Chapter 1605 - 1606: Quarrel

Chapter 1605 - 1606: Quarrel

At the dinner table, Xiao Ji’s tail feathers twitched as it heard Feng Yuan discussing the problems it encountered during its previous training. Clearly, Xiao Ji didn’t quite believe him. However, as Feng Yuan continued, Xiao Ji realized everything he said seemed to be true!

Was Feng Yuan secretly observing me? Xiao Ji thought with pleasant surprise, imagining Feng Yuan claiming to prepare dinner when he was really peeking from behind the door. Yet Xiao Ji didn’t consider that a big cat couldn’t possibly make such delicious food.

After dinner, seeing that Xiao Ji wanted to train again, Feng Yuan wrapped his arm around it and said helplessly,

"Alright, training should be gradual. Being this eager won’t help. Besides, did you figure out everything I just mentioned?"

Hearing Feng Yuan’s words, Xiao Ji hesitated, then shook its head. It indeed hadn’t fully understood how to avoid the issues Feng Yuan mentioned. Lightly patting Xiao Ji’s head, Feng Yuan smiled and said,

"Then think it over carefully. I’ll wash the dishes first, and if it doesn’t work, I’ll help you during class tomorrow."

The tail feathers moved slightly, and Xiao Ji looked at Feng Yuan in confusion, not understanding why it had to wait until class.

Agunas, however, seemed to know something. Just as it was about to speak, Veronia walked in from outside. Seeing the food on the table, Veronia spoke to Feng Yuan in surprise,

"So it was you cooking today. Looks like I missed out by not coming back for a meal~"

Rolling his eyes, Feng Yuan said to Veronia, speechless,

"Do you want some? Yours is in the kitchen; just heat it up."

"Never mind, I’m already full. No chance to enjoy your feast~"

Waving her hand, Veronia said with seeming regret, though Feng Yuan, who knew her well, didn’t believe a word.

Agunas opened its eyes and looked at Veronia, asking suspiciously,

"Where exactly did you go? Is that ’friend’ of yours really reliable?"

"Why, are you doubting me?"

"Is it strange for me to worry about you being deceived at times like this?"

Hearing Agunas’s response, Veronia instantly became furious at its overbearing attitude.

She’s not like Little Ice Cream, a spirit beast just born. As a ruler of the Mythical Era, how could she be so easily deceived?

Noticing the two Divine Beasts arguing, Big Cat quietly moved its body upstairs, while Kong Qing used its tail to wrap around Pomiti, quietly leaving the battlefield. Though Little Ice Cream didn’t understand what was happening, it quietly followed Big Cat.

Before long, only the two Divine Beasts and Xiao Ji remained here. Not understanding what was going on but guessing it wasn’t good, Xiao Ji sneaked into the kitchen. Noticing Xiao Ji coming in, Feng Yuan said in confusion,

"What are you doing here? This isn’t a place to wander around. Go back to the living room and wait for me."

Flapping its wings, Xiao Ji seemed to be trying to say something, but without Agunas to translate, Feng Yuan couldn’t understand any of it.

However, seeing Xiao Ji like this, Feng Yuan guessed it didn’t want to return to the living room. Seeing this, Feng Yuan could only say helplessly,

"Then stay here, but be careful not to get too close. There’re not just water splashes but also oil stains that could be troublesome if caught."

Nodding, Xiao Ji obediently stood at the doorway, chirping without stepping into the kitchen. It silently watched Feng Yuan wash the dishes, suddenly noticing a strange mirror outside the window. Through the mirror, it could see what was happening in the backyard.

At this moment, Xiao Ji finally realized how Feng Yuan knew about its issues. Thinking of all its previous wild imaginings, Xiao Ji felt embarrassed and like it wanted to find a hole to hide in.

After a while, once everything was clear, Feng Yuan shook his hand dry and walked over to Xiao Ji, asking in confusion,

"What’s with you today? Why have you suddenly become clingy?"

Shaking its head, Xiao Ji wanted to say something, but unfortunately, Feng Yuan couldn’t understand. However, he could vaguely guess it had something to do with Agunas and the others.

"Could it be... that Agunas and the others are stirring trouble?"

Though it seemed unlikely, Feng Yuan still tentatively asked. Xiao Ji nodded, agreeing with his guess. Scratching his head, Feng Yuan said in puzzlement,

"It shouldn’t be, Agunas is quite steady."

Unable to figure it out, Feng Yuan decided to check in the living room. Since Xiao Ji dared not approach, it must be something there.

Entering the living room, Feng Yuan saw Agunas and Veronia confronting each other. Scratching his head, Feng Yuan curiously asked,

"What are you two doing?"

"Nothing, just the Little Crocodile’s paranoia acting up again. Really, doubting my judgment? What do they take me for?"

Crossing her arms, Veronia turned her head in displeasure and said. Agunas glanced at Veronia and continued reading its book, as if something very intriguing was in it, saying,

"Who knows who was deceived for so long and manipulated, O king."

"You!"

"Alright, alright, bygones are bygones. Everyone’s changing, and besides, there’s no reason to expect Veronia to repeat past mistakes, right? But what are you two really about?"

Standing between the two Divine Beasts, Feng Yuan smiled and said, glancing at Agunas. Veronia spoke irritably,

"Isn’t it just Little Crocodile insisting my new friend is problematic? Are we supposed to only befriend Divine Beasts?"

"Not necessarily, but you’ve made a new friend?"

Feng Yuan was stunned, looking at Veronia in surprise. Though Veronia mentioned earlier about going out with a new friend today, still... No wonder Agunas was doubtful—considering Veronia’s identity as a Divine Beast, she could easily encounter those with ulterior motives.

Seeing Feng Yuan’s changed gaze, Veronia snorted coldly and said,

"Don’t tell me you’re like Little Crocodile too?"

"No, but your friend, is it a Spirit Beast?"

Looking at Veronia, Feng Yuan tentatively asked. She nodded, glancing at Agunas uncomfortably and said,

"Else what? Do you think I would casually befriend a human? Don’t be ridiculous!"

"Even if it’s a Spirit Beast, still..."

Before Agunas could finish, Feng Yuan interrupted it, saying helplessly,

"This doesn’t seem like you, Agunas. Aren’t you the one who’s deeply concerned about Wild Spirit Beasts?"

"But they’re not Wild Spirit Beasts. If they were..."

"Weak spirit beasts rarely have such sinister intentions, and the strong ones have pride. Even if there are exceptions, they’re too unlikely. So if they’re simply Spirit Beasts, I don’t see why Veronia would be wrong."

Sighing, Feng Yuan shook his head, stating he didn’t believe anyone would risk deceiving a Divine Beast. Furthermore, this is an academy; who would dare cause trouble and think they wouldn’t be caught?

Not to mention, the academy, due to its nature, lacks people with such complex motives. Besides, how could they not understand the circumstances surrounding Divine Beasts?

"But..."

Agunas still tried to find reasons, but unfortunately, with a few casual explanations from Feng Yuan, it realized all its reasons couldn’t stand. Divine Beasts wouldn’t look at everything from a conspiratorial perspective without necessity, for that would only make them see everyone as enemies.

"But speaking of which, a Legendary Spirit Beast, could it be one of the teachers’ Beast Tamers?"

Seeing Agunas not rebutting, Feng Yuan smiled and curiously asked Veronia, since within the academy, students with Legendary Level Beast Tamers were almost non-existent; only the teachers had them. Wild ones?

He certainly didn’t believe a wild Legendary Spirit Beast would appear here. Veronia nodded and glared at Agunas,

"That’s right, it’s indeed a Beast Tamer of your academy’s teachers. I don’t think any harm is intended; at most, they’re just being a bit scheming."

Saying they have no intentions at all would be dishonest even to herself, but she could guess they might just want to win her over at most. No further action as those Beast Tamers already enjoyed the academy life, disliking weird entanglements.

After convincing the two Divine Beasts for a while, Feng Yuan stopped bothering them. After all, viewing them like humans, they could be considered adults. Though their thoughts at times were unique, it wasn’t completely incomprehensible.
