Chapter 298 - 167: I’m Your True Fan (First Update)
Joseph Saunders was completely subdued now, not daring to attempt opening Joyce Shaw’s office anymore. He quietly packed up his things and left the company with Mary Palmer....
This Friday, Kenneth Osborne also returned home early.
Tonight they would be moving into the newly purchased large flat. The furniture and daily necessities there were already bought, but they still needed to set things up.
To put it simply, besides the furniture, everything else was still neatly packed in boxes.
Nick Zeller and the Daoist had been living there since Monday specifically to receive packages and organize the furniture.
Today Kenneth Osborne, Lawrence Winters, and Gabrielle Winters were also going to officially move in.
Gabrielle Winters didn’t pack anything. She just cleaned the house, washed and dried the bed sheets, and put them away, only covering the bed with a bedspread.
The kitchen utensils were also washed clean and placed in the cabinets.
Every corner was spotless, looking completely like a model home ready for a magazine photo shoot.
Lawrence Winters packed his laptop bag and two small bags, while Kenneth Osborne only took his laptop bag and briefcase, along with a set of clothes for changing.
He didn’t have many clothes to begin with, buying several sets inside and out over the past few days, all delivered to the new home.
Although the large flat wasn’t his, Kenneth Osborne was still infected by Lawrence Winters’ excitement and was full of anticipation for the new life there.
"Gabrielle, can we go now?" Kenneth Osborne knocked on Gabrielle Winters’ door, waiting outside with Lawrence Winters.
Gabrielle Winters came out carrying a large Hermès Kelly bag, smiling, "Should we take a taxi over, or have Lawrence’s great uncle pick us up?"
"Great uncle said he’d pick us up. He just texted me saying he’ll be here soon. Let’s head directly to the estate entrance," Lawrence Winters glanced at his phone, "It’s about time."
After speaking, he stared at Gabrielle Winters’ Hermès Kelly bag in surprise, "Mom, when did you buy this bag?! Is it the real deal?!"
A Hermès Kelly bag could buy a house in their remote hometown or serve as a down payment for a two-bedroom apartment outside the Fifth Ring Road in Capital City.
Although Lawrence Winters knew his family wasn’t short on money, he had never aspired to own a Hermès Kelly bag.
His gaze involuntarily kept drifting towards it.
Gabrielle Winters chuckled, "Your great uncle bought it for me, said it was my half-year bonus. It’s quite pricey, but honestly, I’d rather have cash."
Lawrence Winters, feeling a bit envious, said, "...Adults make choices, kids want everything! —— I’m just a kid, I want it all."
Kenneth Osborne laughed, pulling her hand, "...Don’t be greedy, I’ll get you everything."
Even knowing it was just a joke, Lawrence Winters was overjoyed.
She walked out the door with Kenneth Osborne, smiling, "Kenneth, don’t make too many empty promises, or beware I’ll have you cash them in."
"...You have the large flat, "Alright then." Gabrielle Winters nodded and walked out with them, leaving the apartment they had lived in for almost a year.
Nick Zeller was impressively punctual. Just as they reached the estate entrance, Nick Zeller’s Grand Cherokee drove up.
Kenneth Osborne stepped forward, opened the car door, and invited Gabrielle Winters to sit in the passenger seat next to Nick Zeller.
He then stepped back, opened the back seat door for Lawrence Winters to get in.
Lawrence Winters usually sat in the passenger seat next to Nick Zeller, but seeing her mother there, she had no choice but to climb into the backseat.
Kenneth Osborne was the last to get in, sitting next to her.
Lawrence Winters still seemed a bit unhappy, pouting and looking out the window.
Up front, Nick Zeller was already chatting with Gabrielle Winters about tomorrow’s housewarming party.
Kenneth Osborne smiled, intentionally finding a topic, saying softly to her, "Nora, do you think I should continue partnering with SSA Private Equity Fund?"
This question instantly caught her attention.
She turned back, tilting her head curiously asking, "Why not partner? Mr. Zhao is pretty awesome; I heard their fund has a lot of money!"
"Mr. Zhao seems fine for now, but you can never really know someone..." Kenneth Osborne hesitated for a moment, originally not intending to say anything, but with those eyes of Lawrence Winters fixed on him, almost magical, he couldn’t resist speaking up, "...I don’t know what he really does... I just feel... his identity is somewhat mysterious... I’m a law-abiding citizen, and I don’t want to deal with people whose details are unclear."
Lawrence Winters laughed, "Kenneth, you are indeed very cautious. Honestly, I can’t figure out Mr. Zhao’s identity either."
She sneaked a look at the front seats, noticing Nick Zeller was enthusiastically chatting with her mom, Gabrielle Winters, and then gestured to Kenneth Osborne with her finger, "Kenneth, come closer. I have something to tell you..."
