the money from the bedside table, and left.
He Ye felt somewhat annoyed as well. It’s been so long since the last time he had [sex], and today, finding a woman didn’t interest him as much as it used to.
His mind was a chaotic mess, full of thoughts about that woman and the child. That night, he really shouldn’t have sinned!
Following the GPS given by Shen Yanchen, he quickly caught up with Gu Moming’s car.
Gu Moming didn’t go home; instead, he drove to the hospital. By the time they arrived, it was already past ten. Getting out of the car, a cold breeze greeted them, and Gu Moming led her into the hospital with a slight embrace.
After inquiring about the direction of the operating room, they went upstairs and saw the butler and Mrs. Gu standing outside. Mrs. Gu was crying constantly.
"What happened?" Gu Moming stepped forward and asked.
Seeing him arrive, Mrs. Gu immediately came over and hugged him while crying, "Son, if something happens to your father, what will we do? You haven’t even gotten married, how can he leave us like this?"
Gu Moming pushed Mrs. Gu away impatiently and turned to look at the butler. The butler respectfully reported, "The master’s cerebral thrombosis has worsened. The doctor said that even if he wakes up, he might need to be bedridden."
Gu Moming looked at the operating room with a serious expression. Mrs. Gu continued crying, "Son, if something happens to your father, the whole family will rely on you."
"We’ll talk about it when he’s dead," Gu Moming replied coldly.
Mrs. Gu was about to scold him when the door to the operating room opened. Mr. Gu lay on a stretcher, and Mrs. Gu quickly pulled the doctor aside to ask about his condition.
"There is no immediate life threat, but the left side of his body is essentially paralyzed, and he might need to be bedridden."
"Oh, what are we going to do? Who will take care of the company?" Mrs. Gu mumbled to herself. Without saying a word, Gu Moming dragged Gu Qimiao into the elevator.
Seeing that Mr. Gu wouldn’t wake up anytime soon, and fearing that Gu Qimiao might get tired, considering she’s been sleeping at ten during this period, Gu Moming said, "I’ll head back first, and come back in the morning."
Mrs. Gu wanted to say something, but Gu Moming had already taken Gu Qimiao and left the room.
Back at the Gu residence, Gu Qimiao went into her old room, the same room where she and Shen Yanchen used to be.
When he first brought her back, he hid her in this room. He instructed her to stay put, but she always caused trouble. During the day, he had to attend school and sometimes take care of business, often unable to come back to accompany her until late at night.
Later, she was discovered by Gu Moming, and Shen Yanchen was flogged by Mr. Gu because of it.
Gu Qimiao now doesn’t look kindly upon the Gu elders, likely because she saw them treat Shen Yanchen poorly back then.
They would often beat and scold him, ignore him when he was sick, and wouldn’t care if he had eaten, yet they still wanted him to handle company matters.
So when she later heard that his biological parents had taken him away, she felt a mix of happiness and sorrow.
He wouldn’t be bullied anymore, but she also wouldn’t see him again.
"Gu Qimiao!" Gu Moming’s irritable voice called from outside the door.
Setting aside her memories, Gu Qimiao responded impatiently, "What is it?"
She opened the door, looked up at him. He extended his hand, "Give me your phone."
"What for?"
"Mine’s out of battery, and I don’t have a charger."
With that, she turned around and handed her phone from the bedside table to him. Gu Moming lit up the screen and joked, "Since when did you become so narcissistic? Using your own picture as the wallpaper."
It took her a moment to realize that the screen was a photo of her and Shen Yanchen taken at an ancient town, a selfie that was actually meant to capture him in the background. Fortunately, Gu Moming didn’t notice, or he would have reprimanded her.
"Go to sleep, I’ll use your phone to make a few calls and return it in the morning," he said, leaving with the phone without waiting for her response.
Gu Qimiao thought she wouldn’t need her phone much tonight, so she let him take it. It was late anyway, so she went to bed.
The next morning, without a phone alarm, Gu Qimiao woke up past nine. She looked around; Gu Moming’s room was empty, and Mrs. Gu and the butler were also not around. Only a few servants were busy downstairs.
"Where is the young master?"
"The young master went to the hospital. He instructed you to wait for him at home."
Thinking there was no use in going to the hospital, she washed up, found some food in the kitchen, and feeling bored, went to the room Shen Yanchen used to stay in. Everything inside was emptied long ago, clearly left unattended, with dust covering the furniture.
The books on the shelves were also removed, except for a few of his old textbooks in the bottom cabinet.
She picked one up, dusted it off—an old chemistry book. The first page had his strong, neat handwriting. Even back then, his writing was so beautiful.
She couldn’t help but smile. Chemistry was the hardest subject for her, yet his notes were always so meticulous, unlike hers, which were filled with doodles.
Flipping through, she suddenly noticed a series of scribbled numbers at the bottom of a page that stood out against his usual neat handwriting.
The numbers were familiar: 273190, a sequence he often used for passwords now.
What special meaning did these numbers hold for him?
She flipped the book around, examining it, finding nothing unusual.
"Knock knock—Miss, the madam is waiting for you downstairs."
Puzzled, Gu Qimiao put the book back in the cabinet and followed the servant downstairs.
She sat on the sofa, the same dignity and grace as before, no longer showing the sadness from last night. Clearly, she hadn’t stayed up caring for Mr. Gu and seemed to be in good spirits.
She pointed to the opposite seat, and Gu Qimiao understood, sitting down across from her.
