Chapter 1870 - 1871: Suspicion

Chapter 1870 - 1871: Suspicion

After skimming through the recorded data here, Feng Yuan immediately lifted the area lock. As the message ’Area Lock Released’ appeared on the screen, the intercom transmitted a voice again.

Yang Hongzhi: "There’s a new passage here on my end. Feng Yuan, did you just lift the restriction?"

Feng Yuan: "That’s correct. It seems this place requires lifting locks room by room. If you don’t pay attention to the order, you’ll waste a lot of time. But doing it this way, it seems like there are fewer restrictions."

Veronia: "Yang Hongzhi, don’t lift the restriction yet. Wait until I get there before taking any action."

Feng Yuan: "Why is that? Veronia, did you discover something?"

Veronia: "Not exactly a discovery, just a suspicion. Is it really that simple here? Could it be that lifting the lock on one room, the entrance to the next room gets locked?"

Najia: "That’s certainly a possibility. Since that’s the case, we’ll wait for you."

Feng Yuan: "That’s fine. I have many files here that look a bit odd, so I’ll take this opportunity to take a look."

Yang Hongzhi: "Files?"

Feng Yuan: "Prison City data, hmm, let me simplify a few..."

...

Najia: "If it isn’t due to the automatic perfection of world rules, this thing is probably quite important."

Veronia: "True, I didn’t expect the important stuff would be on your end again. It makes one think if you haven’t done something secretly~"

Feng Yuan: "Stop slandering me. This has nothing to do with me; it’s just a coincidence. How would I know there are such files here? Don’t you have any on your end?"

Veronia: "No, the room I just went to seems to be a potion theory lab, mainly containing potion-related data. However, the stuff there can be copied by mirror projection, quite unique, I must say~"

Yang Hongzhi: "I’m in the potion synthesis room, with no data whatsoever, just some potions of unknown purpose."

Najia: "Potion theory lab? Veronia, do you have data on various potions over there?"

Veronia: "No, the data are all in the computer, and I don’t have the password; I can only see the directory. But the potion names are composed of rather strange mixed characters. I’ll show you all the computer projections when we meet outside."

Feng Yuan: "Computer? Could there be some hidden screens undiscovered?"

Veronia: "I wouldn’t know about that. Anyway, the only control button I found is to lift the restriction at your place. All right, I’m in the last room now, just wait a bit more."

...

"No hidden screens? Potions? And this pile of monster files..."

Looking at the huge screen, Feng Yuan pondered while holding his chin. Though connections seemed to form a complete chain between them, he always felt something was off, a persistent sense of incoherence.

Why would the Mad Doctor research turning living beings into bio-metallic forms? What’s the point of doing that? For immortality?

Going through the archives, various thoughts flashed through Feng Yuan’s mind. Although strictly speaking, this place was no more than an amusement facility, Feng Yuan always felt there might be a special meaning behind it.

Unfortunately, the archives didn’t contain any data that could confirm the truth for Feng Yuan. Among the anatomical data, many even detailed changes and data in the process of metallic transformation.

Feng Yuan, holding his chin, felt the data on metallic transformation seemed familiar. Could he have seen it somewhere before? But, if something this dangerous really did exist in this world, how could it remain unknown, given that it’s far more terrifying than ordinary diseases?

This indicates it’s probably not a disease that exists in reality. Of course, Feng Yuan didn’t find this strange. In reality, most diseases, except for some special ones, can be resolved by the ultimate moves of Spirit Beasts, so in terms of danger, they’re less frightening than an enraged Legendary Spirit Beast.

No matter what, this place should belong to the haunted house type of amusement facility. Putting anything non-scary here seems unlikely.

Yet, for some reason, Feng Yuan felt as if he had seen this research on metallic transformation somewhere before. If it’s unrelated to disease origins, could it be one of those illegal biological experiments by the G Organization?

Thinking of this, Feng Yuan squinted his eyes. For a typical person, it would be hard to know the conditions of each experiment in illegal organizations like the G Organization, but to Feng Yuan, it’s not difficult.

Furthermore, apart from that, the Abnormal Space itself can mobilize incomplete Data Domain rules to acquire information preserved within the Data Domain. Unless someone like Quine had special measures, all secrets are no real secret in the Data Domain.

This suggests G Organization or other illegal groups are researching similar stuff? But...

Staring at the data on the metalizing energy virus with high infectivity, Feng Yuan frowned. If this thing existed in reality, even if not metalizing, it would be a major problem.

However, if that’s the case, why hadn’t he paid much attention when he saw it? Could it be because it doesn’t affect the Divine Land Region?

Scratching his head, Feng Yuan couldn’t figure this matter out. After all, he had read too many files, so for files he didn’t pay much attention to, all he could say is he had some impression of them, but to say much understanding would be a stretch.

"Sigh, what a headache..."

Sighing, Feng Yuan closed the opened files. Unlike Veronia, he couldn’t project mirror images and thus couldn’t take the data with him. However, he took photos of the critical parts with his phone. Once it’s over, Feng Yuan plans to have Captain Yang investigate the cases in the files.

If it’s not in the Divine Land Region, that’s fine. But if it involves the Divine Land Region, then it would require some intervention.

Leaving through a side door, Feng Yuan walked forward through a narrow dark passage, a shrinking black-robed shadow floating behind him, holding Xiao Ji in his arms. Feng Yuan kept pondering the files’ data, suspecting the purpose of metallic transformation might be to turn all life forms into these bizarre metallic creatures.

Yet, Feng Yuan was uncertain if that special effect would work on real Spirit Beasts. As for Xiao Ji, Feng Yuan wasn’t too worried. The special nature of Divine Beasts, even if Xiao Ji currently wasn’t at Divine Beast Level, was still intact.

Veronia: "All right, I’m here. Yang Hongzhi, you can release the mechanism now."

Yang Hongzhi: "Understood."

Feng Yuan: "Looks like you were right, the last room is inaccessible."

Najia: "Didn’t this place consider there’d be cases where only one person reaches here?"

Feng Yuan: "Why should that be considered? Though it looks like one, this isn’t playing a game. Besides, remember the cliff?"

Yang Hongzhi: "You mean if at the cliff... too many fell off, this place would be impossible?"

Veronia: "It’s not impossible, but how do you guarantee they, like us, entered this amusement park?"

...

Standing in the middle of the hallway, looking at the lights turning on in the distance and listening to the sudden roars, Feng Yuan suspected they might have to fight some bizarre entities soon.

Xiao Ji stood beside Feng Yuan, eyes fixed in the direction of the roars, sensing a tint of danger. At this point, Yang Hongzhi and the others exited the room. As soon as they stepped out, Yang Hongzhi turned around to see the door changing after closing.

The previously white door instantly turned pale yellow, and its patterns altered. Seeing Yang Hongzhi wanting to return to check, Feng Yuan spoke up

"No need to try; that’s the hidden room we were in before—meaning after passing through, we don’t need to take that cumbersome loop passage where we came from."

"This... feels like a game?"

Frowning, Yang Hongzhi looked at Feng Yuan. The place felt increasingly bizarre to him. If there was a conspiracy here, why were all the methods seemingly non-lethal?

Wait! Could it be because of our strengths?!

Recalling the events at the cliff, Yang Hongzhi felt somewhat at a loss. It seemed as if it wasn’t because of the master’s plans but because their strengths were somewhat over-the-top. Without specially targeting them, any relatively fair mechanism wouldn’t be hard for them.

At that moment, the lights turned on at the end of the passage. A heavy metallic ascending sound echoed, and the ground shook as terrifying howls rapidly approached the group.
