Chapter 171: Switching Dance Partners
Chapter 171: Switching Dance Partners
Elara Don, of course, can dance.
In fact, she dances quite well.
Once she entered the dance floor, she wasn’t hesitant anymore.
She moved her feet lightly to the music, keeping with the rhythm, and matched perfectly with Cole Hawke.
Cole had prepared himself to have his feet stepped on, but unexpectedly, Elara Don’s dance steps were so skillful.
Suddenly, a light flashed in his eyes.
He thought he was dealing with a novice, but she turned out to be an expert.
This woman always manages to surprise him.
Cole’s mood improved, and he began to dance earnestly, spinning gracefully with Elara Don.
Not far away, Damon Hawke danced with Evelyn Miles, but his mind was elsewhere.
His gaze unintentionally swept over and landed on Cole and Elara, and his dark eyes narrowed dangerously.
Elara Don, actually dancing gracefully with another man!
How displeasing!
Evelyn was still indulged in the sweetness of the moment.
Only the force on her waist intensified, almost as if to crush her.
Evelyn furrowed her brows, looked up at Damon, and saw his tense jaw.
Was he angry?
Following his gaze to somewhere not far away, she understood instantly.
So, he was jealous?
Did he like Elara Don that much?
Jealousy flashed in Evelyn’s eyes, but her face remained impassive.
"Tom, do you remember, we once participated in a dance competition at school together. We even won first prize in the Sea City division."
She wanted to evoke his memories.
She didn’t believe that he could completely forget their past.
Damon heard this and merely responded with a hum, yet his eyes still darted towards Cole and Elara.
His dark eyes flickered slightly, and he tightened his grip on Evelyn’s waist, making her spin along with him.
Evelyn thought that Damon recalled the competition from back then, and a hint of pride appeared in her eyes, making her more enthusiastic, spinning vigorously under his lead.
Damon gradually moved to Cole and Elara’s side.
With a strong push, he sent Evelyn away.
Then he swiftly swung his long arm, quickly pulling Elara into his embrace.
Evelyn and Elara passed by each other with a gasp.
Cole instinctively caught Evelyn...
At this moment, it became that Damon and Elara were one pair, while Cole and Evelyn were another.
The music continued playing.
Damon’s eyes flashed with a victorious smile as he held Elara and steered her away from Cole.
Elara was bewildered by this sudden turn of events.
When she realized what was happening, she found it amusing.
"Mr. Hawke, aren’t you afraid of hurting your first love’s feelings by doing this?"
Switching dance partners?
What’s the point of this?
Was he trying to please everyone?
"Elly, others’ feelings don’t concern me. I only care about yours."
Damon held Elara, feeling her slender waist, his eyes soft.
The man’s voice was as magnetic as ever, the gentle pitch even more stirring.
Elara suppressed her inner turmoil, steeling her heart, and fiercely stepped on Damon’s foot.
"Mr. Hawke, you are really boring."
She didn’t need his concern.
It would be best if this man stayed far away from her!
The music came to an abrupt stop, and Damon felt the pain on his instep, his brows furrowing.
This woman, as ruthless as always.
Yet, seeing her so angry meant she was definitely jealous.
Just thinking of that made him happy.
Elara just felt suffocated, glancing around, wanting to leave with Leia Quinn.
Only, she didn’t see Leia on the dance floor, so she thought for a moment and quickly stepped out of the suite.
The air outside wasn’t much fresher than inside.
Elara took a deep breath, and leisurely walked towards the pool in front of the club.
"Wayne, don’t ignore me. You know it, the person I love is still you."
"Sister-in-law, you’ve had too much to drink, please let go."
"I won’t let go, Wayne, I miss you so much, every night I dream of you."
"..."
Vaguely, voices of a man and a woman speaking were heard from the bushes by the poolside.
Elara walked more quietly, her eyes sparkling.
Was this Craig Landers and Selena Taylor?
This Selena, married and still pouring her heart out to her brother-in-law.
How shameless.
"Sister-in-law, it’s all in the past between us, let’s go, I’ll take you back."
"Don’t call me sister-in-law, Wayne, I don’t want to go back, I don’t want to return to that cage, I want to go drinking!"
"Selena!"
"..."
The sound of footsteps approached, and Elara hurriedly hid by the side of a deck chair, watching Craig Landers chase after Selena.
This Selena, really similar to Evelyn Miles, a classic manipulator.
Could Craig stop looking after this manipulator!
Elara pursed her lips, shaking her head.
Her gaze settled on the swimming pool.
At night, the stars gently sprinkled on the water surface, along with the illumination of the lights, creating a shimmering wave pattern on the water.
Reflecting her slender silhouette.
Without needing a closer look, one could feel her solitude.
Elara sighed softly, squatting down, her slender fingers dipping into the water, gently stirring it.
Behind her, there came a slight sound of footsteps, followed closely by a woman’s voice.
"Why is Miss Thorne out here? Feeling bored?"
It was Evelyn Miles’ voice.
Elara slowly stood up, shaking off the water beads from her hand.
"Indeed, quite boring."
The tone had changed, and the look in her eyes had also changed.
No one around now, she didn’t plan to pretend?
Fine.
"Elara Don, as you can see, Tom and I have known each other since childhood, such a bond isn’t something just anyone can interfere with."
Evelyn lifted her chin high, a face full of arrogance.
Elara glanced at her and said, "Miss Grant, you don’t need to explain to me how things are between you and him, I don’t have the leisure to gossip."
The woman’s expression was indifferent, carrying a hint of disdain.
What right did she, a mere commoner, have to show disdain!
Evelyn recalled that last moment on the dance floor when Damon actually pushed her to someone else.
Recalling how others at the party superficially flattered her, but couldn’t hide the gossip and amusement in their eyes, filled her heart with resentment.
She was a high-and-mighty dancer, could she really not compare to a perfumer?
Evelyn suppressed the jealousy in her eyes, "Elara Don, your work as a perfumer in Damon’s company is all because of money. You just saw, my family background is superior, the high officials I know are beyond your imagination. How about this, I’ll introduce you to a new job, I guarantee the salary and benefits will far exceed what you earn at Hawke Corporation. Just take your son and leave Sea City."
As long as Elara Don wasn’t in Damon’s sight, surely he would soon refocus his attention back on her!
Elara looked steadily at Evelyn, the corner of her mouth curling into a mocking smile.
"Miss Grant is in such a hurry to make me leave Sea City because you’re afraid that Damon still holds a bit of old affection towards you, and there’s no intention of rekindling it? So you lack confidence?"
One after another, telling her to leave Sea City.
Sea City is her hometown, what if she doesn’t want to leave!
"You!"
Evelyn’s embarrassment flashed across her face as her secret was revealed.
