Chapter 53: : Taboo Tomb
Chapter 53: : Taboo Tomb
"Body refining leaf, bone strengthening pill", Xuan counts the items they had gotten for the dual medicine he needed to concoct.
They were in the market and everyone seems friendly with Xue Ming. Perhaps too friendly. Every store she walked past, they wave.
"You’ve named everything on the item list, except the cathedral", said Xue Ming.
"How did you know I needed that?"
That was the last thing they needed. But the cathedral wasn’t on the list. It was where all the items would be mixed in.
Without it concocting the medicine wouldn’t be possible. "Oh I just guessed", said Xue Ming. She didn’t want Xuan knowing she learned a bit of alchemy because of the alchemist exam.
"Yes but I won’t be using a cathedral", said Xuan, the cathedral was really expensive so back in the library sect, they didn’t have one.
Instead they learned another method giving the same results as the cathedral.
"I won’t be concocting the medicine today though, I still haven’t gone through the technique bookmark", Xuan sighs.
"Hey, how about I give you a tour round the capital?", Xue Ming said, Xuan looked at her for a while and thought what could possibly go wrong.
After all, it was just a quick tour.
It was now approaching midnight and Zhao Lan hasn’t seen Xuan, she sat on the rectangular stairwells at the entrance of the palace folding herself because of the cold.
Winter was yet to be over. She only wonders how the guards stationed outside manages with the cold.
Soon after the wait, Zhao Lan saw Xuan approaching the palace, she was about calling out his name but seeing Xue Ming’s head now appearing, Zhao Lan didn’t speak.
She saw them chatting and Xuan did notice Zhao Lan until they had walked to Xue Ming’s deceased mother’s Statue.
Xuan stops walking, same with Xue Ming, it was because Zhao lan was staring at them with an unfriendly look.
Without saying anything, Zhao Lan left. And Xuan quickly followed her behind.
"Zhao Lan; is something wrong?", Xuan asked, he could clearly see she was pissed off.
But why? He didn’t take Zhao Lan for the type to be jealous because she accepted Li Feng having sex and sharing Xuan with her.
"What’s wrong Xuan? Why would you go around cultivating with a school girl and on top of that you ended up coming late"
"Oh that; it was complicated Zhao Lan I swear", said Xuan, he tried explaining things but then he asked a question instead. "How did you know though?"
"That I won’t tell you"
Unless Zhao Lan was somehow spying on him or rumors spread like a woman’s leg in the capital. It hasn’t even been a day yet.
Xue Ming stood at beside the statue watching them talk, she could clearly hear everything and no one told her twice before she left unannounced.
Realizing Zhao Lan doesn’t want her there, she had to leave feeling sad, not because of Zhao Lan, but Xuan leaving her.
"You’re freezing, what happened?", Xuan asked her. But Zhao Lan did not respond.
It was winter anyway, she was expected to be cold but gets was unusual and she wouldn’t tell Xuan, Zhao Ian dismissed herself and walk away inside the house.
That night, Zhao Lan divides the space on the bed with the pillows. And the wind got heavy that night.
The wind blowing inside the room made her feel even more cold, and as Xuan was about standing up to shut the windows, Zhao lan grabbed his arm.
She was still sleeping while hugging his arm tight. "Woah, you’re freezing Zhao Lan", but she couldn’t hear him, since he couldn’t stand up, Xuan shut the windows with a gesture of his fingers.
"How did I end up loving a pervert child like you? I’m even older than you are", was what Xuan hear the sleeping Zhao Lan said.
The barricades dividing the bed were now gone and Zhao lan was resting her head on top of Xuan’s chest, trying to feel warm.

Next day, Xuan was walking his way to the academy with the lots of students on the mountains, then he heard someone calling his name.
Han Bai dodged the students to make sure he ran to Xuan, however, reaching the place he wanted, he didn’t see Xuan, not even ahead.
"Where’d he go so quick"
What Han Bai did not know was that Xuan was hiding just behind him. "The hell do I always attract weirdos", Xuan mutters.
However, when classes began, Xuan couldn’t hide from Han Bai who made sure he sat next to him.
Although it gave Han Bai discomfort because almost all the girls were looking at them, no, looking at Xuan.
"Xi Ning, did you change cream?", a girl asked.
"Why would I change my cream, red berries lotion are the best, would never" , Xi Ning replied.
The girls sitting beside her looked at themselves. There was another way to be sure it took effect. "Xi Ning did you get a breath through?", they asked.
It was known among them that Xi Ning was still at early Martial realm stage 03 but after cultivating with Xuan yesterday, Xi Ning noticed the changes.
It normally takes three to five times of cultivation with other men to get a break through or appear more beautiful with her skin.
But Xuan’s vanilla was a cheat code, she was now at mid martial realm stage five and her skin was glowing better than yesterday’s.
"No, there wasn’t any breakthrough", Xi Ning lied. "And yes I did change my skin care, to blue berries lotion"
Xi Ning had her reasons for lying, one was so her friends wouldn’t look like her and the second was because she didn’t want to share Xuan.
At least not with them. The girls looked at themselves, could be true and a lie, they couldn’t tell. So they just agreed.
"Hey remember me from the other day?"
Xuan sighs. "
Han Bai got home after school; he was living with his sick mom and little sister. On his way home, he managed to smuggle a few snacks.
Han Bai cut it in half and gave one to his sick mother and little sister.
Their home wasn’t decent at all; it was a rundown house with leaking rooftops. Han Bai was only able to attend the dual academy by scholarship luck.
The scholarship was given to be an alchemist, but he changed course. Now he realized he had made a big mistake.
Because maybe if he was an alchemist, he’d be able to treat his mom by now. Han Bai sighed.
"You should eat this, Han," his mother weakly said.
"Oh no, no, I made a new friend today, and he bought me something to eat, so I begged him to buy you guys the bread," Han lied.
He didn’t wait for his mom to say anything else and just left there, entering the only room that was divided by a little torn curtain.
By the friend, he was thinking of Xuan. "His stage is at Divine Stage 08, but it’s been locked, and he thinks he’s at Martial Realm Stage 08," said Han Bai.
When everyone was busy enjoying the little showdown scene between Xuan and Xi Ning, Han Bai sensed something they didn’t.
The aura of a god. Xi Ning was undoubtedly at the early Martial Realm he sensed, but also the late Divine Stage Eight.
To the naked sense, it was masked as Martial Realm Stage Eight. Not even Xuan knew that.
As Han Bai was thinking, a little purple wasp appeared in front of him, buzzing. This was his lame spirit beast that knew how to do one thing.
And that was exactly what the spirit beast was doing. "What? You know where the tomb of a taboo god is? Shit, there could be treasures there," said Han Bai.
The buzzing of the purple wasp increased as if it was having a conversation with Han Bai. Of course, it was.
"Dangerous, uh, are you certain of it? The treasures?"
--[Bzzz... Buzz...Zix]—[Yes, you moron, I’ve always been certain of everything. You and your party are just too scared to raid a little labyrinth.]
