"I—I’m delivering soup to the chairman, on the head chef’s orders," the cook said.

"What kind of soup?"

"Silkie chicken soup, it’s good for the health."

Zhao Mengjin ignored her words and directly lifted the lid on the bowl of soup she was holding on the tray.

In the bowl, the clear broth and fragrant aroma seemed to have nothing amiss.

The cook smiled, "Miss, do you feel reassured now?"

Zhao Mengjin simply gestured with her hand toward the direction opposite where she was standing.

The cook saw her gesture, looked back, and saw Tang Sili walking up from the staircase.

Tang Sili came up to the two of them.

Zhao Mengjin said to him, "Professor Tang, do you think this bowl of soup is suitable for the chairman to drink?"

Unexpectedly, her words first triggered a strong reaction from the cook.

"Miss, what are you saying? This person is an outsider, not a professional doctor personally hired by the chairman; how can he casually interfere with the chairman’s treatment?" The cook spoke assertively, with an aggressive tone.

Additionally, the cook’s loud voice managed to attract the house doctor who was on standby here.

The house doctor already quite resented Tang Sili, and now, upon hearing that he was about to interfere with his important patient, he promptly ran upstairs and glared at Tang Sili, "What’s going on?"

Tang Sili didn’t speak.

Once again, the cook spoke first, saying, "I followed Dr. Lu and the head chef’s orders and made a bowl of soup for the chairman. But this person came over and confused Miss, saying that the soup is unsuitable for the chairman to drink."

"Why is it unsuitable?" Dr. Lu stood with his hands on his hips, resembling a fighting rooster, standing erect before Tang Sili.

Tang Sili’s eyes first glanced over at Zhao Mengjin. To his surprise, this young girl, at some point, began mimicking Gu Nuan’s mannerisms almost perfectly, suddenly standing by idly, seeming to want to see how far his manipulative prowess could go.

What bad luck had he inherited to be involved with these two women?

"Um—" Tang Sili slowly parted his thin lips, still looking at the bowl of soup in the cook’s hand, "actually, I can’t see anything wrong with this bowl of soup—"

"If you can’t see anything wrong with the soup, what are you stopping it for? Are you looking for trouble, trying to target someone?" Dr. Lu, increasingly aggressive, pressed.

Tang Sili said, "No."

"No?!" Dr. Lu’s voice grew even louder, while gesturing that the cook could bring the soup in for Xiao Jianming, as this guy had already admitted defeat.

Unexpectedly, Tang Sili suddenly reached out a hand, once again stopping the cook.

"What do you intend to do!" The cook nearly shrieked, seemingly overly anxious.

Everyone in the house seemed summoned by her voice, though none dared ascend recklessly upstairs; after all, where Xiao Jianming resided was a restricted area for those without permission. Thus, they all craned their necks at the staircase, observing.

Matters had reached such a point, should Tang Sili make but a single misstep, not only would he be implicated, but it would also draw his employer’s wife, Gu Nuan, into trouble within this household. It would likely be difficult to get the household’s assistance in the future.

No mistake could be afforded.

Every step treacherous.

Suddenly, Tang Sili’s eyes shot toward Dr. Lu’s face.

Dr. Lu, startled by his sudden glare, reacted with surprise, "You, what’s wrong with you?"

"I’ve said, it’s not that I see any issue with this bowl of soup; it’s just that for someone as important as the chairman, how can the food he consumes be delivered without any inspection whatsoever? At the very least, anything my employer’s wife eats must first be inspected by me to ensure there are no food safety issues. Or is it possible that the chairman isn’t as important as Mrs. Xiao? Or perhaps, Dr. Lu, do you—"
