Dear Enemy, You're My Mate

Chapter 95 **

Chapter 95 **

Maya

My mother doesn't even look up to greet me when I sit at our kitchen table. Lily is in the living room, laughing while two guys from our school try to flirt with her.

I'm trying to prepare my breakfast in peace, but it's hard to ignore them when they are so loud. My sister is so annoying to listen to, especially when she puts on that baby voice.

"Oh, Jayden, you're so funny! Perhaps you should be my new beta? I mean, you're pretty useful in battle. You're hot too."

Out of the corner of my eye, I see my twin sister flip her dark hair over her shoulder. We might be twins, but she sure got the better genes—curves everywhere and big breasts.

Of course, Lily isn't shy about showcasing her body. She is now wearing a v-line top to show her tanned skin and the gemstone necklace, trying to make love to her breast.

No matter how hard I try to sunbathe, I can't seem to get brown—I swear I'm cursed. I have the complexion of a ghost, while my sister is a beauty and Finn too.

Finn.

My insides hurt when I remember the fairy's gleaming teeth in his grin and his pointy ears sticking out from behind his white hair. I never thought guys could be hot with long hair, but older Finn looks like sex-on-a-stick with muscles and v-lines for days.

And Finn is funny too, always making me smile by teasing me, and he is kind, lovely, absolutely gorgeous inside and out.

Fuck, I miss him.

Jayden, I suppose, laughs and breaks me from my thoughts. "And I'm charming too—what do you say about going out with me, alpha Lily? We would be the best-looking couple in town."

Ugh, shallow people.

I dive my spoon into my bowl of cornflakes, lifting an eyebrow when my mother smiles at me while drying a plate with the tablecloth. And as I face her, the memories of my changed reality kick into motion.

Everything happened as it should, except one major thing—Arvin doesn't exist in this reality.

It seems June died for good by the hands of my father's shadows, and I furrow my eyebrows; there was a friend from another world helping my parents defeat June: another version of my father.

Huh, I wonder if I have an inner wolf?

I take a deep breath, looking within my mind for a trace of my inner wolf, but sadly, it seems everything that happened in the fairy world means that I don't have a wolf in this timeline, either. I'm still the silent girl my parents are worried about but do I have to be?

"Is everything alright, darling?" My mother asks. "You look a little pale—you're not getting sick, are you?"

I open my mouth to speak but get interrupted by my lovely sister.

"What's for breakfast?"

Lily swirls into the kitchen, followed by two giant men on the football team: Jayden and some other jock named Malik. They are wearing jerseys, and I sit in stunned silence while Lily grabs my juice.

Lily winks at me, knowing full-well that I don't possess the physical strength to challenge her. "Thank you for serving me a drink, sis!"

Jayden seems to hold back a smirk—what a fucking bastard. Then again, can anyone blame him for thinking his alpha's shitty behavior is amusing? I'm pretty sure his werewolf brain cells won't let him treat me decently after witnessing his alpha bully me.

And yes, Lily likes to bully me. In the past, she protected me, but upper secondary school is a living nightmare with a sister constantly flaunting her alpha status to the sister without a wolf.

I guess some things are different in this timeline.

"Oh, and it tastes delicious too!"

I watch Lily smugly smile at me from behind the glass, but instead of sitting back and doing nothing, I lift my arse from the table. My head whips around, and then I reach for my glass.

"I'm sorry, but I believe this is mine."

Lily blinks at me when I wink at her, taking back my juice with a confident smile. So what if I'm a human? I won't let myself be pushed around. I'm not scared anymore.

After finishing the juice and giving Lily my empty glass, I walk out from the kitchen while my mother and sister exchange looks.

Before I know it, they both stare at me. The two jocks are giving me their attention too, and I snort a laugh when I notice Jayden is sporting a hard-on—too bad I'm not one bit interested in werewolves.

My heart still belongs to Finn, and I'm not willing to give his spot to anyone else. There are plenty of men, but some people stain your soul with their love until all you see is them.

"I'm heading out!" I shout while slipping on my converse. "And don't expect me to show up for dinner. I think I will eat something downtown, like a burger."

"Oh, okay..." My mother has broken free from her stupor. She is now giving me a half-smile from the doorframe. "Are you alright?"

True, my heart might be shattered into a million pieces, but my head is in the right place. I'm confident, and thanks to my adventures with Finn, I'm not afraid of doing the things I want.

Drawing, baking, and who knows—maybe I could train and become a martial artist at the dojo? The possibilities are endless. I might not be an alpha, but that's okay. Human Maya is a pretty cool person too.

"Better than ever." My lips stretch into a full-fledged smile. Finn isn't here, but I still have to make the best of my life. Today, I will eat vanilla ice cream and think about my future. "Okay, see you guys later!"

I close the door behind me and look up at the cloudless sky. I'm happy to be free from Arvin's prison chamber, but my heart misses Finn.
