Chapter 641: Chapter 640 What on Earth Do You Want to Do (10)

"If it wasn’t Brother Xuan... then..."

The very thought of a certain possibility caused Ling Chuxia’s pitch-black pupils to sink even further, lackluster from her illness. Now they grew darker. She propped herself up with her hands and slowly sat up in bed, flinging off the covers to get up.

Her body was still feverish. As the blanket was lifted, a chill enveloped her, making her shiver uncontrollably. She bit her lip, but stood up straight nonetheless, taking one slow step at a time toward the living room.

With her body aching and weak, Ling Chuxia moved very slowly, but she kept going persistently. Once she exited the bedroom, she could immediately spot the tall figure in the kitchen.

So familiar, so deeply etched in her memory, yet so ironically present.

It really was him! She hadn’t dealt with him, and yet he had the audacity to show up at her house!

At that moment, Shi Che, with his back to Ling Chuxia, hadn’t noticed her coming out. It seemed he was cooking porridge, clumsily following instructions over the phone. With the phone wedged between his ear and shoulder, his speech was intermittent. "I used the water-to-rice ratio you suggested, but it’s still too runny. Hmm... I see. Alright, I’ll give it another try."

Shi Che ended the call and indeed, he poured out the nearly done porridge and started over, adding rice and water again.

Ling Chuxia stood rooted to the spot, staring blankly at Shi Che for a while, unable to comprehend his actions, unable to understand at all what he was doing.

In a rare pause from his busyness, Shi Che’s gaze accidentally swept over and caught sight of Ling Chuxia standing behind him. He started for a moment before realizing her presence, then with a slight frown appearing between his brows, he quickly strode towards her.

"Chuxia, why are you out of bed? You should have put on more clothes, your fever hasn’t gone down!"

As he spoke, he reached out to pick up Ling Chuxia in a horizontal carry, intending to take her back to bed, but as his hand extended, Ling Chuxia stepped back sharply, causing Shi Che’s hand to clutch at empty air.

Yet Ling Chuxia acted as if she hadn’t heard Shi Che’s words. Instead, she tilted her head slightly, her gaze cold, and with a hoarse yet chilly voice, she asked, "Why are you here?"

Shi Che’s hand slowly clenched and then relaxed, as if nothing had happened. His dark eyes settled on her pale, bloodless face, a tinge of pain coloring his pupils, "Chuxia, go back to bed and lie down. We can talk about everything else later."

But Ling Chuxia stood her ground stubbornly, coldly staring at him, and spoke bluntly, "Leave!"

Shi Che’s brow furrowed lightly, but his expression showed no displeasure, nor did his eyes flicker. His voice remained calm, "You still have a fever, and you can’t catch a cold now. Go back to bed and rest, or your illness might worsen."

Ling Chuxia suddenly found it a bit laughable. Was Shi Che deaf or just disregarding her words? Besides, whether she was feverish or severely ill, what did it have to do with him?

Her hands, hanging at her sides, clenched tightly. Her gaze on Shi Che grew even colder, and her rough lips moved, her words just as rigid, "My business is none of your concern. Get out; you’re not welcome here!"

Yet just as Ling Chuxia’s words ended, Shi Che seemed to have run out of patience. He stretched out his hand, scooped up Ling Chuxia in a horizontal carry, and headed straight for the bedroom.
