Dear Enemy, You're My Mate

Chapter 105 **

Chapter 105 **

I might die from a heart attack any second now. I'm standing in the shower booth and finding it harder to stand straight as Elijah enters through the door.

When my mate offered to get me cleaned up and took me to a human hotel, I didn't expect him to have hidden motives—I was wrong.

As warm water pours over my head, I stand there, jaw slacking to the floor as I take in the adonis closing the door behind him.

Elijah looks like he just stepped out of every woman's wet dream. He is entirely naked, making it impossible not to drool over his bulging biceps, muscular chest, and flat, washboard abs. I count the ridges and lose all breath of air.

Perhaps I am more into men than I initially thought?

Piercing red eyes that are even more intense now that we are both naked meet mine. Elijah smiles at me, a crooked half-smile that makes my heart seize in my chest and my belly tighten in suspense. He looks keen to eat me alive, and I'm horrified because part of me wants to let him.

"Enjoying the warm water?"

"Uh..." I'm speechless, and he chuckles. "I guess?"

Elijah approaches me.

I stagger back and press my back against the wall, all the pre-planned words about asking him to leave the bathroom trapping themselves in my throat.

He lifts an eyebrow, seemingly amused, as he looks me up and down with his lip curling higher. The man is a materialized daydream. "May I join you?"

"I won't have sex with you!"

Elijah's eyebrows shoot at the ceiling, and I cover my mouth. I'm not sure where the hell my sentence came from—I spoke without thinking. But what I said is the truth. Before sleeping with Elijah, I want to know him and form a bond.

"Is that right?"

I wet my lips, trying hard to focus while Elijah studies me. He is standing inches away, and if I reached out my hand, I could touch his carved body and run my hand down his v-lines.

No!

Get a grip!

"Yes..." I exhale, lifting my chin to make eye contact. "I want to get to know you better. Come to think of it, do you even know that we are mates? I'm not even sure what kind of creature you are, but you don't smell like a human..."

Elijah's expressions soften, and he slips down on the ground, leaning his back against the tiled wall. Water splashes him when he makes himself comfortable on the floor, but he doesn't seem to care and washes his face.

I angle the stream away from his face and find the view of him brushing back his dark hair breathtaking. He smiles at me, and my skin burns when he openly checks me out, seeming to like what he sees.

I sit down and lean my back against the other wall, and cover my breasts with my arms. It does nothing to protect me from the shivers running over my skin as Elijah studies me.

I clear my throat. "So...?"

Elijah smiles. "I know we are mates—you're not my first, and you're right—I'm not a human."

His eyes roam my body, and I blush when he checks out my breast that I'm so desperately trying to hide. There is lust and hunger in his gaze as if he wishes to lick me all over. "So, what kind of creature are you?"

"I'm a vampire. Are you familiar with my kind?"

"Uh, I've heard about your kind." I'm struggling to act calm and not go down in flames. Elijah is so intense. I brush my hair behind my ear. "I'm a fairy."

"I know," Elijah says and strokes my leg. Electricity zaps in the room, courses through my veins. I love the sensation and don't pull away. "I'm friends with your little brother, Finn, which I'm sure you noticed. You spent some time spying on us."

"Oh, that?" A nervous giggle leaves my lips, and I drag my sweaty palms over my thighs. I'm grateful for the water, which washes the stickiness away. "I never intended to run from Finn, but-..." I hesitate but then just let the words pour out through my lips. "Have you ever felt lonely among your people? The fairy realm is where I grew up, and yet, when I found out my mate was in the human world, I didn't hesitate to leave."

Elijah observes in silence, seeming to take in my words. His chest heaves, and a tiny smile takes his lips. "I forgot how deep women can be..."

I laugh. "Excuse me?"

He chuckles and holds up his hands in surrender. "It was a compliment. I loved the mate I had before you, but we never deep-talked. You're much different from him."

I hold my breath, widening my eyes. "You're gay?"

"I'm bi," Elijah winks at me. "Or else my second chance mate wouldn't be a female, wouldn't you agree?"

I smile. "I've only been with girls before meeting you..."

Elijah breathes a laugh. He is so seductive. I love the way his Adam's apple bobbles when he swallows. Seriously, I want to lick him there, kiss every inch of his beautiful body.

Shit, I need to get a grip.

But I've never been with a man, and Elijah's carved superhero physique got my hands tingling. There is growing desperation within me which wants to touch him everywhere and see how it feels to touch actual muscles and cobblestone abs.

"And to answer your earlier question, yes, I never quite felt like I belonged when I lived with the other vampires. Life felt dull until I met my mate, a werewolf named Wesley."

"Wesley..." What happened to his other mate?

As if reading my mind, Elijah gives me a sad smile. "Wesley died."

A throbbing starts in my chest, and I grab Elijah's hand, squeezing it regardless of my jittering nerves. Surprised, he looks up at me, and I smile at him in sympathy.

"I'm sorry for your loss," my voice is soft and sincere. Elijah appears close to tears, and I want to ease his heavy burden, help him carry some of that sadness weighing his heart. "I genuinely am... I can't imagine what it must feel like to lose one's mate because the thought of losing you is already killing me, and I don't even know you yet."

Elijah smiles. "You seem like a nice person."

I nod. "I am."

"But-..."

"No," I interrupt, shocking him. "You kissed me without reason earlier and entered the bathroom naked, and I get it now. Losing your mate killed you, and you're lonely. Sex is how you deal with your inner pain, but now when you're bonding with me, you realize you don't want to hurt me by having meaningless sex."

Elijah stares at me, and I lean forward, meeting his eyes with determination bubbling within me.

"But let me tell you one thing: I'm not stupid, and I don't give up. I'm stubborn as a mule, and although you swayed me with your pretty-boy charm and made me unable to think straight for the first few minutes, I see things how they are now."

Elijah looks both amazed and amused by me. "You see things how they are now, huh? Care to enlighten me?"

"Yes." I clear my throat, ignoring the smiling man. I've suffered enough heart palpitations as it is. "You're my mate, and at this moment, I forbid you from rejecting me."

"And how are you going to stop me?"

Was that a challenge? I glance his way. Despite his stellar looks, Elijah is such an ass. He shows me that annoyingly beautiful smile, and I frown. He is making fun of me.

Frustration makes me release this animalistic grunt before speaking with my annoyingly handsome mate. "I can't believe how infuriating you are! We are mates, and you aren't even going to give me a chance?"

The man laughs, showing me a glimpse of his sharp canine teeth. "I would never reject you, but since I'm curious, I felt the need to ask you how you would stop me if I were."

"You weren't going to-..." My cheeks burn. "Don't play dumb with me! You were going to reject me earlier!"

Elijah laughs louder. "What I was going to say earlier is that you seem like a good person, but I'm not—I'm bad." His lips twist into a smirk, and entertainment flashes over his features. "But please, continue trying to convince me you're worth giving a chance because your desperation is stroking my little ego."

I gasp. Elijah is such an ass! I grab the shower handle, soaking the laughing man to the bone. He tries to shield himself from the water, but I stand on my knees and corner him.

"How do you like that, huh?!" I splash his face, hating how his wet body turns me on. He has such beautiful broad shoulders. "You will think twice about fooling me again, vampire!"

Elijah's eyes twinkle, and suddenly he pulls me down to his lips. I drop the shower handle, and he seizes my arms so I can't resist him. Damn, he is much stronger than me. I fall flat on his hard stomach, feeling his massive cock twitch beneath me.

My legs spread on their own, and the large, beautiful man laughs against my lips before deepening the kiss, securing his victory. He tastes like pure sin, and he looks like the devil himself.

Heat pools between my legs, and Elijah looks massively satisfied when he dips his head back.

"Spread your legs further."

Silently, I peer down at him while trying to keep it together. I'm hornier than ever, wet, and Elijah stares back at me, his lips severe and his red eyes more intense than ever. I experience shudders, and Elijah tilts his head, speaking in a more authoritative voice.

"I wasn't asking."

Elijah's sexy voice leaves me with no choice but to do what he says. Heat and flames scorch my skin. My sex is clenching, and let's face it—no one says no to this man; he is too intense, too gorgeous, too damn hot. And I'm already lost in him.

The lamb walked into the wolf's trap.
