Chapter 311 - 251: Surfing Masters_2

"Then I hope your level won’t disappoint me." Wang Ye remarked with a soft smile.

"Don’t worry, even if they don’t catch your eye, there’s still me." Carlos confidently patted his chest, then hugged his surfboard and walked into the sea.

Wang Ye went to the coast, preparing to swim in the sea for some warm-up.

He stepped into the chilly sea water and dove into the ocean like a dolphin,

immediately adopting a freestyle posture, beginning to swim quickly.

Today’s seawater, affected by rainfall, was noticeably more unstable.

Wave after wave surged towards the shore, trying to push Wang Ye back onto the beach.

Though Wang Ye hadn’t specifically trained his Swimming Skill for a long time, the Swimming Skill in his panel had been upgraded to lv4. This was due to occasionally falling into the water while training surfing in Chicago for half a month, forcing him to do some swimming. Over time, his Swimming Skill Level rose to lv4.

If it were an ordinary person with no outstanding swimming technique, swimming in such fast-moving seawater would surely be disoriented by the frequently crashing waves. They might even be sucked into small whirlpools formed by the waves. The power of the whirlpools during rainfall is immense, strong enough to forcefully pull a cruise ship in; if an ordinary person were caught, they would likely gradually sink and never swim back up.

However, Wang Ye’s swimming skills had surpassed the ordinary Professional Level, his bodily strength many times greater than the average person, ensuring he maintained a sufficient frequency of motion.

In theory, as long as the limbs’ paddling frequency is fast enough, he could swim rapidly in any water environment. The principle can be likened to the propellers on motorboats and submarines.

Realizing the waves would affect his swimming speed, Wang Ye dove into the sea, adopting a diving position to move quickly through the water.

The frequency of his limbs paddling water now was at least seven or eight times higher than an ordinary person’s swimming motion frequency.

It was like a fan leaving a trail of shadows, stirs a dense cluster of bubbles in the water.

Under such high-speed paddling, his swimming speed was remarkably fast.

Ordinary sharks and dolphins probably couldn’t swim faster than him now.

His paddling power was incredibly strong, almost creating a whirlpool underwater.

In just the blink of an eye, he darted tens of meters away in the ocean, leaving a trail of bubbles behind.

Since entering the water, his neck had exhibited many nearly invisible gill slits. These gill slits continuously filtered the surrounding seawater, decomposing oxygen to provide Wang Ye with enough stamina. As his swimming speed increased, the amount of seawater filtered through the gill slits increased, providing more and more oxygen, thus forming a virtuous cycle.

Wang Ye planned to occasionally train Swimming while training Surfing for this period. Although he didn’t pay much attention to this skill, it was essential when surfing. If knocked off by a wave during surfing without sufficient swimming skills, it could easily be dangerous.

Additionally, he might challenge swimming across the Pacific Ocean in the future, so improving Swimming Skill Level now could be considered preparing in advance.

Wang Ye maintained a diving posture, swimming a large loop in the surrounding waters; a rough estimate should be over ten kilometers, before returning to shore.

When he got back to shore, more than twenty minutes had passed.

Carlos, waiting on shore, wore a worried expression, fearing Wang Ye had drowned below.

Wang Ye rested for a while before taking out a surfboard from the truck.

Carrying the surfboard to the coast, he placed it on the sea.

By now, several members of the Red Bull Challenge Team were already surfing over ten meters away from the shore.

Waters dozens of meters from the shore often have suitable tube waves for surfing. The tube wave forms when a wave contacts the ocean’s shallow surface, creating a rotating cylindrical wave.

This requires relatively steep seabed terrain, so when tube waves appear, it also implies certain risks of hitting hard objects on the ocean floor.

The team members surfing in the tube waves appeared very tense.

They maintained a standard surfing posture, constantly adjusting to avoid being knocked down by the waves.

However, the wave formations were too unstable, with many swallowed by rushing white waves halfway through.

Wang Ye just gave a cursory glance and confirmed their surfing levels.

Most of their surfing level, when converted to a Skill Level, is lv2-lv3.

Being the captain, Carlos had the strongest surfing skills in the Red Bull Team, roughly assessed at lv4 Peak Level according to the system.

Wang Ye was also at lv4 early level presently,

In terms of pure technical skill level, Carlos might be stronger than Wang Ye.

But Carlos was nearly forty years old now; with age, his physical functions quickly deteriorated, leading to poor physical strength and weak reflexes, making his performance slightly deficient.

Nevertheless, Carlos possessing this skill level already surprised Wang Ye.

Though Carlos’s skills weren’t as good as Jeff, who coached him, he’s just a line away from Peak Level.

Furthermore, knowing Carlos, Wang Ye understood Carlos’s talent wasn’t high, his perception could only be called Middle Level. To hone many skills to nearly the Peak Level in just thirty years, it showed tremendous effort.

After brief contemplation, Wang Ye then took the surfboard onto the sea.

He quickly paddled the sea beneath with his hands, reaching over ten meters from the shore.

Just then, a mound-like wave surges up on the sea.

Judging by the wave height, it should be five to six meters high.

Seizing the moment, Wang Ye suddenly stood up, plunging forward at the wave crest.

Meanwhile, a nearby team member was knocked off by the wave flowers due to slow reaction before standing upright.

The other team members barely caught the wave, maintaining a forearm surfing position, desperately shifting their center of gravity to avoid the water crashing from the rear. These waters may seem soft and harmless, but real surfers know its immense power, with even a mere two- or three-meter crash capable of easily overpowering a muscular man.

Thus, being hit by the pounding surf signifies a surfing failure.

In the "Life of Water" challenge scene in "Extreme Thief." The challenger sprinted in thirty to forty-meter tube waves and was ultimately engulfed by the overwhelming waves, disappearing in the Cortes Sea.

Therefore, surfers must repress their center of gravity with full exertion and enhance their acuity, ready to switch their center and direction at all times, avoiding the avalanche-like water crashing from behind.

While other team members struggled bitterly, Wang Ye danced within the tube waves like a butterfly among flowers, the surfboard under his feet seemed to become his wings, transforming endlessly. Although the surging water from behind seemed to topple him at any moment, he appeared to always rely on skills to avoid accurately, reaching relatively secure positions.

Soon, the surrounding teammates were all wiped out, leaving only Wang Ye and Carlos galloping on the water waves. Carlos, due to lack of endurance, turned pale after performing slightly larger movements, with his heart rate reaching nearly 190 beats per minute.

Although Wang Ye’s skills weren’t perfect, it was evident he was handling it very skillfully. His movements were much more agile than Carlos beside him, coupled with excellent body proportions, making him highly spectacular.

Meanwhile, the rest of the team gradually swam up from the waves, sprawled on their surfboards, watching Wang Ye and Carlos’s surfing performance attentively from not far away.
