Chapter 308: Brother, Is That Really You? You’re Back?
Chapter 308: Brother, Is That Really You? You’re Back?
On top of a high-rise residential building.
A bespectacled father was holding his little daughter, sitting in front of the balcony, holding a storybook in his hand, telling those fantastical tales to his young daughter.
"Daddy! Do superheroes really exist in this world?!" the little girl asked her father curiously, a pacifier in her mouth.
Her father shook his head with a bitter smile and said, "These are just things from stories and movies, they don't exist in real life. Finish listening to the story and go to bed early, okay? You have homework to do tomorrow."
The little girl pouted around her pacifier, looking dejected. "Really? None at all? So all the things in stories are fake?"
Her father patted her head, unable to bear seeing his little daughter so disappointed, and chuckled, "Well, not necessarily. Maybe we just haven't seen them. But if you study hard and behave, who knows, you might just look up and see a superhero."
The little girl's eyes instantly lit up.
"Really? Can I marry a superhero then?"
Her father awkwardly replied, "Maybe... if you really do see one..."
The little girl immediately looked up hopefully, gazing out the window into the night sky.And at that very moment.
A young man in a top hat and a black leather jacket landed instantly on the edge of the balcony outside their window. His pitch-black eyes reflected the little girl's face in the room.
The little girl's mouth fell open in shock, her pacifier dropping to the floor.
Lynn was taken aback, then tipped his hat brim toward the little girl with a flick, revealing a handsome profile, winked at her, and in the next instant, leaped away again.
The little girl stood there, mouth agape.
Watching that handsome figure leave, she immediately stretched out her chubby little hand, pointing toward the balcony in astonishment.
"Daddy! Daddy!! There really is a superhero!! A superhero just landed on our balcony!!"
Her father looked utterly bewildered.
"Sweetie, you must be seeing things?"
"There really was! It really was a superhero! I'm not lying!"
But the little girl had already dashed over, pressing herself curiously and excitedly against the glass wall, her eyes sparkling as she gazed into the distant night sky.
"He's gone! He's gone!! But he was so cool!"
She quickly turned around, her eyes shining with hope and joy, clasping her little hands together happily.
"Daddy! I really saw a superhero! The superhero will come to marry me, right?! Daddy!"
Her father (꒪Д꒪) was momentarily at a loss for how to respond.
He looked out the window at the night sky. It was pitch black, nothing there. Knowing his daughter must have imagined it, he coughed and said, "Probably..."
...
Ten minutes later.
In front of a small, detached villa close to the city center, Lynn's figure landed nimbly and lightly downstairs.
Looking at this European-style villa with its own courtyard and garden.
Lynn asked doubtfully, "This is your home? Your family is this rich? A villa in the city center?!"
Bai Yi blushed, scratching the back of his head sheepishly.
"No... my dad has a small business, we're not really that rich..."
Lynn persisted, "Do your parents live here now too?"
Bai Yi coughed, embarrassed. "Uh... this is a school district house... I live here alone, with a few servants..."
"You call this a school district house?!"
Lynn's eyes widened, his voice rising two octaves.
Feelings of class resentment surged up instantly!
Damn!
So this guy, acting all frail and delicate, turns out to be a freaking rich second-generation!
Bai Yi quickly shook his head, glanced around warily, raised his hands in a panic, and whispered urgently,
"Big Brother! Lower your voice, don't let anyone find out. Most people in this neighborhood probably already know I'm under investigation. If someone sees us, it'll draw unnecessary attention."
As he spoke.
Bai Yi cautiously walked to the front door, fished out a key from a crack under the doormat, then grinned and wiggled his eyebrows, quietly unlocking the door with a click.
He led Lynn silently into the living room.
Then made a shushing gesture to Lynn, quickly and stealthily heading to his room and opening the door.
"Big Brother, come in quick! This is my room! Don't let the housekeeper see!"
He whispered.
Turned on the light.
Lynn was instantly stunned by the room full of anime figures.
Display cabinets throughout the room were densely packed with various exquisite figures of all sizes. Not only were there figures of cute anime girls he recognized, but also a large number of illustrations and figures of characters from anime unique to this world, presumably.
This was something Lynn hadn't expected.
"Otaku?" Lynn asked doubtfully.
Bai Yi blushed, coughed, and said awkwardly, "No... just a hobby... young people need to have some hobbies, right..."
But Bai Yi also knew now wasn't the time for small talk.
He quickly opened the wardrobe.
Then swiftly pulled out piece after piece of clothing, placing them on a chair, and whispered,
"Big Brother! These are all brand new, bought just before I went to hell. You can try them on to see if they fit. If not, I'll go downstairs and find some of my dad's suits. He visits occasionally and left a lot of clothes here."
Then he pulled out a key from under his pillow and said seriously,
"Big Brother, you change clothes first. I'll go get some cash from the safe, definitely enough for our journey!"
Lynn nodded, letting him handle his business.
Bai Yi immediately hurried out of the bedroom stealthily and closed the door.
Looking at the room full of various figures, and the dust-covered, gold-trimmed limited edition PS8 not far away, Lynn's mouth twitched.
But Lynn knew now wasn't the time for feeling resentful. He picked up the flashy clothes Bai Yi had given him, randomly chose one, then glanced sideways at the wide-eyed Blood Doll.
The corner of Lynn's mouth quirked up.
"Doll, want to see my magnificent physique? Super impressive!"
The Blood Doll shook her head rapidly, eyes wide. "No."
Lynn closed his eyes. "Then why aren't you turning around?!"
The Blood Doll bared her teeth at him, then reluctantly pouted, hugged her Doll, sat down in a corner, and faced the wall in thought.
"Remember, stay in ghost form during this time. Don't let the humans here see you, or they'll be scared to death, understand?"
"Understood! Understood!"
The Blood Doll grumbled, very dissatisfied.
Only then was Lynn satisfied.
He then waved his hand, retracting his Night Doctor attire, whistled leisurely, and started picking through the kind of clothes only rich kids would wear.
...
What he didn't know was.
In the living room.
With a creak, a bedroom door slowly opened.
A little girl in bunny pajamas, holding a teddy bear plushie, walked out barefoot, yawning sleepily.
"Mmm..."
Her eyes were bleary with sleep as her gaze fell on the light seeping from under a door crack down the hall.
"Did Brother come back? Strange... if it's Brother, why didn't I hear any noise?"
She slipped on her fluffy slippers, hugged her plushie, and sleepily walked toward her brother's bedroom.
Faintly, she could see a young man's figure through the crack.
She stopped at the bedroom door.
Stretched out a hand and gave a big, forceful yawn, checked the time.
3:30 AM.
Then she reached out, pushed the bedroom door open with a creak.
The little girl asked sleepily, "Brother, is that you?"
And Lynn, who was stark naked while changing clothes, hearing the noise behind him, almost instinctively turned around.
Instantly...
Author's Note: Struggling a bit with writer's block today, transition chapter, will make up for it tomorrow. As for this world's Lynn... hehehehe (gradually perverted smile)
