Daddy, You Got The Wrong Mommy

Chapter 220: It’s Not Fair to Samantha

Chapter 220: It’s Not Fair to Samantha

"Tom, are you really blind, do you like her that much?"

Vinny Hawke slapped his chopsticks on the table and shouted angrily.

Damon Hawke’s brows furrowed slightly as he looked at Vinny, "Sis, I thought you should have understood my feelings long ago."

Vinny’s chest heaved, "Fine, great, you like her, but what about her? She doesn’t care about you that much. Look at what she served you? It’s all food you don’t like! If she liked you, how could she not know your preferences?"

Hearing this, Elara Don instinctively looked at the food in Damon’s bowl.

She really wasn’t sure about Damon’s taste preferences.

So, the dishes she just served were ones Damon didn’t like?

"Sis, people’s tastes can change. Just because I didn’t like something before doesn’t mean I don’t like it now."

Damon spoke calmly, "The main thing is, as long as she serves it to me, even if it’s poison, I’d eat it."

The man’s tone was plain, but there was a hint of affection in his dark eyes.

Elara’s heart skipped a beat, as if wrapped in countless drops of honey, sweet to the extreme.

This man, his words must have been smeared with honey today!

"Tom, you!"

Vinny was furious, while across from her, Mrs. Grant watched coldly, then spoke up to smooth things over.

"Alright Vinny, young people always go through a phase where they’re infatuated with women. It seems Tom and Miss Thorne are about to have something good happen; it’s a pity my Samantha isn’t that lucky. But it’s okay, I quite like Miss Thorne. Samantha, you should spend more time with Miss Thorne, treat her like a sister."

Her words were appropriate and generous.

Elara silently took a sip of soup, a trace of irony flashed in her lowered eyes.

After all, the old ginger is hotter.

This Mrs. Grant is much more skilled than Evelyn Miles.

Beep, a message arrived on the phone.

Elara glanced at her phone next to her and saw it was a text message from an unknown number.

Curiously, she opened it, and it read: "I’m Victoria Don. If you want to know how your mother died, come to the cafe next to the Hawke Group and find me."

Elara: "!!!"

Was this message from Victoria?

Her phone number was blacklisted by her, so she borrowed someone else’s phone to send me a message?

So, what she wanted to talk to me about this morning was this!

Elara pressed her lips tightly together and hurriedly replied to the message.

"Wait, I’m coming right away."

Wasn’t her mother killed in a car accident back then?

Could there be another story?

Whether true or not, as it concerns her mother, she must go find out the truth.

"Sorry everyone, I’m full, I’ll head back first. Enjoy your meal."

Elara stood up, gathered her belongings, nodded slightly to the others seated, and then quickly left.

Damon watched her back, lost in thought.

She hardly ate anything, what’s with the rush?

"Tom, look at her, we’re all still seated, and she left early! Is this her upbringing?"

Vinny said angrily.

Damon glanced at her, suppressed his displeasure, and picked up her bowl to serve soup.

"Sis, I know you’re dissatisfied with Elly, but my mind is set. Can’t you support me, considering I’m your most beloved brother?"

Damon deliberately softened his voice, his tone rarely tinged with a hint of coquetry.

Vinny was someone who softened rather than hardened.

She met his pleading gaze and said irritably, "You know I care about you the most, so why can’t you listen to your sister’s advice? What’s wrong with Samantha? In what way is she not as good as Elara? Why are you so determined to marry her?"

"Sis, please don’t embarrass Samantha in front of her."

Damon held a spoon to her mouth, "Samantha is so good, but I’m a single dad. Do you want Samantha to become a stepmother right away? That’s too unfair to her, and it would make her a laughing stock among the high society. So, let’s not drag her down. Now, open your mouth."

His words, intentionally using Evelyn’s position to make a point, left Vinny momentarily speechless.

She glared at Damon, then grudgingly opened her mouth at his cajoling smile.

Across from them, Evelyn wanted to say something, but Mrs. Grant squeezed her finger.

She looked at Mrs. Grant, who shook her head.

No one knows a daughter like her mother does; she knew her daughter definitely wanted to say she didn’t mind being a stepmother to two kids, didn’t care about others’ views.

If Damon had feelings for her daughter, then saying that would surely earn her points.

But as things stand, Damon has no such thoughts for her daughter.

The words he just said were merely to deflect.

If her daughter spoke now, it would lower her standing.

Better to maintain a stillness and remain composed.

Evelyn understood Mrs. Grant’s gesture, reluctantly glanced at Damon, then lowered her head to eat.

Mrs. Grant released her grip, her eyes briefly reflecting Elara’s face in her mind.

Today she just wanted to see Elara in person, to see what kind of woman she really was.

To know one’s enemy is to be poised for a hundred victories.

This quiet mannered Elara was quite reminiscent of that woman.

Both masters of covert manipulation!

But no matter how skilled she is, she won’t be a match for me.

Once she managed to discreetly deal with that woman, now, for her daughter’s sake, she can also resolve Elara!

...

Cafe.

Elara found Victoria sitting in a corner.

Victoria removed her sunglasses, revealing a face that seemed utterly exhausted.

Her clothes looked a bit dirty, appearing very down-and-out.

"Elara, you’re here."

Elara sat across from her, directly asking, "Tell me, how did my mother really die?"

Upon hearing this, Victoria unhurriedly took a sip of coffee.

"Elara, if you want to know how your mother really died, you have to make a deal with me."

"What kind of deal?"

Controlling her inner agitation, Elara asked.

"I want you to make Damon Hawke lift the ban on me."

So it was that!

Elara looked steadily at her, "Victoria, this is the consequence you deserve. Back then, you stole my son; technically, I should have had you imprisoned. Now you’re still living freely out in the open, you should be grateful!"

Hearing this, Victoria became agitated.

"Elara, do you think I’m doing well now? I’m burdened with enormous debt, living worse than a beggar! Damon deliberately didn’t call the police to arrest me but used this method to humiliate me, making me live a fate worse than death! Do I have to be grateful to you for this?"

Now debt collectors were blocking the entrance of the Don Family every day.

She and Troy had no choice but to hide and run.

For a moment, she’d rather sit in a jail cell.

At least there, she’d have a place to stay.

But she couldn’t just give up on herself like that.

She had to make Elara help her!

"I’ll help you, but how do I know what you’re saying is true or false?"

Elara didn’t want to hear Victoria whining; she just wanted to know how her mother died!
