Chapter 729: Chapter 728: Going Back (2)
It was only normal; after all, Shi Che had stayed here for over a month now. With his large company left in Liang City, even though he connected with Xiao Zhao via video every day and dealt with documents daily, it just wasn’t as convenient as being in Liang City.
Moreover, there were business courtesies that simply couldn’t be managed via video calls, so it wasn’t possible for him to stay here indefinitely.
Ling Chuxia’s heart was clear as a mirror, yet she was filled with apprehension.
For her, Liang City held many unpleasant memories, many things she did not want to recall. There were also people... she did not want to confront.
Although she hadn’t been in Lin City for long, she indeed liked the place, without the glitz of a big city, yet with the tranquility of a small one.
If possible, she really wished to stay here forever, to continue living her life just like this with Shi Che.
If they went back... would something unpredictable happen between her and Shi Che?
Lost in such restless thoughts, Ling Chuxia stood motionless until she felt a shadow envelop her; only then did she lift her gaze in confusion. Shi Che had appeared before her at some point, his tall frame slightly blocking the light in front of her. As she looked up, she met his deep, dark eyes.
Eyes that were once always filled with coldness were now always so gentle. With the light shining down, fine glimmers sparkled within them, incredibly beautiful.
"Why are you standing here so foolishly? Your hair is so wet and you haven’t dried it; what if you catch a cold?"
Shi Che’s deep voice resonated, though his words carried reproach, the tone was unbearably gentle. He reached out to wrap his arm around her, guiding her to sit on the bed, then walked to the bathroom, took out a hair dryer, and returned to her side. He plugged it in, standing in front of her, holding the hair dryer in one hand and lightly combing through her hair with the other as he started to blow it dry.
Ling Chuxia came to her senses and felt incredibly unused to this: even though they were divorced now, three years had formed many habits; it had always been her taking care of Shi Che, and now he was the one taking care of her.
Ling Chuxia hurriedly lifted her hand, saying, "Shi Che, I can do it myself. I’m not used to you doing this."
But Shi Che pushed her hand away, simply saying, "Just sit still."
He paused, then added, "You’ll have to get used to it eventually."
"You’ll have to get used to it..." Ling Chuxia’s hand slightly halted, and an overwhelming sense of happiness surged up, pounding her heart. Was Shi Che suggesting that from now on, he would be the one to take care of her?
Ling Chuxia’s lips curved slightly as she looked up at Shi Che, unable to deny that he was incredibly handsome. From this angle, she could see his perfect jawline, the distinct contours of his profile.
People often say that this angle exposes a person’s flaws most readily, yet not a single flaw could be perceived in him. Truly, there was no angle at which he didn’t look impeccable.
She watched Shi Che blow-drying her hair with focus and tenderness, as if studying a document from his company, and she sighed blissfully.
Suddenly, a noise from the handbag on the sofa pulled Ling Chuxia back to reality. She knew that sound was Xiao Zhao requesting a video call.
Her teeth lightly bit her lower lip, and after hesitating for a long while, she finally spoke softly, "Shi Che, when are you going back to Liang City?"
Even though she was reluctant to ask, she had to face the question eventually.
