Cyclops turned his head, glanced at him, then said, "He’s always done very well."
"Until that woman appeared, and suddenly caught him in the act, right?"
Faced with Luo Ke’s words, Chairman Hong seemed speechless.
Luo Ke narrowed his sharp eyes, caught his expression, and said, "You’re done for; she’s definitely followed you here."
"Impossible, my car is equipped with anti-tracking devices."
"Rather, she already knows you’ve been exposed and came straight here," Luo Ke pointed out viciously, "Can you dare say you haven’t aroused her suspicions?"
To this, Chairman Hong hurriedly explained, "I was just afraid this might happen, so I sent someone to deal with her. Anyway, Xiao Jianming definitely wouldn’t dare to act rashly, let alone reach out to save her; he has to consider his mother."
"Did you manage to eliminate her?"
Chairman Hong turned pale, unable to refute.
Luo Ke turned to Cyclops, who was leaning on his cane, and said, "It’s urgent to move quickly; this man has wasted our most precious time and keeps finding excuses to shirk responsibility. People like him can’t be kept."
Upon hearing Luo Ke’s last words, Chairman Hong was already scared to his knees, saying to them, "I did my best, really did my best! And I don’t know why she suddenly found me. Someone must have told her something, right? Otherwise, dead men tell no tales! It must be Xiao Jianming who said something to her, making her suddenly suspicious of me."
Apparently, the two people across from him really considered what he was saying.
"First kill the old woman, leave Xiao Jianming devastated, and have her bear the infamy. That way, whatever she plans to do next, she’ll have to think twice," Cyclops hammered the tip of his cane on the floor, making up his mind.
Luo Ke didn’t seem to oppose his decision.
Indeed, they had been confused by Gu Nuan recently, long wishing to tear up a ticket for revenge.
He walked to the desk, picked up the microphone, just about to order someone to take action.
Then suddenly, Cyclops paused. He sensed something.
There was a gust of wind, carrying an incongruous scent, contrasted sharply with the room’s chilly atmosphere, almost cracking the icy coldness of his heart.
Because of this, he leaned to look beneath the window, spotting a pair of eyes on the windowsill beneath him.
Those eyes, jet black, like a sword shooting from the darkness, radiating sharp, fierce light.
Luo Ke noticed his back suddenly frozen, motionless, thus walked beside him, equally surprised to see Gu Nuan standing under their windowsill.
What an incredibly gutsy woman!
Could she actually have charged in here alone?
Luo Ke abruptly gasped, his fingers clutching his shirt over his chest.
Cyclops had no choice but to reach out a hand to steady him, asking, "Is it an attack?"
"Seems like it."
"Why suddenly an attack?"
"Don’t know." Luo Ke said the three words "don’t know," his eyes rolled back, fainting abruptly.
This left everyone in the room extremely astonished.
Cyclops quickly glanced downstairs again, the woman vanished suddenly, as if merging into the darkness, disappearing without a trace, making these people who had long dwelled in darkness feel an unfamiliar fear.
Calling for someone to initially move Luo Ke away, Cyclops stepped over, yanking Chairman Hong off his knees, saying, "If you don’t want to die, hurry and act before they manage to rescue her."
Chairman Hong immediately stood up, leading the way ahead.
For safety’s sake, the old woman’s location was only known to Chairman Hong, and no one else.
They boarded the building’s elevator, Chairman Hong promptly pressed the basement level button. As the elevator descended, he suddenly remembered a question: "Even if she followed us here, a security guard is watching the door, how did she get in? I’ve told the guard not to let anyone in."
Cyclops squinted, also seemingly suddenly recalling something, so swiftly extended his cane towards the elevator button.
But, it was already too late. As the elevator reached the floor and opened automatically, a large-caliber gun barrel extended into the elevator, blocking the closing door, directing straight at them both.
Chairman Hong, panicked, dropped to his knees, raising both hands, saying, "It wasn’t me; he’s the mastermind!"
No sooner said than done, as the gun barrel turned towards Chairman Hong due to his movement, Cyclops swung the cane, striking the gun.
The man brandishing the gun saw the barrel knocked aside, resolutely stepped into the elevator with a leg sweep, directly hitting Cyclops’s lower body.
Cyclops grunted, just then, the open elevator door revealed the gunman’s face. Cyclops saw his eyes, muttering, "I should’ve killed you all long ago—"
