Chapter 152 - 151: Li Cheng is Found

Chapter 152 - 151: Li Cheng is Found

Li Jain’s finger tightens on the edge of the table. So, it was really a misunderstanding.

Li Jain asked: "How is he?"

"He? He wasn’t panicking at all. It was as if he expected something like that to happen. Which was really impressive." The elder on the right gave a helpless laugh.

Li Cheng’s behavior left a deep impression on him. When most people found themselves in a situation like that, they would either be frightened or on guard, but that kid did the opposite.

"He even fought with some of our students in our present when he was challenged. That kid is really fearless." The elder on the left added dryly.

"He is at the seven level of Physical Body, correct?" The headmaster asked, and after Li Jain nodded, he continued: "At the age of ten, that’s truly remarkable. Several elders took interest immediately and wanted to accept him as their disciple, but he refused. He said his father would soon come to get him, so he won’t be staying long."

Li Cheng wasn’t too surprised, that sounded just like his Cheng’er.

"Where is he, now?" Li Jain asked.

"He’s not here. The array formation is privately owned by the Zhao family. Therefore, the second elder Zhao took to Red Flame Academy. The boy refused to remain here, and since he was clearly not one of our students, we could not force him to stay under our roof."

When the Zhao family was mentioned, Li Jain immediately thought about that Zhao Yun kid, that the twin had been talking about.

"Thank you," Li Jain said and was about to leave when he was stopped by the headmaster.

"You can go now, if you insist. But Red Flame Academy is not close by. Even if you travel directly, it will take several hours. And this city is not peaceful at night. You should spend the night here and leave at dawn."

Li Jain hesitated, glancing back at the headmaster: "You really think it would be wise to stay?"

The headmaster’s expression did not change: "Don’t overthink it. It’s just that you’re not familiar with districts so I cannot in good conscience let you go. Spend the night here and by dawn, someone would escort you to Red Flame Academy."

Li Jain nodded reluctantly: "Very well, thanks for having me."

Things have progressed much faster than he thought. The people didn’t make things difficult for him, so checking out the other two schools wouldn’t be necessary. At most, he may have to spend a day or two here. And with Liu Xiong looking after the children back at home, there shouldn’t be any problem.

"It’s no trouble." The headmaster said and poured a cup of tea and pushed it across the table: "Then while there is time, tell us about your country."

The four chatted while they drank tea in the cold night. Just then, a series of urgent knocks sounded outside the courtyard door.

Knock, knock, knock.

Before the elders inside could say come in, the door was already pushed open. Three boys around fifteen or sixteen came. One of them looked very excited while the others had helpless looks, following him.

"Master! Master! I’ve finally done it!" The boy shouted excitedly while rushing forward, he stopped abruptly, making the other two nearly crash behind him.

His face changed at once, followed by an awkward silence.

"Oh? There’s a guest?" He bowed immediately: "This disciple was rude, please forgive me, senior."

Li Jain looked at him calmly.

He was a handsome young man with thick brows, and bright eyes. His hair was tied high, and he held a sword in his hand. Even though he said he was sorry for disturbing them, he still couldn’t hide his excitement.

The thin faced elder on the left waved his sleeves: "It’s fine, you came this far to show off, so get on with it."

"Yes, master." The boy’s eyes brighten at once.

"Your disciple is rather enthusiastic." Li Jain said with a smile.

"He’s more impatient than enthusiastic." The thin-faced elder sneered

The boy grinned and said without shame: "If I waited till tomorrow, I wouldn’t be able to sleep tonight."

The headmaster shook his head, but there was no anger on his face.

The boy took a step back in the center, then took a deep breath and raised his sword. His steps were light, and the sword forms were all clean lines. The set of moves were very difficult. The changes between the attack and defenses were very quick and precision was key.

When he finished, he held his sword horizontally across him as he breathed in and out.

"Well done, you have finally grasped the full form. Your transitions are smoother than before." His master praised him.

The headmaster and other elders also agree. This kid Shen Kairan is talented and hardworking. Although he likes to show off, it was still tolerable.

"Thank you, Master! I’ve practiced endlessly, and it’s finally paying off!" Shen Kairan said excitedly.

This technique is very difficult. After his master taught it, many of the students gave up because of the level of difficulty. He was also overwhelmed, but seeing everyone quit gave him a new sense of motivation to keep going.

"What does fellow Daoist Li think?" The thin faced elder suddenly turned to Li Jain and asked.

It’s not that he wanted to put Li Jain on the spot, but from Li Jain’s hesitant expression, he could tell that he had something to say.

Li Jain: "It seems you have a solid foundation. If I’m not mistaken, this sword technique should be level three. Mastering it at your level is truly remarkable. But your moves are lacking in sharpness and power. Sword moves that lack power to deal actual damage, what’s the use of those?"

Although the guest words sounded harsh, Shen Kairan knew he was right. This matter has been bothering him; he even wanted to bring it to his master’s attention later.

"Lacking? How could that be?" The thin face narrowed his eyes: "This set is complete as it is. There should be no fault in it."

He had also practiced this set of techniques. Because it was so good, that’s the main reason he passed it on.

Li Jain didn’t argue. If there’s nothing wrong with the technique, then it should be that it’s not suitable for the boy.

"Come here."

Shen Kairan instinctively looked at his master who nodded in approval before he went forward.

Li Jain pressed two fingers on the boy’s wrist lightly. Soon, Kairan felt warm energy spreading throughout his body.

"So that’s what it is..."

"What is it?" The headmaster asked

"His meridians are not best suited for the sword. Even if he mastered a powerful sword technique, he would only be able to display half of its power." Li Jain explains.

"He has always practiced the sword, even before he enrolled into this school." The thin faced elder was puzzled, they had tried him with different weapons before, but Kairan was only comfortable with the sword.

Li Jain took a grade two spear and handed it over to Kairan: "Try performing the same moves with the spear."

Kairan has never used a spear before, but he still tries his best. He performs the exact same moves, even though some were clumsy because he wasn’t very familiar with the spear, but everyone saw the difference immediately. The result was on a totally different level.

"Remarkable, truly remarkable. Thanks, fellow Daoist Li for your insight." The thin faced elder stood up and bowed to Li Jain.

"Master! Did you see that? Did you see that? Even I am shocked by my awesomeness." Shen Kairan laughed out loud, breaking the silence.

"None of us are blind." His master snorted.

Shen Kairan looked at the spear lovingly, then without thinking, he tossed his sword aside carelessly and ran out with the spear.

"My poor sword..." It was unknown when the forging elder came in, but he picks up handy work with tears in his eyes.

Those present weren’t too surprised. Whenever someone treated his weapons recklessly, this guy would suddenly appear.
