Chapter Nineteen

That night, she lay awake for hours remembering the feeling of Gregor’s mouth on her body while simultaneously regretting how the evening ended. So she was surprised when their bond pulled her into their dream world and she opened her eyes to the star-filled night sky of her youth. She lay on a bed of fallen palm fronds covered by a blanket, just as she so often had as a girl. A gentle breeze rustled heavy leaves of the palm trees clustered around her, while waves crashed against the shore. Gregor sat on the blanket beside her, his arm draped over one bent knee while he watched his finger trace circles on the bare skin of her stomach.

“I didn’t think you’d come tonight.”

Gregor’s gaze jumped to her face. “It seems I’m a glutton for punishment.”

“I’m sorry.”

Emotions flashed across his face. Surprise, longing, frustration, resignation. The last had her sitting up and taking his face in her hands.

“I don’t wish to be a bitch, Gregor, but there’s so much you don’t understand.”

“Then explain it to me.”

She dropped her hands and pulled her knees to her chest, then rested her cheek on her knees. “The frustrating part is that you already know, but as soon as you wake you’ll just think this all a dream.” His gaze clouded with confusion, but she pressed on. “When you wake up, I need you to trust me, to not give up on us.”

“I don’t understand.”

He shook his head, and she knew that reality and the dream were fighting for dominance, but she wasn’t ready to lose him to the real world yet.

She lifted her hand to cup his cheek, determined to make up for the evening in this way at least. “Never mind.” She pulled him down until his mouth hovered over hers. “In this place, there is only pleasure.”

The confusion disappeared from his gaze as desire turned his eyes golden and a smile curled the corners of his mouth. “Then let’s see how much pleasure you can take.” He pushed her onto her back and slipped his thigh between her legs, pressing hard against her sensitive pearl.

Nadia gasped. “More.”

He covered her mouth with his, his tongue sliding between her lips, while his leg moved in a steady rhythm between her thighs. Desire heated her blood, flowing through her body like a river of lava. Her nipples grew hard, begging for his touch. Breaking the kiss, he nipped and sucked his way down her neck. She arched her back, offering herself to him, feeling as though she would come out of her skin. His hands shaped her breasts, their size perfect for cupping the sensitive mounds. He flicked one hard nub with the tip of his tongue. Her body jerked as every nerve in her body responded. She slid her fingers into his hair, clutching his face to her breasts as he sucked one throbbing peak into his hot mouth, tearing a moan from her throat.

Kissing his way back up her neck to her ear, he sucked her earlobe, then bit down on it. She cried out, a fresh wave of moisture drenching his thigh.

“Gods, Gregor,” she whimpered. “You’re killing me.”

“Then let’s die happy,” he said, his fingers fluttering over the curls covering her mound, then sinking in to play her body as if she were an instrument and he the musician intent on creating a masterpiece.

Her stomach tightened as his fingers slid in and out of her channel, curling to stroke that special place deep inside with each thrust. The heel of his hand ground against the swollen pearl at the top of her slit, pushing her ever closer to the edge of a sensual cliff. Her blood rushed in her veins while Gregor’s pulse pounded under her fingertips.

The crest of her climax washed over her, fracturing her into tiny pieces as she arched up off the ground.

Needing him inside her, Nadia opened her eyes to urge him closer only to find herself alone in her bed. Again. She slammed her hands down on the sheets, her satisfaction turning into frustration. Gods-cursed dreamsharing.
