Chapter 64 (End of book one) **

Epilogue - The ending of the first book

Patricia

Things have changed after we defeated Riley and June. William has returned to his old pack, whose members are no longer influenced by June's compulsion. He even took the lost vampires under his wings, and now he is leading the Summerburst pack as an ally to the Winterbite pack.

Alice has completed the mating ritual with William and is now a member of the council led by Rebecca. I'm unsure who the other members are, but I trust them to keep our timeline safe—Alice won't let them turn evil.

Finn was released from the crystal orb, and the minute he became a free fairy, a mysterious portal opened. The light proved too bright for my eye to see what was on the other side, but Finn cried and said, "I can finally return to my world!" before he wrapped me up in one last hug.

A smile graces my face as I remember Finn. I miss the fairy, but I understand he is where he is supposed to be, and I have Dior and our two daughters to offer me company. They are Twins.

Loud cries and complaints fill my ears, and I walk across the room to hover above our two precious daughters. Tiffany has a one-year-old son, so we hang out pretty often, discussing the possibility of our children becoming friends.

It seems Tiffany and Rohan come from an old line of monster hunters, but luckily, my friend has accepted the two packs living here. She thinks of us as her friends.

"You're so precious! Let me look at you," I bend down to pick up Lily, who resembles Dior more than me. Her hair is dark, and Dior claims he can sense shadow powers oozing from her pores—she will be a force to be reckoned with in the future. "You're such an angel."

Maya, our other daughter, cries louder, and my heart pangs with guilt for picking up Lily. Truth to be told, I'm not sure if Maya even likes me. I love her to the moon and back, but I can't for the life of me seem to make her stop crying!

"I will hug you soon, darling, but holding you both is too much weight even for a werewolf," I speak in a gentle tone, hoping it will calm down my daughter. I love her so much, and I want her to know that. "Give me a minute with Lily, and then I will sing you a lullaby. I promise."

Maya is kicking her legs in the air, and I let out a breath of relief when Dior rushes into the room to pick up our second daughter. He hushes her in a soothing voice and cradles her in his arms.

I find it so incredibly sexy that Dior is good with our children. Heat floods the area between my legs, but I remind myself that the doctor told me to take it easy after the c-section.

I'm just praying the scar will somewhat fade. Dior calls it beautiful, but in my eyes, I resemble a walking disaster. I'm fat, plump, sweaty all the time, and now I have a nasty scar.

"Shh," Dior is beaming down at our daughter and moving from side to side to soothe her. She seems to enjoy that. "Daddy is here. It's okay. I got you, little one. No one will harm you."

I smile when Maya immediately turns silent. It seems our daughter is playing favorites. She keeps screaming when I pick her up but falls asleep whenever Dior hugs her.

"She likes you a lot," I say and beam at my much taller husband. "Maya is daddy's little girl—I can see her turning into a tomboy and helping you out inside the garage. She will be a pro at building cars before she has turned five years old."

Dior flashes me a smile, but it falters as quickly as it came. "Why do you think Maya was born without a wolf?"

I take a deep breath, feeling Dior's concern like my own. Maya was born different—her hair is whiter than snow, and while her sister is strong and probably our future luna, Maya doesn't even have a wolf. She was born as a human, which I find worrying.

"I don't know, honey," I answer honestly and peer down into Maya's round, content face—she is smiling. The view is precious, and my heart gives a little squeeze. "But regardless of Maya being a human, we will still love her and make her a member of our pack."

"Of course," Dior says. "I'm just afraid she will be bullied by the other pack members and feel like an outsider. You went through hell and back in your youth," Dior's concerned eyes focus on my face. "I don't want that future for our children, Patricia. They shouldn't have to suffer."

"Maya will probably be bullied—I won't lie about that," I say and sigh heavily before curling my lips into a cheerful smile. "But Maye is a strong girl and will get through it, and who knows—perhaps her wolf will one day awaken."

Dior nods at me and hugs his daughter. "I hope so, for her sake. Maya deserves the best."

I squeeze Lily tighter to my chest and smile at my husband. I'm worried about Maya too, but I'm sure the moon goddess has a good reason for making one of our daughters so different from the other.

My lips part. "Only the future will tell what the moon goddess got in store for Maya and Lily. I'm sure their story will be great."

Dior laughs, probably remembering his time meeting the moon goddess herself in the flesh. "She is a character, alright. I'm sure she has her reasons for not giving Maya an inner wolf."

Smiling, I face my husband, and Dior smiles back at me in a way that gives me flutters—it seems the love between us will never fade, no matter how old we get.
