Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 329 - 181: First Kiss (Third Update)

Chapter 329 - 181: First Kiss (Third Update)

When Lawrence Winters fell off the tenth floor, she truly experienced what it means to be "at the edge of life and death."Terrified, she closed her eyes, her mind blank, unable to think of anything, and fell heavily onto a soft surface, bouncing high.

Though the ground was not hard and quite bouncy, the impact still made her dizzy.

Kenneth Osborne was watching the woman fall from the tenth floor, initially thinking it was Nora. But when she bounced back up, he realized it was Lawrence!

"Nora!" Kenneth’s mind went blank, unable to recall anything. He instinctively lunged forward to catch Lawrence as she fell off the air cushion.

Lawrence opened her eyes, and the first thing she saw was Kenneth’s strikingly handsome face.

But the panic and worry on his face slightly ruined his beauty.

Lawrence wanted to lift her hand to pat his face, telling him to relax, but she was too sore to even lift her arm.

She remembered asking her uncle to call the police for firefighters to prepare an air cushion before going upstairs. It seemed to have saved her life.

Lawrence smiled at Kenneth.

Kenneth scooped her up, saying, "I’ll take you to the hospital!"

The ambulance arrived on the scene. Despite the air cushion, the fall from such a height could easily cause a concussion, needing hospital observation.

Lawrence was groggy as Kenneth held her tightly and carried her into the ambulance.

Not long after, she completely passed out.

...

When she woke up, unsure of the time, her mouth was dry, her throat felt as if filled with sawdust, making her unable to speak.

As she slightly moved, Kenneth, who was sleeping beside her hospital bed, also woke up.

Seeing Lawrence frown and somewhat uncomfortably move her neck, Kenneth asked softly, "What’s wrong? Are you uncomfortable? Do you want some water?"

Lawrence tried to nod but found she couldn’t move her head, so she blinked instead.

Kenneth touched her hand, saying gently, "You have a slight concussion. The doctor has fixed your head in place, so you can’t move for now."

Lawrence blinked again, indicating she understood.

Kenneth rose to get her a cup of warm water, soaked a cotton swab in it to moisten her lips, then brought a straw to her mouth, allowing her to drink by herself.

This way, it wouldn’t spill everywhere.

Lawrence’s head was immobile, but she was gradually regaining her strength.

She drank the water eagerly and quickly finished a whole cup.

After drinking, she felt revived again.

Her throat was still a bit uncomfortable, but she was able to speak now.

She coughed lightly before asking, "What about Nora? Is she okay?"

Kenneth sighed, "She’s fine. Resting in the next room."

Lawrence: "..."

"...What happened? Don’t tell me she jumped too..." Lawrence said gloomily, "I’ll regret trying to persuade her—wasting my life."

"Don’t talk nonsense." Kenneth quickly knocked on the small wooden table three times, "You’re fine, isn’t she your friend?"

"She is, but I can’t understand wanting to live or die for a man," Lawrence said, pouting.

Kenneth was at a loss for words. After a while, he asked quietly, "...so what you said earlier, about being with me, does it still count?"

"Of course it counts!" Lawrence glared at him, her dark eyes sparkling, making Kenneth feel better, "Really? I was worried you’d back out."

"How could I? I’m Lawrence Winters, a woman of my word." If Lawrence could move, she’d certainly slap her chest proudly.

She looked at Kenneth seriously, saying, "Kenneth, I have one request for you: we’re good now, but who knows about the future."

"You can deceive my feelings, but you absolutely cannot cheat my money!"

Kenneth tugged at the corner of his mouth, "...Can I ask why?"

Lawrence said righteously, "Why?—Because feelings aren’t worth money, my dear Kenneth!"

Kenneth wanted to sew her mouth shut, saying irritably, "I’ll pretend your head is still not fully recovered. Hurry and sleep, or I’ll..."

"What will you do?" Lawrence challenged him, "I can’t move now, don’t take advantage of my illness to end my life!"

Kenneth was both amused and frustrated. Only Lawrence could make him smile even when he was most worried.
