Chapter 650: Chapter 649: Not Treating You as a Stand-In (9)

Shi Che was so cooperative that Ling Chuxia had an easy time administering the medicine. After he swallowed the pills, Ling Chuxia placed the cup back on the coffee table with one hand and prepared to withdraw the arm that was around Shi Che’s shoulder and to stand up from the sofa.

But before she could retract her hand, Shi Che’s head suddenly tilted and fell onto Ling Chuxia’s shoulder. His body also leaned towards her, and in an instant, he collapsed into Ling Chuxia’s embrace.

Ling Chuxia was momentarily stunned. Her dark pupils blinked, and then her gaze slightly darkened. She placed her hands on Shi Che’s chest, intending to push him away.

Shi Che was dazed, only aware of the familiar scent enveloping him. This scent, like the finest medicine in the world, gradually alleviated the agonizing pain in his head. Unconsciously, he sought it out, wanting only to get closer and closer. When he sensed that this scent was about to leave him, he reflexively stretched out his hands, clutching tightly, unwilling to let go.

So, just as Ling Chuxia had pushed Shi Che away a bit, Shi Che suddenly lifted his arms and held her slender waist tightly, burrowing even more into her arms. The slight distance Ling Chuxia had managed to create was immediately closed again, leaving no space between them, with Shi Che’s head resting on her shoulder, his warm breath bathing her neck and causing her to involuntarily get goosebumps.

Ling Chuxia furrowed her brows deeply. She had only fed him medicine because she was worried something might happen to him at her place—who allowed him to embrace her? Ling Chuxia raised her hand to grasp Shi Che’s hand, trying forcefully to pry it open. However, the harder she tried, the tighter Shi Che gripped, until she was sweating from the effort and still could not pry one of his fingers loose. Instead, his hold tightened to the point where she was finding it hard to breathe.

Ling Chuxia’s delicate features scrunched up together. She turned her head slightly, and Shi Che’s handsome face was incredibly close, his features breathtaking, meticulously sculpted by God, every inch perfect. But at that moment, looking at him only filled her with exasperation. If she hadn’t known that he really did have a headache, she would have thought he was doing it on purpose. Now, she was starting to regret meddling; whether he lived or died had nothing to do with her. Why did she even bother giving him medicine? Now here she was, trapped in his embrace, unable to break free.

Weakened from illness, Ling Chuxia’s body was already soft and feeble. She had also exerted quite a bit of strength while trying to struggle, and now she was so weary that she was gasping for breath, her head foggy. Although reluctant, her eyes gradually grew heavy, her eyelids slowly dropping until her vision went black, and like that, she fell asleep.

When Shi Che woke up, the entire living room was flooded with sunlight, warm all around.

His dark eyes slowly opened, revealing the warm light filling the room... and Ling Chuxia’s lovely face. Her long, dense eyelashes fluttered like butterflies, her delicate nose, and pink lips appeared so beautiful, so unreal.

Shi Che blinked unconsciously. Was he dreaming? Otherwise, how could Ling Chuxia appear so close to him?
