Chapter 340 - 186: Major Public Blunder (Second Update, for Alliance Hierarch enigmayanxi) (2)

Just as the door was pushed open, Lawrence Winters let out a light "ow".Kenneth Osborne quickly slipped inside, only to see Lawrence covering his face with his hands, mumbling, "Kenneth, you walk so quietly! You hit my nose, and it hurts so much!"

Kenneth looked at her, then at the door, and said casually, "Why didn’t you go outside if you wanted to listen to their conversation? Hiding behind the door like a sneak, could you actually hear anything?"

"Not very clearly, but it’s better than nothing." Lawrence put down his hand and said with a cheeky smile, "But now that you’re here, I don’t need to eavesdrop. Tell me quickly, how did my uncle and the grandmaster trick those two?"

Lawrence’s attitude was noticeably warmer than when she dealt with Lucas Harlow and Edward Foster.

Kenneth’s mood improved immediately.

He bent down and scooped Lawrence up horizontally, walking towards the bed, "Weren’t you supposed to rest in bed? Do you dare to defy doctor’s orders?"

"I wouldn’t dare..." Lawrence laughed, "I might defy the doctor’s orders, but I wouldn’t dare defy yours, Kenneth."

"With such sweet talk, should I have a taste?" Kenneth said as he leaned down and kissed her lips again.

Successfully making Lawrence blush and close her mouth.

But just after he kissed her, she involuntarily licked her lips.

Kenneth quickly averted his gaze, chuckled, and said, "Little seductress."

Then he pinched her cheek before casually sitting beside her on the bed, pulling out his phone, "We’re free now, shall we play some games?"

"Ah? Really?! Awesome! Let’s go! I’ll rank you up!" Lawrence was overjoyed, lying on the bed and arching her back to reach for her phone.

Kenneth couldn’t bear to look at that posture.

He stretched his arm, picked up the phone from the bedside table, and tossed it to Lawrence, saying casually, "Here, don’t hold that position. You don’t want to be stuck in bed, do you?"

Lawrence: "..."

She collapsed on the bed in laughter, "Kenneth, you’re at it again!"

"What kind of dirty imagination do you have?" Kenneth gave her a sideways glance, "I was just worried you’d strain your back."

Then he added nonchalantly, "You might have a family trait, ancestral back strains."

Lawrence immediately thought of her grandmaster taunting her uncle earlier in the living room and tried hard not to laugh, her face turning red from holding it in.

She knew her uncle was exaggerating, but such a crash from boasting was rare.

However, when she was little, it was indeed her uncle who single-handedly worked to support her and her mother, and she had to give Nick credit for that.

So Lawrence held back her laughter and seriously told Kenneth, "When I was young, before returning to River City, I wasn’t in good health, and was hospitalized every now and then. My mom lost her job and wasn’t well either; it was my uncle who supported us with his work. Though he exaggerated, I still feel it’s not baseless."

Kenneth was briefly stunned and said, "Are you saying your uncle really used to juggle multiple jobs at once?"

"Definitely, but whether it was carrying sacks at a construction site or doing side jobs, it’s hard to say." Lawrence beckoned Kenneth to come closer and whispered, "My uncle is a college graduate. He was a top student back in school!"

Kenneth: "..."

That was really hard to imagine.

Nick Zeller had such a rogue and street-smart demeanor, he seemed like someone who grew up hustling, barely able to write his own name...

Kenneth didn’t mean to look down on those with little education; he was just stating a fact.

Lawrence continued, "My mom and uncle thought I was too young to remember anything back then, but I was quite aware at an early age."

Kenneth snapped back to reality and laughed, "Really? I remember the first time I met you, you were just three years old. That was already in River City. So before you were three, do you remember where you were?"

Lawrence tilted her head and thought for a moment, "I remember a little. I recall a hospital building where the decor was particularly luxurious. The lights on the ceiling were beautiful, like a blooming lotus."

"I also remember someone constantly talking in my ear, buzzing like a fly, it was so annoying."

Kenneth chuckled lazily, "That being said, I also remember things from before I was three."

"Oh? What do you remember?" Lawrence asked, very interested, "What were you up to before you were three?"

"Eating and sleeping, sleeping and eating," Kenneth replied calmly, "When not eating or sleeping, I was carried around by my sister."

Lawrence: "..."

If he hadn’t mentioned it, she would have almost forgotten Kenneth had a sister he was particularly close to, Brooke Osborne.

"So what if you have a sister?" Lawrence rolled her eyes at him, "Come on! Let’s game together! Let me show you how it’s done!"

Kenneth couldn’t be bothered with her taunting; once in the game, he’d either beat her easily or she’d win by following his lead, with no third option.

But as Lawrence picked up her phone, she realized it was dead and had already turned off.

She hurriedly took out the charger to plug it in.

Not long after, her phone turned on, and she found numerous unread messages, WeChat texts, and missed calls popping up.

Almost all were from Edward Foster and Lucas Harlow.

Lawrence let out an "oh" and sighed, "Turns out my phone was dead; otherwise, they wouldn’t have come here. It was just a misunderstanding! Purely a misunderstanding!"

Those two couldn’t reach her and, hearing she was on sick leave for a week, they must have rushed over to check what was going on...

She shook her head and told Kenneth, "It’s fine, Kenneth."

While the two of them played games on their phones in Lawrence’s bedroom, Edward Foster and Lucas Harlow were being thoroughly interrogated by the old Daoist and Nick in the living room.

Edward was nearly overwhelmed, yet he was here to see Lawrence.

Lawrence had only taken one glance before running off, leaving him clueless about her current situation.

He glanced around the living room, noticed that Kenneth was no longer there, and became alert, asking, "Mr. Zeller, may I go see Lawrence? It’s getting late, and I need to return to the office to handle some work."

Lucas Harlow also said, "I have something to discuss with Lawrence. She’s my agent, and she needs to review and sign my contracts."

The old Daoist and Nick Zeller simultaneously said, "Sure, no problem."

Nick even offered to lead the way, "Come on, follow me this way, gentlemen."

He strode forward to Lawrence’s bedroom, deliberately not announcing himself, and pushed the door open saying, "Lawrence! Mr. Foster and Mr. Harlow are here to see you!"

The bedroom door was pushed open, and Kenneth was sitting by the bed, Lawrence lying across his lap, happily shouting while holding her phone, "Snipe him! Blast his head! Steal his car!"
