Chapter 276: The Assembly Begins
Gu Fan paused thoughtfully as he watched Xia leave, then waved his hand to close the door.
Just what kind of knowledge had Xia obtained from Ruo Xi’s Sea of Consciousness that could satisfy him to such an extent?
Gu Fan didn’t believe that the ordinary life in the Ruo Family and Qiao Family would be of any interest to Xia.
“What exactly was it…”
Gu Fan thought for a long time but couldn’t figure it out. Ruo Xi had no reason to lie to him. Or perhaps Ruo Xi had been hiding a certain secret all along?
In the end, unable to make sense of it, Gu Fan chose to let it go. After all, based on information circulating within the cultivators’ circle, the people of the Divine Soul Sect might be bizarre and somewhat twisted, but they disdained deception.
If he said he wouldn’t harm Ruo Xi, then he wouldn’t.
Gu Fan had no intention of seeking trouble for himself either. As long as Ruo Xi could be cured, that was all that mattered.
Then he could focus on trying to leave this world and return to Destiny Continent.
The night passed uneventfully.
At dawn, the Grand Elder was already waiting at the door for everyone to assemble.
Once all had gathered, he scanned the group and said:
“Today marks the first day of the Eastern Region Assembly. I will take you inside. After that, no one is allowed to wander off. Follow the rules of the Xuan Feather Immortal Sect on-site. Do not bring trouble to our sect.”
“Yes!”
The Grand Elder then added once more:
“However, we mustn’t fear trouble either. If anyone provokes you, as long as you have reason on your side, strike hard!”
“As always, our Immortal Ai Sect doesn’t go looking for trouble, but no one should think we are easy to bully!”
“Yes!”
After everyone responded in unison, the Grand Elder turned and said:
“Let’s go!”
Thus, Gu Fan followed behind the others. Among the seven people participating in the Eastern Region Assembly, he was probably the only one attending for the first time.
The other six had attended at least once before.
Especially the Eldest Senior Brother, who was reportedly on his third time already and thus fairly familiar with the event's procedures.
In this way, under the Grand Elder’s guidance, after turning a few corners, the group entered an enormous space.
“The venue of the Eastern Region Assembly lies within a mysterious space. This space was specifically opened up by a great expert of the Xuan Feather Immortal Sect. It can accommodate full-force battles by cultivators below the Unity Realm, making it ideal for disciples of various sects to compete.”
Upon hearing the Grand Elder’s words, Gu Fan immediately asked out of curiosity:
“Why only those below the Unity Realm?”
The Grand Elder casually explained:
“This space was created casually by that expert. It isn’t as stable as the main world outside. If the impact becomes too intense, it could destabilize the space, leading to the emergence of various spatial rifts.”
“These rifts are extremely unstable. If one were to fall into them by accident, without a coordinate to guide them, even a cultivator at the Five Decays Realm could end up trapped inside and die there.”
Gu Fan nodded to show he understood.
Seeing that Gu Fan had no further questions, the Grand Elder continued forward.
Just then, a voice rang out.
“Isn’t this a fellow Daoist from Immortal Ai Sect? What a coincidence to meet here.”
The Grand Elder paused mid-step, and everyone turned toward the source of the voice.
They saw a group of disciples clad in light blue sect robes led by an elder.
However, no one was unfamiliar with this group. Gu Fan immediately recognized them—it was the same group from Severing Immortal Palace with whom a conflict had occurred recently at the Lakeside Pavilion.
At this moment, Gu Fan could feel a sharp and venomous gaze fixed upon him. He glanced lightly and saw that it was indeed Hu Xiaofeng, the second-ranking disciple of Severing Immortal Palace.
Yet Gu Fan paid him no mind. He was nothing more than a defeated opponent. If not for his thick-skinned younger brother stepping in to save him, the grass on his grave would have already grown tall.
Hu Xiaofeng flushed red with anger as he felt the disdain and mockery in Gu Fan’s indifferent gaze. He wanted to lash out but didn’t dare act recklessly in front of the elders.
At this moment, the Grand Elder also responded with a faint smile:
“So it’s a fellow Daoist from Severing Immortal Palace. A pleasure to meet you.”
“You’re too kind, Daoist Brother. I’ve heard from the disciples that some time ago, one of mine spoke improperly and had a bit of a conflict with several of your sect’s prodigies, even ending up in a fight. I truly apologize for that.”
As he spoke, the elder from Severing Immortal Palace turned to glare at Hu Xiaofeng before continuing:
“If your disciples were injured, I ask you to be understanding, Daoist Brother.”
The Grand Elder narrowed his eyes, then immediately smiled and said:
“Oh? There was even a fight?”
“Pardon me, Daoist Friend, I honestly didn’t know about this. These little rascals under me only said they went out to have some fun and stretch their limbs. I actually believed them.”
After saying this, the elder opposite froze a little awkwardly.
The Grand Elder’s words subtly made his own disciples appear even more carefree, as if the battle hadn’t been taken seriously at all—merely stretching their limbs.
That was practically a slap in the face!
Taking the opportunity, the Grand Elder continued:
“But it’s all trivial. Daoist Friend, you didn’t need to mention it. After all, it was just a sparring match between juniors. We elders shouldn’t meddle. Look at me—I didn’t worry about it at all.”
This statement was even more direct in mocking the elder from Severing Immortal Palace for lacking composure—still fussing over something between juniors.
While he himself hadn’t even taken it seriously.
The elder from Severing Immortal Palace coldly snorted and replied:
“What Daoist Brother says is true. Let the juniors handle it themselves. The Eastern Region Assembly has just begun. I only hope the prodigies from Immortal Ai Sect will offer their guidance.”
With that, he left with his disciples, his expression gloomy.
Seeing this, the Grand Elder immediately sneered:
“Heh, what a joke. Even a pseudo-Five Decays Realm dares to clash with me!”
Then he turned to Gu Fan and the others and continued:
“Remember what I said earlier. Anyone who provokes us—strike hard and show no mercy!”
“Just like that bunch. Beat them to a pulp if you see them!”
“Yes, Elder!”
After this brief interlude, the journey continued smoothly.
Following the Grand Elder, they searched around for a while and finally located their sect’s designated area.
“This is where our Immortal Ai Sect is stationed. Once the opening ceremony nonsense is over, it will be time for the disciple duels. Although the rewards involved this time are quite tempting, don’t forget about the task requirements. In my view, it might not be entirely a good thing.”
“So don’t put too much pressure on yourselves. Fight for rewards if you can, but just do your best.”
As he spoke, the Grand Elder glanced at each of them, then smiled and said:
“One last thing—safety is the top priority. The sect doesn’t want anyone to suffer any losses in this assembly. You all are the greatest treasure of the sect!”
The seven of them exchanged glances, then responded in unison:
“Rest assured, Elder!”
The Grand Elder nodded and soon left the area.
The seven waited at the location for a short while.
Finally, amidst the sound of celestial music, one resplendent palace after another appeared in the sky.
Then, several figures descended from the palaces. Their feet were bathed in Divine Brilliance as they slowly arrived at the center.
“Fellow Daoists of the Eastern Region, the Eastern Region Assembly now officially begins!”
