Chapter 114: Reporting

Chapter 114: Reporting

After Fass woke up, he received the Alchemical Armguard and could feel the power flowing through his arm.

Of course, before utilizing it, he still needed to adapt to Mental Release.

This ability required practice. He had experienced a sudden Mental Power Enhancement, multiplying his strength several times over. If he did not adapt and practice, his already Agitated Psyche would only become increasingly dangerous.

"If you are not careful, you might just blow your own brains out," Becky warned, temporarily taking on the role of a teacher.

He guided Fass on how to direct the fluctuations of his Mental Power.

Fass's current condition was quite similar to being afflicted by a Curse.

Certain agony warlocks would use curses to inflict pain and madness, causing their victim's mental energy to spiral into Rampant Mental Energy, ultimately leading to self-harm.

"Therefore, you need to remain completely calm," Becky said, taking out a small ball and placing it in front of Fass for him to practice controlling.

Although Fass desperately wanted to rescue his family right away, he understood that if he could not even control his newfound strength, rushing over now would be To No Avail.

"Don't worry, Fass. I will go rescue them for you," Buke offered. By this point, he no longer viewed Fass as a mere subordinate. He astutely sensed that Fass held significant importance within the Construct Protocol.

After all, he himself had only been endowed with physical strength, whereas Fass had received the Endowment of mental power.

In terms of productivity, the mental domain was far more noble and valuable than the physical one.

Furthermore, several small details made it glaringly obvious just how highly valued Fass was.

Given this reality, he needed to pay extra attention to this matter.

'People tend to misdirect their anger,' Buke knew very well. When bad things happened, people would instinctively deflect their own faults and magnify the mistakes of others.

Take this current situation, for example. Buke gathering men in the Hemp Rope Gang's territory was the root cause.

Even though gathering around and ultimately leaving with Buke was Fass's own decision.

It was Fass who had failed to consider his family when making that choice, and it was Fass who eagerly sought help after they were captured.

However, someone blinded by displaced anger would not see it that way. He would only remember that Buke was the catalyst for everything, and that his current predicament was Buke's fault.

"So I have to rescue them, and I have to do it fast!" After asking for the physical descriptions of Fass's family members, Buke bid him farewell and immediately sprang into action.

He did not even return to the warehouse; instead, he headed straight for the Hemp Rope Gang's hideout.

Right now, his seal capacity had been expanded by Becky, and the Demonic Power existing within his body had multiplied several times over.

Not only had the duration increased, but the physical enhancements gained from this Temporary Power had also grown exponentially.

He was now completely confident in taking on the entire Hemp Rope Gang single-handedly.

'However, since this is a rescue mission, prioritizing the safety of the hostages is paramount.' Buke thought of this, which was why he decided to operate alone.

Most of the newly recruited members were Ordinary Persons. They could cheer and act as a distraction, but they would hardly be of much real use.

Buke swiftly arrived at the Hemp Rope Gang's base. Calling it a base was an overstatement; it was nothing more than a Dilapidated Tavern off Seventh Street.

Similar taverns were a dime a dozen throughout the South District.

For many laborers, after a grueling day of hard work, a mug of ale from places like this was the only thing that could soothe their exhausted souls.

Because of this, large and small taverns were scattered everywhere across the South District; you could practically find one on every other street.

Taking advantage of the night's cover, Buke did his best to stifle his movements.

He had some past experience as a thief, so this kind of stealth was not difficult for him.

To ensure there were no mistakes, he even directly activated his Demonic Power. This power made him incredibly agile, allowing him to easily vault over obstacles without making a single sound.

Very quickly, Buke slipped inside the tavern.

Evidently, the men of the Hemp Rope Gang had made a massive blunder.

They knew Fass's family was important and had arranged for guards to watch over them.

However, these thugs understood the importance of the Clerics even more.

Consequently, the few individuals in the Hemp Rope Gang who possessed a couple points of Attribute Value were currently hovering around the Clerics, serving as their escorts.

Acting like loyal lapdogs, they waited outside even late into the night. At a single call from a Cleric, they would immediately scramble forward, fighting for favor and eager to serve.

Therefore, the people guarding Fass's family in the back Room of the tavern were essentially just ordinary gang members.

After all, they never expected Fass and Buke to be so bold as to launch a rescue mission that very same night.

These grunts were incredibly arrogant when bullying Ordinary Persons, but facing Buke, who currently wielded Demonic Power, they were like helpless lambs without the slightest ability to resist.

Buke did not expend much effort at all to dispatch the guards and escort Fass's family away, leaving without causing a stir.

Meanwhile, in an inn not far from the tavern, Gabriel sensed that something was amiss.

He jolted awake from his light slumber.

"There is a commotion over at the tavern!" Gabriel got up immediately. Upon pushing his door open, he saw the leader and elders of the Hemp Rope Gang rushing over.

At this moment, Gabriel realized that they had been far too arrogant.

Fass's family were paupers, reeking of rot and filth. Moreover, Gabriel himself did not want to tarnish his reputation by associating with the kidnapping and threatening of a target's family.

Because of this, he had not brought Fass's family to the inn for holding.

This arrogance, deeply ingrained in their bones, was perhaps the very reason for their failure.

"Go gather the men, something is wrong at the tavern." Gabriel cast aside his reservations. Intensifying the circulation of his Breathing Technique, he instantly detected the scent of a Demon.

The leader and elders of the Hemp Rope Gang were equally startled. They dashed back to the tavern, only to find their subordinates sprawled across the floor and the room completely empty.

By this time, Buke had already been running with Fass's family for quite a while.

Brent and Galen also roused from their sleep. Instantly realizing that a rescue had taken place, they immediately joined Gabriel in a frantic search.

Unfortunately, they were a step too late. The scent of the Demonic Aura was growing fainter by the second, and they gradually lost track of which path their target had taken. The South District was simply too much of a labyrinth.

Coupled with the dead of night, conventional tracking methods were largely ineffective.

Just as Gabriel was giving chase while cursing his own carelessness, he suddenly noticed a figure sprinting toward him from ahead.

Gabriel went on high alert at once.

In the depths of the night, aside from the oil lamp in his hand and the dim starlight, there was no other illumination. Any encounter in such darkness was perilous.

Yet, the person running toward him acted as if they had just spotted their savior.

That person was none other than Al, who had sneaked out of the warehouse while everyone else was asleep.

"Lord Holy Knight, I have something to report!"

Gabriel narrowed his eyes.
