Chapter 427 - 200: Going Back Home for the Holiday!

Seeing Jiang Tao’s determined attitude, Lü Qian didn’t try to persuade him any further.

After chatting idly at home for a bit, the two of them went out.

Lü Qian led Jiang Tao through a few twists and turns in the village and stopped outside a small, low, shabby house.

At the sight of the house, Jiang Tao felt a bit emotional.

Even in his hometown at Jiang Family Manor, there weren’t houses this run-down anymore.

Lü Qian knocked, and the door opened. A chubby woman in her fifties appeared in the doorway.

"Uncle, what brings you here! Please come in, come in!"

"And who’s this handsome fellow?"

Seeing Lü Qian at the door, Sun Xiangxiang greeted him warmly, but glanced at Jiang Tao with some confusion.

Lü Qian didn’t beat around the bush and got straight to the point:

"Xiao Sun, this is a friend of mine, Xiao Jiang—Jiang Tao."

"He’s interested in your house. I brought him over to have a look. You two can talk."

"Mr. Jiang! Please, please come in!"

When Sun Xiangxiang heard Jiang Tao was here to buy, her round face immediately lit up with delight.

"Hello, Sister Sun. Sorry to drop by unannounced—hope I’m not disturbing you."

Jiang Tao smiled and greeted Sun Xiangxiang, then followed Lü Qian inside, glancing around the courtyard as he went.

The yard was small and cluttered with all sorts of things, looking messy and untidy.

There were east and west wings, but both were tiny, with broken doors and windows—the whole place looked like it hadn’t been maintained for years.

Chatting as they walked, the group crossed the yard and entered the main north-facing house.

"Our house is set up as a three-room home."

"On the deed, it’s ten meters wide by fifteen meters deep—so, 150 square meters in all..."

Sun Xiangxiang gave Jiang Tao a brief rundown of the house.

Really, the only good thing about this house is the fact it’s in Beijing.

There’s not a single other advantage.

As Jiang Tao walked around, he was already making plans in his mind.

If he bought this place, he could do some light renovations and turn it into a dormitory for staff from Jiang’s Food Factory.

That way, the property would actually be put to use.

Xiaoshanhe Urban Village isn’t far from Bai Gezhuang Industrial Park—just five bus stops, no transfers needed.

Living here, commuting to work wouldn’t be too much trouble.

Jiang Tao followed Old Lü and Sun Xiangxiang into the house and sat down on the floral-patterned sofa in the living room.

Sun Xiangxiang eagerly poured tea for both of them in disposable paper cups.

After a bit of small talk, Jiang Tao got straight to business and asked about the price.

"Sister Sun, how much are you hoping to sell the house for?"

"Xiao Jiang, since you’re here with Uncle and you’re his friend, and you’ve been so polite, calling me ’Sister’..."

"Then as your sister, I won’t ask for any sky-high price. If you’re really serious, I can let it go for 2.4 million."

"For a house this size, in this location, that’s honestly not high."

After she finished, Sun Xiangxiang glanced at Lü Qian, clearly hoping he would speak up for her.

But Lü Qian just picked up his tea, eyes on his cup, minding his own business, ignoring her look.

On one side is his nephew’s wife; on the other is an old friend of many years.

Lü Qian really couldn’t pick a side.

So, he simply played go-between, letting Jiang Tao and Sun Xiangxiang talk things out themselves.

Whether they struck a deal was their own business.

"2.4 million, huh... That’s a fair bit more than I expected."

Jiang Tao clicked his tongue, regret flickering in his eyes.

The price Sun Xiangxiang quoted was 300,000 above Brother Tongzi’s bottom line.

Clearly, she wasn’t being all that sincere about selling.

Sun Xiangxiang said, "Mr. Jiang, that’s really not expensive—for anyone else, I’d never start below 2.6 million!"

Jiang Tao thought to himself, that’s exactly why you can’t get this house off your hands!

"Sister Sun, you seem straightforward, and I don’t like hemming and hawing either. 2.1 million. If that works, I’ll take it."

"If not, you can wait and see if you get another offer."

Jiang Tao didn’t bother to haggle—he named his bottom line, stood up, and got ready to leave.

This was Brother Tongzi’s guess at Sun Xiangxiang’s mental price—and also Jiang Tao’s floor price.

"2.1 million! No way, that’s way too low!"

Sun Xiangxiang shook her large head like a rattle drum.

Jiang Tao’s offer was 300,000 below hers.

She couldn’t earn that much in five or six years of work!

Sun Xiangxiang gave Lü Qian another look, but seeing his completely unmoved face, she felt quite annoyed inside.

After all, she called him ’Uncle,’ but he wouldn’t even speak on her behalf!

"Well, let’s leave it here for today. I’ll think about your price, Sister Sun, and you think about mine."

Jiang Tao kept a calm expression as he said goodbye, ready to let her stew for a while.

In real estate, the buyer definitely holds more of the initiative—and more options too.

Houses for sale might not be everywhere in Xiaoshanhe Urban Village, but it’s not like Sun Xiangxiang is the only one selling.

"The lowest, lowest I can go is 2.3 million. Xiao Jiang, just think about it."

As they were leaving, Sun Xiangxiang dropped the price another hundred thousand on her own—she really did want to sell the place.

"Alright, Sister Sun, we’ll leave it there for today. I’ll take my leave now. Let’s go, Brother Lü."

Jiang Tao smiled and nodded, glancing at Old Lü, who had just stood up too.

"Yeah."

Old Lü kept it short, sticking to his principle of not taking sides—he hadn’t said a word the whole time.
