Chapter 171: Awakening, Growth
Chapter 171: Awakening, Growth
The contempt from the Red Dragon ignited the fury of the White Dragon Trixie.
“You stupid redskin with a brain stuffed full of muscles, taste the frost!”
The sixteen-meter-long fierce beast roared, flapping its dragon wings to stir up a cold wind. Its claws shattered the ground as it surged forward like a white frost star suddenly erupting, charging toward the Red Dragon.
Compared to the nearly mature White Dragon,
the Red Dragon Samantha, close to twelve meters in size, appeared much smaller. Although her proportions were sturdy—not as slender as the White Dragon—she was still nowhere near the exaggerated scale of Garoth, so overall she was inferior.
However, the pride of the young Red Dragon surpassed her strength.
She looked down on the White Dragon from her heart, feeling the other was nothing but a beast with empty form, so she showed no fear, did not call for Garoth’s aid, but instead lowered her head, flicked her tail, flapped her wings, and sprinted forward with her body brimming with power, thundering toward the White Dragon for a head-on clash.
Garoth watched quietly and did not intervene as the large and small mother dragons fought.
Under his gaze, the red and white dragon shadows collided wildly.
The ground cracked, shockwaves rippled outward. The white dragon shadow trembled violently, stopping in place, while the red dragon shadow was blasted away like a burst sack, tumbling hundreds of meters along the ground, plowing a long scorched trench before finally coming to a halt.
Pfft!
Spitting out dirt from her mouth,
Red Dragon Samantha staggered to her feet, baring her teeth with a grimace, her face showing a dense, solidified anger. Being knocked away in a direct confrontation by a White Dragon she despised was a tremendous humiliation in her eyes.
Opposite her,
the White Dragon Trixie, who held the advantage, felt refreshed as if doused with ice water on a scorching day.
“Foolish redskin, I am Pale Wing, already halfway to maturity.”
“You should show a weakling’s respect to the strong before me!”
Trixie raised her head and declared.
At the same time, she wanted to press the attack, but a sidelong glance at the silent Red Iron Dragon made her hesitate.
From the Red Dragon and the hybrid dragon, Trixie sensed a similar aura, meaning they were blood-bound evil dragons, perhaps exiled and growing up struggling together. Their relationship was undoubtedly good.
“Despicable white scales! I will break your bones!”
Provoked by the White Dragon, the Red Dragon’s anger surged.
Her bright crimson scales lit up one by one, visible alchemical runes flickering on her body, amplifying her defense and strength. Fine runes on her claws glowed, granting armor piercing and reinforcement properties.
Her dragon wings flapped, the membranes also glowing with runes. Her speed surged violently as she charged at the White Dragon again.
On the other side, the White Dragon glanced at Garoth.
Garoth remained indifferent and gave a slight nod, signaling her not to pay attention to him.
Trixie smiled grimly and turned to meet the Red Dragon head-on.
The two dragons clashed once more, not just with wild ramming, but using their skills.
Ice Armor!
A thick layer of ice crystal armor coated the White Dragon, sharply weakening the power of Garoth’s claw strikes. The Red Dragon’s alchemically forged claws could only cause minor cracks, unable to break the armor, while her claws felt a numb coldness.
“I’ll teach you the etiquette of the dragon race!”
Trixie’s right claw struck down, carrying the chill of a thousand-year glacier.
Samantha barely dodged sideways, only to be hit by the following dragon tail sweep.
Bang! The Red Dragon’s proud scales shattered like glass, the defensive runes collapsing one by one, scales cracking and flying off. She staggered backward.
Pain only fueled the Red Dragon’s rage.
Her eyes bloodshot, she roared and lunged at the White Dragon.
However, fury did not increase Samantha’s power. Instead, it clouded her mind, diminishing her control over the alchemical runes, making her weaker and exposing countless flaws.
The White Dragon Trixie was a great dragon capable of forcing Garoth into his Frenzied State.
Her combat experience far exceeded that of Red Dragon Samantha.
When Samantha raged, Trixie became even more skillful, not rushing to defeat her but humiliating her playfully, like a game.
Garoth watched their fight, still not intervening.
After being exiled and experiencing the dangers of the wilderness, Samantha’s personality had become restrained; reason suppressed her anger. But over time, her pride gradually grew, morphing into the typical Red Dragon arrogance—arrogant and overconfident but without matching strength.
Under Garoth’s watchful eye, this battle was controllable.
For Samantha, being beaten by the White Dragon she despised was actually beneficial.
Garoth had never felt noble or proud because of his bloodline.
He always believed that the strong should not rely on bloodline for respect; rather, the bloodline should be proud to have strong individuals.
Those who indulge in bloodline superiority without real strength will eventually bring disaster upon themselves.
Several minutes later.
The Red Dragon’s fiery breath was forcefully suppressed by the White Dragon’s frost breath.
In danger, the Red Dragon hastily dodged but was still grazed by the icy breath, forming a thick frost on her body and making her sluggish.
Immediately after,
the sixteen-meter adult White Dragon fully spread her wings, her shadow completely enveloping the young Red Dragon.
Trixie dove down and pinned the unprepared Red Dragon beneath her. The Red Dragon struggled but lacked strength; covered in cold frost, her limbs frozen, the White Dragon stepped on her chest.
Until completely defeated,
the freezing Red Dragon finally came to her senses. She turned her head toward Garoth, hoping he would intervene, but Garoth remained indifferent.
“Now, what should you call me?”
The White Dragon’s claw gently grazed Samantha’s faceplate as she spoke.
“White Scales! Despicable—”
Before she could finish, Trixie’s long tail curled around the Red Dragon’s neck and suddenly tightened, causing choking pain.
After a few seconds, the White Dragon loosened her tail and repeated, “What should you call me?”
“White Scales!”
The words barely left her mouth before the tail tightened again, choking her.
Ten seconds later, the tail relaxed once more. The Red Dragon coughed violently as the White Dragon repeated, “What should you call me?”
Samantha was silent.
The White Dragon’s body pressed down like a mountain, making it hard for her to get up and resist. The biting cold almost froze her blood. Before this, she had never imagined the White Dragon could be so strong.
“...White Dragon... Lady Trixie.”
The Red Dragon squeezed the words through her teeth.
Not using honorifics was her last stubborn defiance.
The White Dragon Trixie snorted coldly, her expression relaxing. She released her hold and said, “Young Dragon, show me more respect from now on. You have no right to call me White Scales.”
The Red Dragon’s chest heaved violently; her scales dulled considerably.
Being defeated by the White Scales was a shame and frustration.
At that moment, Garoth walked over slowly, his claws crushing the ice crystals on the ground with faint crisp sounds.
“Samantha.”
The Red Iron Dragon’s voice was low and steady. He said, “Failure is nothing but a scratch on your dragon scales—” His tail tip gently tapped the broken scales on the Red Dragon. “What matters is whether you can forge that scratch into harder scales.”
“You want to demean Trixie as White Scales, call her despicable? Fine, that’s not the problem.”
“But you need to be stronger than her to have that right.”
The fact was right in front of her, and Samantha could hear Garoth’s words. She pondered deeply.
Although she preferred solving problems with power and disliked thinking, the Red Dragon’s intelligence was actually high; every famous strong Red Dragon was both clever and fierce.
After this lesson, Samantha roughly understood Garoth’s meaning.
“Dear brother, I understand.”
She said, then looked at the White Dragon Trixie and spoke frankly, “Trixie, I will now respect you, call you White Dragon, and not insult you—on the premise that you are stronger than me.”
“But your only advantage is age.”
“As time passes, I will surpass you and leave you far behind.”
The White Dragon bared her teeth, unwilling to yield, mocking, “Pathetic little dragon, even so, it won’t change the fact that I once trampled you beneath my feet.”
Unexpectedly, Red Dragon Samantha did not get angry.
“You’re right, I will remember that.”
