Chapter 113 (THE END) **
Maya
Epilogue
A few years later.
"What is it?"
I tilt my head and smile down at my daughter. It's Christmas, and Finn is busy cooking our grand feast with Kyra and my mother. Elijah is drinking wine with Alice and my father.
The pack is happy, and while I'm not friends with Bianca anymore, it finally feels as if I'm home.
Everything is as it should be.
"You need to open it." I stand up from the couch and sit down on the floor next to Elvira. "Here, let me help you!"
Elvira beams and laughs as I help her open the enormous package. She has Finn's pointed ears, but she can already shape-shift into a wolf—one with gorgeous wings. It seems she has inherited a lot from us both.
"A unicorn!" Her eyes are radiating joy. "I got my own unicorn!"
I laugh. "Yes, you do!"
"I'm so amazed!"
I sit back and smile at Elvira, who is on top of the world and holding up her XXL stuffed toy for the world to see. She is ecstatic and rushes into the kitchen to show everyone.
"Look!" Elvira is jumping up and down. "Look, granny! Santa gave me a unicorn! I love it so much! I'm going to name him Mr. Fluffers, and no one else can ride him but me! He is only mine! And we will get a stable—"
"Yes, honey," my mother rolls her eyes with a playful smile tugging on her old lips. She is turning grey. "You will get all of those things..."
I watch my mother pick up Elvira with warm affection in my chest. They hug and kiss each other, and I struggle to get up from the floor, grateful when Finn rushes in to help me.
Finn is irritated with me—it's in the atmosphere.
"You shouldn't move so much when you're pregnant!"
Finn wraps his powerful arms around me and gently helps me stand up. He is still so protective of me, and he is a real softie with Elvira. I love him so much, and I will never stop.
It would have been a mistake not to complete the mating ritual or reject him when he proposed. Finn has brought light into my life, and he is the only love in my life.
I'm blessed to have him by my side.
"Thank you." I sit down on the couch once more and smile at my handsome husband.
Finn still looks young, below thirty without a wrinkle in sight, while I'm approaching the big forty. I'm still attractive and stunning, and I love seeing Finn get jealous when men wag their eyebrows at me, but at some point, I know people will stop giving me attention.
Instead, people will point and stare and wonder what the hell Finn is doing with someone like me.
Not that I give a shit about it anymore.
It doesn't bother me we aren't aging at the same rate—not anymore. I'm just grateful to be together with Finn. Wrinkles might bother me on bad days, but I know the fairy doesn't care.
Finn loves me and is the most gentle soul I've ever met. He still kisses me every morning in a sweet greeting, and every weekend, he brings me a large tray of pancakes.
He is a catch.
Finn smiles down at me. "Does the gorgeous pregnant lady want anything to drink? Water? Juice?" his smile turns into a grin. "The baby needs to eat and drink, honey—you can't starve yourself."
I haven't eaten as much as I should, but my belly is more significant than ever—I have this notion I might be pregnant with twins. Finn doesn't want to believe it before seeing a doctor, but a mother just knows.
We will have twins.
"No," I tap the place next to me. "I just want you close. Can you come and cuddle with me? I'm lonely and in need of your love."
Finn curls his lips, and then he takes a seat next to mine. We interlock our fingers over my thighs, and warmth spreads under my skin. The mate-bond is still going strong.
Finn leans his head against mine and places a kiss on my neck. It brings a smile to my lips, and he must have noticed because he does it again and again until I'm a giggling mess.
"Stop it!" I laugh at him, feeling giddy. "Not at my parent's house! You promised to behave!"
"I am behaving."
I roll my eyes. "Sure."
"I love you, Maya—more than anything in this world, and I love Elvira and our future kids too—I would do anything for you," Finn whispers and places a hand on my stomach. He strokes me but keeps looking into my eyes with stars in his eyes. "You're such a lovely and beautiful mother."
Damn him!
Tears well up in my eyes, and then I creep closer to him. I don't see myself as lovely or beautiful when I'm fat and pregnant, but I'm happy, so I lean in and kiss Finn as if there was no tomorrow.
When we pull back, I'm sparkling with joy. "I love you too—so much that I can feel it in my bones and soul."
Finn smiles. "If that is true, then you will find me again."
I know what he is talking about and kiss his neck before whispering. "Of course—we have a way of finding each other," against his skin. He shudders, and I add, "you're mine, in this life, and the next."
The End.
