Chapter 787: Chapter 787: Results Out (8)
Realizing someone was listening, even though it was a family member, Zhan Dapeng immediately shut his mouth.
Some things, almost dark, so filthy that none of the brothers wanted to recall that very dark past.
In Gu Nuan’s room, Little Pudding lay by his aunt’s bedside, watching her sleep. As he watched, his little eyelids began to droop.
Since everyone was busy and things were getting a bit complex, they figured it wasn’t very safe to leave the child in the studio anymore. So it seemed better to place the child with Gu Nuan for better care.
Ou Yanan saw the child fall asleep. He walked over, circled around the foot of the bed, picked up the child, and planned to place him on an adjacent iron bed that had been set up.
Little Pudding vaguely gazed at his face as he was picked up and suddenly uttered a sound, "You look a lot like Auntie."
Ou Yanan’s eyes lowered slightly.
It was something even a child could easily see.
He laid the child down and covered him with a thin blanket.
Ou Yanan turned around and walked back to the bedside.
The sleeping Gu Nuan’s lips suddenly moved.
That made him tense up instantly.
She opened her eyes. Her gaze wasn’t directed at him but toward the window, as if she was still in a dream.
For the past few days, she had been having nightmares. Every time her heart relaxed, she would dream of that pair of eyes. Since that farewell in Brazil, those eyes beneath the motorcycle helmet had become frequent visitors in her dreams.
"Are you awake?"
The voice came through and struggled into her not so good ears.
Turning her head, Gu Nuan faced the blurry visage before her, unable to recognize it, so she reached out and touched his face, saying, "Weren’t you standing by the window?"
It seemed she was dreaming about someone.
Ou Yanan took her hand from his face and said, "I’m not him."
Gu Nuan instantly sobered up, as if doused with cold water.
She sat up and shook her head.
Ou Yanan was steadying her all the while and said, "Feeling more awake now? You slept for a long time. The professor and I were a bit worried about your condition, afraid that you might be—"
Gu Nuan turned back, her eyes still locked onto his features.
Ou Yanan’s expression darkened, "Mrs. Xiao, I am not the person you think I am. Don’t you understand yet?"
"Yes, you’ve said that to me before," Gu Nuan said as if recalling, "Back then, I was half-believing when you said it. Until, the last time in Brazil, I saw a pair of eyes so similar to yours—"
In reality, those eyes were closer to the ones from her memory than those of the man before her.
Thinking back to the first time she met this young man in the hospital, yes, his gaze was so unfamiliar, as if he had never known or seen her before. On the contrary, the eyes she saw in Brazil had a very profound meaning and glanced over her face.
Gu Nuan turned abruptly to face this familiar stranger, "Who are you really?"
"I am Dr. Ou, Mrs. Xiao," Ou Yanan said, his tone still as calm as ever with no change, "I told you a long time ago."
Little did he know, upon hearing his words, she suddenly let out a strange laugh from her lips.
"You’ve actually called me Mrs. Xiao, Dr. Ou?"
