Chapter 202: The Epic Perspective of Fey

Chapter 202: The Epic Perspective of Fey

Zoven looked at the Fey before him, unable to suppress the panic rising in his expression.

As he continuously awakened his Fae Bloodline and broke through his limits, he woke up one day to see this Fey before him, an entity only he could perceive—Lilian.

According to her, she was the progenitor of their specific branch of human and Fey half-bloods.

In other words, Lilian was technically his great-great-great-great-ancestor!

At the time, Zoven did not believe her at all. After all, how could a Fey barely the size of a palm be his ancestor?

Besides, countless years had passed. Even if she was an ancestor, how could she possibly still be alive today?

However, Zoven gradually came to believe Lilian's words.

Based on the information Lilian provided, he gained a rough understanding of the unique way Fey existed.

These so-called Fey were also known by names such as the Lady of the Lake or the Forest Nymph.

They lived in a special rift between planes, possessing an innate ability to observe history. Furthermore, they essentially never aged and would not die naturally of old age.Of course, this also brought about an issue. It was practically impossible for them to interfere with the physical reality.

Only a select few fated individuals might encounter them by a lake or within a forest, engaging in a brief interaction before parting ways once more.

Only a Contractor would find their body gradually changing, thereby acquiring a Fae Bloodline.

Therefore, a Fae Bloodline was not exclusively inherited through birth.

Throughout this process, the descendants of some Contractors could also awaken a certain degree of Fae Bloodline.

Currently, the world was in a critical period of historical transition, allowing Fey to act in the outside world to a limited extent, though ordinary people still found it difficult to perceive them.

Lilian had taken a tour around and discovered that the situation with the Lillian Family was not too problematic. Their bloodline had simply grown sparse over time, making it exceedingly difficult for the current members to notice Lilian's existence.

It was only Zoven, perhaps stimulated by some crucial aura of history, who experienced an intense bloodline atavism that allowed him to see her.

From the moment he laid eyes on her, Lilian was able to reciprocally provide support to Zoven.

The Qi Instrument branch that Nemus had planted in Zoven through their contract, along with most of his other restrictive methods, were entirely purged by Lilian.

As a Fey who had lived for thousands of years, spending the vast majority of her time sequestered in a special dimensional rift, the techniques she had mastered were incredibly formidable.

"This Church's Sealing Art is not particularly complex, so why is it this powerful?" Lilian murmured, simultaneously directing Zoven to flee toward a different location while trying to decipher the exact nature of the ring of seals bound to his hand.

Ordinary Sealing Arts could rarely escape her scrutiny, yet this particular seal was unreasonably potent, bordering on the illogical.

"Although it merely restricts you from leaving this city, acting as a highly specific seal with clear restraints, it still shouldn't be..." Lilian suddenly cried out. "You are in massive trouble! The only thing capable of pulling off a seal of this magnitude is a Myth-Related Power!"

Once all impossible scenarios were eliminated, whatever remained, no matter how incredible, had to be the truth.

"How is that possible? How could Nels, that man, possess the power of a Mythic Rank entity? He is still begging for a Historical Number to become a Legend Rank!" Zoven exclaimed in disbelief. After all, his entire being was fixated on exacting revenge against Nemus.

"It is entirely possible," Lilian stated with utter seriousness, an expression quite striking on her tiny face.

"A Mythic Rank cannot be achieved through normal channels. To ascend to the Mythic Rank, a Mythic Rank entity must first perish."

"Over the passage of countless ages, even a Mythic Rank being faces the possibility of falling."

"The artifacts they leave behind might retain traces of that mythic power."

"That Nels who drained your blood might have obtained one of these left-behind relics."

"Then what do we do now?" Zoven asked while sprinting away at top speed. He had no idea what had happened to his family, nor what his own future held.

After confirming Lilian's identity, Zoven had assumed he was stepping into the highlight of his life, fully believing he was destined to become the protagonist of history.

He thought he would follow in his ancestors' footsteps and become a legendary hero of this world.

Yet, escaping did not lead to the vast sea and wide sky of freedom he had envisioned. Instead, amid the crushing disparity between his expectations and reality, he belatedly began to worry about his family.

'Now that I have fled, how will Nemus treat my family?'

'And that feeling of impending doom just now...'

"Right now, this seal of yours was most likely only subjected to a slight influence of Divine Power."

"If I spend a bit of time, I might be able to unravel it," Lilian concluded after verifying the seal's structure.

"For the time being, just run! Your best bet is to find those who are enemies with that Nels!" Lilian could roughly sense the shifting tides of history.

Nemus was currently trying to acquire a Historical Number, which meant he would naturally have to face the trials of history.

Since she was one link in this chain, her guidance would inevitably push Zoven to interact with the other links.

In other words, there was a high probability that other people capable of opposing Nemus still existed within Tail Fin Town.

"You do not need to worry too much. Although my power can only act upon you, with my support, the average Iron Rank will be no match for you."

As a special life form, a Fey's power only grew stronger with the passage of time. Lilian's current strength was roughly equivalent to a Golden Rank entity.

However, her status as a Golden Rank came with severe limitations. For instance, she was practically incapable of influencing the Material Plane, and all her power was only useful to a Fae Bloodline bearer who could actually perceive her.

Even so, knowing she could only purely support Zoven, she still possessed an immense amount of confidence.

Zoven nodded. At this point, his only option was to follow Lilian's instructions.

"Then, can I go back home and check on them now?" Zoven asked Lilian, a sudden thought occurring to him.

"Your family is probably all dead by now. You won't see them even if you go back, so why return?" Lilian replied with genuine bewilderment.

This response left Zoven rooted to the spot, staring at Lilian in absolute disbelief.

"What did you just say?" Zoven simply could not comprehend the words slipping from Lilian's mouth.

It was as if she wasn't talking about his entire family being slaughtered, but rather commenting on a roadside flower withering away.

"They died," Lilian repeated, clearly failing to grasp Zoven's confusion. "When humans are killed, don't they die?"

"But do not worry. With my help, you will absolutely be able to exact your revenge."

At that exact moment, Zoven profoundly understood a lesson his father had once taught him.

'Fey are immortal beings. What they possess is an Epic Perspective shaped by the ages.'

'They view worldly affairs from a vantage point that transcends humanity.'

'To them, it is as if they are simply flipping through a Tome of History.'

'Their perspective is forever fixed upon heroes and epics.'

'As for everyone else, they are perhaps nothing more than a death count within the historical records.'
