Chapter 159: Collapse

Chapter 159: Collapse

Al's combat prowess was not actually all that strong; the awakening of his elven bloodline merely gave him an opportunity to catch up to his peers.

However, it could not allow him to complete the accumulation of power that others had spent years building in just a short six months.

Therefore, facing Fass, who could openly rival those of the Iron Rank, he had almost no chance of winning.

Yet the flying steel orbs did not claim Al's life.

This was not because Fass still harbored some sort of affection for Al and chose to hold back.

Rather, it was because Al's teammates had arrived just in time.

Faintly pulsing mental power formed a barrier, intercepting the steel orbs.

"Isabella..." The first person Fass looked at was the most eye-catching figure in the crowd—Isabella.

The mental fluctuations Isabella emanated at this moment far exceeded the peak limit of the Black Iron Rank. It was obvious that after a period of consolidation, she had successfully completed her advancement to the Iron Rank.

Furthermore, Isabella was not an ordinary person; she possessed a special bloodline. When such a unique individual successfully completed their Life Path advancement, there was a high probability that the bloodline within their body would become activated as a result.

Not only could they acquire special traits from this, but they could also experience a massive leap in their attribute values.

Because of this, Isabella's current attribute value was not just in the teens, like a newly advanced Iron Rank, but had already surpassed the foundational stage, reaching the twenties.

Moreover, one could see that Isabella still held a vast amount of untapped potential. A single session of meditation right now might increase her value by another point.

A sudden epiphany during combat or a significant fluctuation of her spirit could unearth that potential and boost her attribute values even further.

However, Fass's gaze soon shifted to another person who had arrived—Gabriel.

"Where is my daughter?!" The first to speak, however, was not Isabella, but Priest Lina from the investigation squad.

Her reason for joining the squad was that her rebellious daughter had fled their home and subsequently joined the Construct Protocol.

Yet despite various searches during this time, they had still not found any trace of her daughter.

For this foray into the Clock Tower, it was only the three of them.

"Who knows?" Fass's eyes flickered slightly, showing no concern for the matter.

He then took the initiative to launch an attack.

A large number of steel orbs vibrated violently before suddenly unleashing a circular shockwave.

It rapidly expanded outward with Fass at the epicenter.

Several wooden pieces of furniture were instantly reduced to sawdust under the sheer force of the impact.

Everything else was also twisted and destroyed in the blink of an eye.

"Not good!" Isabella immediately realized the problem and quickly channeled her mental power to cast a spell.

She intended to use her magic to stabilize their surroundings.

Unfortunately, she was a step too late.

The shockwave seemed to have triggered some sort of pre-established mechanism.

The originally spacious interior of the tower rapidly began to collapse.

Amidst this collapse, everything else inside the tower was quickly torn apart or crushed.

The special space constructed through alchemy began to fall like a line of dominoes, starting with the very first piece toppled by Fass.

"Get out of here, quickly!" Realizing what was happening, Isabella swiftly completed her spellcasting.

Terrifying white flames surged out, forming a pillar of Holy Fire that crashed into one side of the tower.

Instantly, a massive gaping hole was burned through the structure.

But in the next second, the large hole twisted, warping into an irregular rift.

The spatial fluctuations happened too quickly—so fast that they barely had time to react. However, Isabella did not give in to despair. Instead, she swiftly observed the reactions in two distinct locations.

The first, naturally, was Fass.

Fass was definitely not the type to seek his own death. Since he had triggered this, he undoubtedly had his own plans and a viable escape route.

Sure enough, Fass made his move the very next moment. Staring at the collapsing Clock Tower, he suddenly leaped upward. The buoyancy created by the steel orbs lifted him into the air, carrying him to the center of the tower. His body then grew blurry, seemingly separated by a layer of spatial fluctuations.

Meanwhile, the second location was the breach Isabella had blasted open with her Holy Fire.

Sensing the magical fluctuations coming from that twisted hole, she felt her heart settle slightly.

Isabella had thoroughly investigated the spatial anomalies of the Clock Tower from the very beginning, so she naturally understood the hidden dangers within.

The reason she had entered a step later than Al was specifically to make advanced preparations outside just in case unexpected spatial changes occurred within the tower.

There were currently two ways to escape the Clock Tower: one was to follow Fass into the center of the tower, and the other was to rely on her own preparations.

Without hesitation, Isabella made her decision. She ignited her mental power and unleashed her divine arts.

At the same time, outside the Clock Tower, the other Priest who had stayed behind, Huck, swiftly cast the Discipline Spell he had prepared long in advance.

Discipline Spell: Limited Slowness!

This spell could force anything illuminated by its light into a sluggish state.

This slowness was not merely expressed in terms of physical speed.

For example, if applied to conditions like poisoning or bleeding, the time it took for the venom to spread or the blood to drain would also be significantly delayed.

The instant the spell was cast, Huck felt his magic being 'hijacked'.

It was Spell Hijack, the casting technique Isabella had learned from the Old Priest.

She then fused the hijacked Discipline Spell with her own Divine Art: Divine Intervention.

Added to this combination was the Sealing Art Isabella had recently mastered.

A massive magic array materialized between Isabella and Huck.

The power of Divine Intervention clashed against the spatial distortions. Combined with the slowing effect of the Discipline Spell, it delayed the collapse of their surroundings, thereby slowing down the spatial fluctuations.

At that moment, a passageway emerged.

The path was completely twisted and crooked, dotted with numerous glowing phenomena—the visual hallmark of Divine Intervention resisting the spatial forces.

These glowing spots essentially marked all the perilous hazards along the escape route.

"Get out first!" Isabella commanded calmly.

This synchronized spell was not specifically designed to counter spatial anomalies, so it would not hold for long.

Gabriel immediately scooped Lina up into his arms, while Isabella propelled her own body with mental power, rushing swiftly toward the exit.

Only Al remained behind, his gaze still fixed intently on Fass.

"You guys go first!" Al shouted before suddenly leaping out, diving straight toward the center of the Clock Tower.

Seeing this, Isabella could not help but feel a throbbing headache coming on.

This was not the first or second time Al had blatantly ignored orders and acted on his own.

Given the current situation, Isabella actually felt that his reckless behavior was entirely expected.

Thus, she decisively abandoned Al, fleeing the Clock Tower through the passageway alongside Gabriel and Lina.

In the final second before stepping out, Isabella glanced back. Both Al and Fass vanished as the spatial fluctuations advanced another degree.

Meanwhile, on the other side, in the Outskirts of Tail Fin Town.

Two silhouettes materialized in the wake of shifting spatial fluctuations.
