Chapter 372 - 202: Just a Trivial Deed
Chapter 372 - 202: Just a Trivial Deed
Francis Johnson didn’t speak. He just pressed a button on the long table, and a virtual screen appeared in front of him. This is the new type of computer their agency is using now, no longer using traditional tablet screens.
Out of the corner of her eye, Lawrence Winters caught a glimpse of the lively highway scene that suddenly appeared on the opposite long table, and her eyes widened as she asked, "What’s this?"
The virtual screen in front of Francis Johnson was visible from both sides, just like double-sided embroidery.
Ian Lothrop enthusiastically explained, "This is the ... Nine Palace Lotus Formation you created this morning."
He paused, confused, and asked, "... Is it really called the Nine Palace Lotus Formation? Are you tricking me?"
"Of course not." Lawrence said casually, but her eyes were glued to the highway surveillance images that Francis Johnson displayed.
To be honest, she and Nick Zeller had used this thing countless times to shake off other Feng Shui Masters’ tracking, but even she had never truly seen how their method actually worked.
Francis Johnson had re-edited the surveillance footage, and the image of a car was greatly reduced until it looked like a tiny bee flying among the flowers.
"A little bee, flying into the flowers, wagging your honey, packing it into my jar..."
Lawrence Winters hummed her self-made nursery rhyme, as she watched the car she and Kenneth Osborne were in weave through the highway.
Every step it took left a tiny black dot on the screen, marking its route.
Finally, these small black dots were connected one by one, forming an endless chain of figure-eights, each slightly angled differently from the last.
From a high vantage point, it was obvious that these angles were even the same, and it really looked like a blooming double-petaled lotus.
As the car moved along these figure-eight petals, they seemed to animate and come to life.
The afterimages played back on the retina frame by frame, like watching a cartoon, completely capturing their attention so much so that they couldn’t see the other traffic around them.
Finally, when they rushed off the highway, the double-petaled lotus suddenly disappeared, as the closed figure-eights broke in the middle one by one, turning into zeros, then vanished like bubbles into the air.
Lawrence watched with great interest, repeatedly exclaiming, "So beautiful! Simply amazing! It even disappears in the end! Awesome! I’ll give it double thumbs up!"
Ian Lothrop: ...
Francis Johnson: ...
Only Kenneth Osborne smiled, standing with his hands behind his back next to Francis Johnson, feeling very relaxed.
Ian Lothrop glanced at the still bustling virtual screen, then at the approving and amazed face of Lawrence Winters, and curiously asked, "... Lawrence, haven’t you seen this scene before?"
"No." Lawrence shook her head, "I don’t have this equipment, how would I know what it looks like."
She was by no means adept at hacking into highway surveillance footage with her skills.
She enthusiastically looked at Francis Johnson and asked, "Mr. Johnson, how did you connect to the highway surveillance?"
Of course, Francis Johnson couldn’t tell the truth, so he vaguely said, "I had help from a friend."
Lawrence nodded knowingly, not pressing the issue further, changing the topic, "Look! Isn’t this lotus I drew beautiful? And Kenneth’s driving skills are even better! It was my first time collaborating with him, and he could immediately understand my intentions, executing them flawlessly!"
Ian Lothrop nodded repeatedly, praising, "Indeed, it’s excellent. You gave great directions, and Kenneth executed them perfectly; otherwise, it wouldn’t be such a perfect image."
Lawrence was delighted to hear this, giving Kenneth Osborne a thumbs up from across the long table: "Kenneth, you’re the best!"
Kenneth Osborne laughed, "It’s Nora who directed well, I just did a small insignificant task."
Francis Johnson pulled a corner of his mouth into a smile and said under his breath, "You two better stop showing off your love, my teeth are going to rot from the sweetness."
Lawrence said seriously, "Mr. Johnson, you’re just jealous. I can see it in your starry eyes and your glowing forehead; your Peach Blossom Star must be moving."
Ian Lothrop also slapped his thigh, laughing, "Exactly, exactly! He sees everything as a flower! He must be lovesick!"
Francis Johnson ignored Ian, looking at Lawrence, perplexed, " ... I know about Purple Star, Literary Star, Greedy Wolf, Honest Star, and Break Army, but I’ve never heard of Peach Blossom Star. Where’s that star from?"
Lawrence laughed, "This is where you don’t understand, the Peach Blossom Star is a term specific to the Celestial Path Sect, not astronomy. The Purple Star, Literary Star, Greedy Wolf, Honest Star, and Break Army you just mentioned are all astronomical stars. Purple Star is the North Star, and the other four are part of the Big Dipper."
"And the Peach Blossom Star is a term from Purple Star Divination System."
Lawrence continued, "The Purple Star Divination System is formed by using a person’s lunar birthday plus their birth time, matched with the Twelve Zodiac, along with the Fourteen Star Plates arrangement. Greedy Wolf and Honest Star are among them, considered the most powerful Peach Blossom Stars. So, what you mentioned was the star chart with the strongest romantic luck, which is why I said your Peach Blossom Star was moving!"
"If you know this, then I truly have to admire your vast knowledge and memory!"
Lawrence even made a slight bow toward Francis Johnson.
At that moment, her entire demeanor changed, carrying a bit of the gallant air of an adventurer, lending texture to her grace, and a maturity beyond her years.
Kenneth Osborne looked ahead with a smile, seemingly not looking at Lawrence, but only he knew she was the only one in his mind.
Ian Lothrop burst out laughing, clapping and said, "Purple Star Divination System?! You know about Purple Star Divination System?"
Lawrence shook her head, spreading her hands, regretfully saying, "... I don’t know."
Ian Lothrop: "..."
What a waste of effort, how to take back the promise of some seafood fried rice from a certain country?
