Chapter 550: Can Big Brother Do Me a Favor?
Chapter 550: Can Big Brother Do Me a Favor?
The next moment, Lynn slammed the accelerator, grabbed Alice, and howled as he tore toward the Cursed City.
“What, you think it can read any words?!”
What a joke. A tongue that did nothing but sleep and eat all day, even its speech was a hissing sound—asking it to read was clearly setting it up to fail!
It’s a tongue. It has no brain!
It’s obviously a total illiterate!
Even if it could recognize characters, it’d probably be the type to get lost as soon as it left the house. A tongue that had been rotting away in the cellar for decades—if it could tell north from south that would already be a miracle!
“No! I have to find that thing right away. The city’s so dangerous now, who knows if it’s already been captured, subjected to unimaginable humiliation and abuse!”
Lynn, frantic, drifted out of the camp at high speed.
In his mind he pictured his Little Treasure bound in iron chains into weird postures, someone forcing it to use its flexible body for vile purposes, making it crawl into disgusting places!
No, that can’t happen!Absolutely not!
But only dozens of meters after he’d floored it, the space beside him twisted like a kaleidoscope, and the next second he was transmitted back to Sir Aiwen’s side.
“Calm down.”
Sir Aiwen forced a smile and patted his shoulder, blocking his path.
“In your current state, going to the Cursed City won’t help. Here’s what we’ll do: go back and rest properly. I’ll send people to check that camp. If it’s not there, give me the address where it was before and I’ll help you look. That way you won’t go stirring up trouble again.”
“But—” Lynn began, urgent.
Sir Aiwen soothed him, “It should be fine. The two major cults are confronting each other, but the war hasn’t reached full-scale yet. If it’s strong, it should have the ability to protect itself.”
Lynn calmed down.
Right, Big Tongue is part of the Colossus, and the Colossus’s Brain is in the city. If it were in mortal danger, the hyper-dimensional network between him and the Colossus’s Brain would probably have been triggered.
So far, no feedback had come through.
Little Treasure should be safe for the moment.
He instantly turned his head, eyes watering, and said, “Aiwen big brother, would you really help your dear brother go to the Cursed City?”
Seeing his suddenly teary face, even Sir Aiwen awkwardly wiped his forehead and said, “Didn’t I already say I’d handle it?”
Lynn adjusted his monocle and said seriously, “Then could I trouble you for one more favor?”
“??”
“Do you remember those curse books I used against the God of All Machines? Seven volumes in total. Could you help me retrieve them as well? I borrowed them, so they’re very important to me. If I don’t get them back, I might be in trouble.”
“I can—”
“Then could I ask one more thing of you?”
“You say—”
“My priceless Night Doctor set got left on the battlefield. Because it’s indestructible it shouldn’t have been destroyed by the explosion. Could you help your brother look for it too? I’d be very grateful!”
“I’ll try—”
“Then could I ask yet another favor?”
“(takes a deep breath) Go on—”
“My rare Night Doctor outfit was blown to pieces and looks like a diaper now. It’s really embarrassing, so after you open the portal, could you report to the Matriarch and have her reimburse me for another set? If possible, reimburse an extra set for change of clothes too!”
“(clenches fist) I’ll try—”
“Then could I ask yet another—again—favor?”
“(clenches fist) (grits teeth) Speak—”
“Great! After the portal opens, could you get a kiss from the Matriarch on my behalf? The effect on mine just ended, so could you renew it for me? It won’t be a hassle—have the Matriarch stamp it on this paper! I can stick it on right away!”
Lynn solemnly handed Sir Aiwen the clean sheet of paper.
Sir Aiwen’s eyes trembled.
“I’ll try—”
“Excellent, then could I—”
Snap.
With a finger snap and space twisting like a kaleidoscope, the wheelchair-bound Lynn vanished from the spot and was locked back in his bedroom.
Sir Aiwen inhaled deeply, rubbed his ears, and felt the world fall quiet.
This was a pain in the ass!
A constant one!
He was starting to doubt whether taking such a brother was the right decision. He had a feeling life wouldn’t be easy going forward!
...
Time flew by.
Back in his bedroom, Lynn had no other worries. He soon removed the suppression on the Loss of Fighting Spirit curse and fell into a deep sleep.
Since he was in the Night Doctor camp, there was little need to worry about his safety.
He didn’t know how long passed.
While he slept, the System alerts chimed in his ear.
[ Ding! Your “Loss of Fighting Spirit” curse duration has ended. ]
[ Ding! Your “Drowsy” curse duration has ended. ]
Along with the curse-expiry notifications, another completed-mission sound rang in his ear.
[ Ding! You have completed the emergency mission: Survive. Mission description: Do your utmost to preserve your life amid the clash between the God of All Machines and the Desire Mother Tree. ]
[ You received mission rewards: Base EXP 20,000, Black Skull Coins x10, Skill Enhancement Scroll x1 ]
[ Ding! Your level has increased to 37! ]
[ Ding! Your level has increased to 38! ]
[ All attribute points have been allocated to Constitution. ]
With the System’s string of prompts, Lynn slowly woke and immediately felt the warmth and fullness of points poured into Constitution.
“So the task only counts as complete once the curse fully expires?”
Lynn rubbed his sleepy eyes and regained his energy.
This mission had been triggered before his confrontation with the God of All Machines. He’d thought the System had already awarded him, but it turned out he simply hadn’t met the completion conditions until now.
Besides the modest Constitution points,
he also received a new Enhancement Scroll, bringing his total to two.
He had spent all prior Enhancement Scrolls improving Curse Purge, but after this battle he realized he needed to focus on combat and survival upgrades.
Lynn swung his legs out of bed and checked the time.
No doubt,
while he rested, Big Brother Aiwen must have opened the portal and mobilized Nightfall City’s elite.
A tough fight would inevitably follow.
[ Ding! You are attempting to enhance your skill “Flesh Calamity”. Would you like to proceed immediately? ]
“Yes!”
A faint light, and the scroll in his hand transformed into a beam that surged into his body.
Crackle—
As the skill enhanced, he was astonished to see his body writhe and twist like flowing water, even his bones cracking loudly.
After several minutes of this, it slowly subsided.
He understood.
Because Flesh Calamity acts on the body, enhancing it would raise his control over his own flesh.
[ Ding! Your skill “Flesh Calamity” enhancement level has reached +1. Your body’s load capacity and control have increased! ]
Lynn immediately opened the Flesh Calamity skill description.
[ Function: Flesh Calamity +1 ]
[ Quality: Special ]
[ Description: A power gained through intense flesh recombination and violent mutation, allowing the host to freely control their flesh and blood for secondary reformation and growth. After undergoing an initial phase of enhancement, the host gains superior control over bodily calamity and can rapidly recover damage through the consumption and assimilation of flesh. ]
