Chapter 118: Yes, Yes, Yes!

Chapter 118: Yes, Yes, Yes!

"You should have told me earlier that you needed me for something," White Fox said as she put on her clothes, using the mud on the ground to apply a simple disguise to herself.

Throughout the entire process, White Fox continuously probed them with her words.

Unfortunately, neither the Dual Swordsmen nor the Halfling brothers answered her; they merely escorted her toward the North District.

It was only at this moment that White Fox finally relaxed a little.

Although the people of the North District were equally twisted and cruel, they often maintained a peculiar sense of decency.

As long as you possessed value and understood the rules, they rarely disposed of a useful tool once its immediate purpose was served.

However, the further they walked, the more White Fox felt that something was amiss.

Soon, this feeling of unease reached its absolute peak.

"Are we heading to the Church?!" White Fox's eyes widened, staring at the Dual Swordsmen and the Halfling brothers in sheer disbelief.

Her ability to read people was quite sharp. These three were absolutely not members of the Church; the aura of the criminal underworld clinging to them was completely incompatible with such a holy place.Fortunately, their final destination allowed White Fox to breathe a slight sigh of relief.

They were not heading to the cathedral itself, but rather to the back door of a mansion situated a short distance away.

White Fox was brought inside without a hitch.

They headed straight upstairs, quickly arriving outside a study on the second floor.

"Alright, I will arrange for personnel to conduct a thorough investigation."

"Furthermore, the second batch of goods has arrived today."

"Please inspect them at your convenience, My Lord."

After a knock on the study door, someone inside could be heard delivering a report.

Subsequently, a one-armed man opened the door.

Standing at the threshold, White Fox slowly took in the scene inside as the door swung open.

The first person she noticed was someone with a scholarly air, looking much like an academic engaging in commercial affairs. He was standing to the side, reporting to the figure seated in the primary seat on the right.

White Fox's gaze had initially been sizing up this "scholar-merchant," but in the next second, her attention was completely captivated by the person in the main seat.

The man leaned back casually in his chair, holding a book in one hand, seemingly engrossed in his reading.

Sunlight spilled through the window and bathed him in a warm glow. In that moment, he appeared to be the very embodiment of the divine.

His facial features were entirely meaningless right now; his mere existence seemed to transcend the confines of the mortal flesh, exuding an extraordinary and ethereal aura.

However, the very next second, his gaze lifted from the pages and locked onto her.

All the previous divine implications brought by the sunlight were ruthlessly stripped away.

One side of him remained in the light, while the other half of his face, turning toward her, plunged deep into the contrasting shadows.

A suffocating sense of oppression seized White Fox's chest.

Not daring to look any longer, she hurriedly lowered her head.

"Good work, Dual Swordsmen, Halfling brothers," Nemus said, expressing his approval of the trio's efforts.

"Opper, you all may leave for now. Be prudent when handling the merchant guild's affairs, and contact me immediately if anything goes wrong."

Receiving the order, the successfully slimmed-down Opper bowed his head in respect and exited the study.

Arlo also gave a slight bow before following Opper out.

Soon, only Nemus and White Fox remained in the study.

"Lord Nels," White Fox greeted, kneeling on the floor in a delicate, submissive posture that fully displayed her alluring figure. Yet, at this moment, she did not dare use her charm techniques at all.

She had already recognized Nemus's true identity. Her charms were an ultimate temptation to vulgar men filled with mundane desires.

But to the lord sitting before her, it would only serve as a blatant provocation. "Stand up first." As soon as these words were spoken, White Fox paused in surprise before rising to her feet.

"I called you here regarding the matter with Cici," Nemus said. After glancing at White Fox and briefly analyzing her Body-Magic Art, he looked away.

The Number in this world was finite, and therefore, the Attribute Value a person could acquire was equally limited.

"I will tell you everything truthfully," White Fox replied honestly, not daring to offer the slightest resistance.

"Excellent. You have used a special item once before, haven't you?" Nemus stated with certainty.

Aside from a few unique individuals, it was fundamentally impossible to cultivate a Body-Magic Art to the numerical limits of a rank's Number.

In the early stages, one could not have it all. To grasp everything, one needed to reach the Golden Rank at the bare minimum to even qualify.

Even if this kind of Body-Magic Art were freely offered to him, he would not bother practicing it.

Judging from this point, it was obvious that after her Attribute Value had stalled at five or six, White Fox had used some method to acquire a special item capable of helping someone advance to the Iron Rank.

It might have been some vital material from a Floating Whale, or perhaps a secret potion internally passed down within the Church.

Such items could normally allow a Black Iron Rank at the Peak Limit to elevate their rank, but for White Fox, it merely pushed her to the Peak Limit of a conventional Black Iron Rank.

"Yes."

"Furthermore, conventional special items are no longer of any use to you," Nemus said, voicing a truth that plunged White Fox into despair.

She possessed enough talent and had even obtained a special item, yet she was fundamentally incapable of becoming an Iron Rank.

Thus, she could only continue clinging to the coattails of Nobles, selling her charms in search of a fleeting sliver of opportunity.

"You are unwilling to accept this."

"Yes."

"Come work for me." Nemus laid out his Bargaining Chips. "Cici Marie. I can hand her over to you once again."

Indeed, summoning White Fox here was primarily because of the situation regarding Cici Marie.

Following Cici Marie's capture and return to the cathedral, the Dartmenerly Family had once again fallen into silence.

They seemed to be waiting for Nemus to make his decision.

Moreover, Cici Marie was ultimately still a half-finished product. Fully refining her would require some time.

Therefore, everyone managed to keep their composure during this period.

"Yes!" White Fox took a deep breath and quickly confessed the entire situation.

Things were exactly as Nemus had anticipated; it was not White Fox who had deliberately persecuted Cici Marie.

The entire affair had actually been orchestrated from the shadows by the Dartmenerly Family, including the various substances White Fox received to stimulate the medicinal properties within Cici Marie's body.

It was just that Dartmenerly had not acted personally, instead delegating everything to White Fox.

They had also made it perfectly clear: if Nemus ultimately refused to return to the Dartmenerly Family, then Cici Marie would be hers to use.

Ordinary items could not facilitate her Advancement, but this Golden Elixir, refined using Holy Blood as its raw material, might just work for her.

Even knowing that she was highly likely just a disposable pawn in all of this, White Fox ultimately fell into the trap anyway.

She had expended tremendous effort to stimulate Cici Marie bit by bit, activating the Holy Blood constructed within her body through experiments and converting it into a boiling state.

This boiling state would alter Cici Marie. Once the Transformation was complete, they only needed to inject a certain high-energy substance to thoroughly ignite and undergo Purification, successfully refining the Golden Elixir.

Such high-energy substances were generally derived from Floating Whale materials.

"That was why the old pastor constantly sought to acquire Whale Oil while conducting his experiments."

Among the high-energy substances, the most suitable was naturally Whale Oil.

"However, Whale Oil has been strictly controlled recently, and the old pastor failed to capture Leah. Thus, he had no choice but to rely on Burning himself, forging the Pseudo-Saint Potion."
