Chapter 182: Progress and Improvement
Chapter 182: Progress and Improvement
"I still suffered the consequences of my inexperience."
"My initial setup for the Precepts had some issues," Nemus murmured thoughtfully, acknowledging his mistake.
The Divinity he had acquired was incomplete, carrying inherent limitations. Furthermore, his multiple identities meant that the subjects acted upon by the Precepts varied.
Excluding Angel A's precepts, Nemus actually only had two Precepts: Oath-keeping and Forgiveness.
Oath-keeping was easier to manage; its primary focus of enhancement was his Qi Instrument, the Oath Rope.
And the Oath Rope had indeed provided Nemus with countless conveniences.
The reason Nemus remained so perfectly hidden right now, devoid of almost any suspicion, was entirely due to the Oath Rope.
It connected Nemus with all the individuals who had signed a contract with him.
It provided remote communication, granted him countless extra fields of vision, and even assisted him with remote possession.
The Precept of Forgiveness, however, presented certain problems.Because it was a Main Rule, and once fulfilled, the subject of the Precept remained partially tied to others.
It required ensuring the continued survival of the forgiven individuals, which essentially meant it constantly occupied the operational capacity of his Divinity.
This was an issue Nemus had only recently discovered.
"Because I need to forgive different individuals, and the feedback transmitted from each person is inconsistent, although I can use this to form various traits, it ends up usurping far too many of the Divinity's functions."
"As a result, a considerable amount of the Divinity's power is wasted. Due to this usurpation and waste, if I were to condense other Precepts now, I wouldn't reap any benefits," Nemus reflected, summarizing the lessons he had learned.
A Main Precept, on the other hand, only required him to uphold it personally to avoid any fluctuations. It settled its feedback immediately and didn't occupy the Divinity's functions, meaning he could afford to make it a bit more complex.
Take the Oath Rope, for instance. It was inherently a functional item; the more traits it possessed, the better its effects.
Conversely, for a Main Rule—a precept that required continuous action and the maintenance of its results—the rules needed to be kept relatively simple.
'Still lacking experience. I wanted too much from the start,' Nemus couldn't help but think. Initially forgiving Downs had merely granted a pure Life Bonus.
Later, as he utilized the Holy Nails to absorb Faith, it transitioned from a pure Life Bonus to granting qualitative feedback.
During that process, his desire for too much had caused this particular Precept to become overly complicated.
'If it had only ever provided a Life Bonus, and I just selected a small amount of feedback to condense into other traits, it would have been much better. Perhaps my cultivation speed in gaining Attribute Values would have been even faster,' Nemus pondered.
However, Nemus felt no regret. First of all, the Precept of Forgiveness was not without its rewards. For example, the Self Protocol trait that Nemus had condensed with the help of various powers owed much to the traits provided by the Precept of Forgiveness.
Secondly, back then, Nemus's research and understanding of Divinity were nowhere near as deep as they were now. Crossing the river by feeling the stones meant making mistakes was perfectly normal; there was no need to agonize over it.
Finally, making a mistake didn't mean there was no opportunity to correct it.
Sensing the situation within his Divinity, his vision for future development grew increasingly clear.
"Just as I thought, the perception of Fate and the Revelations were not wrong."
"The changes in Isabella, Krew, and Purr will bring me crucial transformations."
"They will allow me to correct the mistakes I made while exploring my Divinity, and then further complete it!"
Nemus's train of thought gradually smoothed out. The only remaining area of ambiguity lay with Isabella.
After all, Isabella had not yet "awakened." She undoubtedly possessed something that could help Nemus, but what exactly it was remained unclear.
"But that isn't particularly important. History will push her to the crucial turning point, and the same goes for me." At this moment, Nemus was becoming increasingly familiar with the concept of the Historical Trajectory, his understanding of it growing sharper.
The Historical Trajectory was actually somewhat similar to a "time-traveler returning to the past."
Because they had returned to the past, they possessed the prophetic power to foresee future opportunities. And to dominate the Historical Trajectory meant using one's foresight to gradually seize the initiative, actively capturing those golden opportunities.
It was essentially a guarantee that the opportunity would appear; after all, as long as history wasn't recklessly altered, it wouldn't deviate.
However, whether one could grasp that opportunity depended entirely on personal ability.
If one's personal ability was sufficient, the opportunity would become a stepping stone, allowing them to advance further.
But if one's personal ability was lacking, it would be like a poor imitation—they would simply be crushed by the weight of that very opportunity.
Isabella was destined to be his opportunity. This was a fact Nemus had confirmed through the Historical Trajectory, through Revelations, and through his perception of Fate.
With this understanding, Nemus naturally felt no rush.
He would slowly develop his own power and faction, advancing steadily step by step. In the end, he would naturally be able to seize the opportunity.
Nemus possessed absolute confidence in this.
Subsequently, Nemus sank his consciousness, already beginning to observe his subordinates' work through the Oath Rope.
The first to take action was Purr's side.
Purr didn't act personally. If he were to make a move now, the commotion would be a bit too massive.
Therefore, he opted to act as a guide.
The one truly taking action was a young girl who appeared slightly anxious.
It was none other than Leah.
Over the past six months, Leah had spent the majority of her time with Angel A. For the remaining fraction, she was accompanied by her father, the Watchman, cooperating with Purr and Becky in the research and development of the Whale Transformation Sickness.
And over these six months, their greatest achievement was confirming one thing—Leah hadn't failed her Whale Transformation; she had succeeded.
Because Leah's initially ambiguous condition had grown increasingly clear as her state gradually stabilized.
The most crucial point was that she had already reached the Iron Rank.
That's right. Leah had undergone basically no cultivation—no Breathing Techniques, no Meditation Methods. Yet, after adapting to her physical changes, she had inexplicably broken through to the Iron Rank.
At the very least, her Attribute Values, traits, and the essence of her life were absolutely at the level of the Iron Rank.
Therefore, they could essentially conclude that Leah hadn't failed. She had successfully undergone the Whale Transformation, but the whale she transformed into was more anthropomorphic, closer to a gentle Floating Whale.
Instead of one of those "killer whales" that would eagerly devour people and incite riots among the Floating Whales.
Of course, this didn't mean Leah was completely "peaceful."
On the contrary, if Leah spent too much time away from Angel A's side, she would grow increasingly "anxious." This anxiety would exacerbate her restlessness, pushing her to transform toward becoming a killer whale.
"Just go check if there's any scent of whale oil, and then come right back."
"Once you're back, your part is done. You'll be able to stay with your big brother Angel A for a very long time," the Watchman consoled from the side, gritting his teeth.
Hearing her father's words, Leah nodded earnestly. In an instant, her entire aura seamlessly blended into the natural environment.
Compared to Purr and the Watchman, who had acquired the Whale Transformation Sickness through artificial modification, Leah didn't necessarily hold an advantage in raw strength, but she possessed her own unique power.
Such as the absolute favor of the Floating Whales.
