Chapter 444: Hong Men Yan
Chapter 444: Hong Men Yan
"How dare you Six Pulse Sword Sect slaughter our men in the jewelry shop!" Sima Huo, the representative from the Sima Family shouted with anger and his finger shook uncontrollably.
However, Ruo Zhi was ready for what he had said and she also stood up, "According to witnesses, your men from the jewelry shop killed one of our disciples in cold blood.
"And that’s what led our disciples to fight back in self-defense."
She glanced over at the Governor after she was done to wait for his verdict.
The Governor glanced at her and then at Sima Huo.
He knew that the Sima Family and Six Pulse Sword Sect were just trying to find a way to finish off each other.
They were only here to try and find a justification for what they were doing.
After a moment of pondering, he decided to let them do what they wanted here.
He could only try his best to help the ordinary folks.
Sima Huo didn’t wait for his response and said, "Hmph. The Six Pulse Sword Sect have been cunningly trying to find trouble with the Sima Family.
"Those disciples must have been ordered to kill off one of them to frame the Sima Family."
"Are you even hearing yourself and what you are speaking?" Ruo Zhi refuted immediately and gave Sima Huo a side-eye.
She went on and said, "We are a reputable sect tasked by his majesty to protect Hong Feng City.
"The Six Pulse Sword Sect have been loyal and put in every effort to do so with righteousness.
"How dare you accuse us of such evil doings!"
Sima Huo gave her a smirk and said, "Reputable sect?"
He reached into his sleeve pocket and took out a jade bottle.
It was the one that Sima Ye had used to collect the memories from the rogue cultivators, who were recruited by the Six Pulse Sword Sect, and killed off.
"What’s that? We don’t have time for child’s play." Ruo Zhi was surprised for a moment and she turned around at the Governor, "Governor, I urge you to restrain the Sima Family while we investigate their wrongdoings in Hong Feng City so far.
"This might be the only chance you got to do so."
She tried to entice the Governor but the Governor wasn’t moved by it.
He knew better than to trust any of them.
Sima Huo shook his head at Ruo Zhi and said, "Trying to distract away from what I have here in my hand?"
Ruo Zhi shot a quick glance to one of the disciples next to her and the disciple nodded at her quietly.
When Sima Huo saw it, he figured that something was up and he turned around and glanced at the other members from the Sima Family.
They also nodded at him quietly.
Sima Huo opened the jade bottle and a clear droplet of liquid rose out from it.
The droplet gave out a bright glow and imagery with sounds were projected into the air.
Ruo Zhi was pacing around in the imagery and raised her fist saying, "The Six Pulse Sword Sect will reward you well if you disrupt and destroy the shops and factories that belong to the business partners of the Sima Family."
The rogue cultivators that were seated gave out a loud cheer and they brandished their weapons in the air.
Ready to do the Six Pulse Sword Sect’s bidding.
The projection in the air then dissipated and the droplet of clear liquid dropped back into the jade bottle.
Sima Huo closed the jade bottle with a stopper and he stared at Ruo Zhi, "What do you have to say now?
"Anyone could see what you were trying to do and I wouldn’t put it past you to kill your own disciple to frame us."
Ruo Zhi lowered her head, bit her lower lip and thought for a moment.
She moved her hand to the handle of her sword before she looked up again and said, "Those imagery must have been forged! This isn’t true!"
Sima Huo was expecting this and said, "Anyone would know that the Memory Recovery Formation Array captures the memories perfectly and there is no way to tamper with the memories."
"You..." Ruo Zhi didn’t have anything left to refute him and she shot a side-eye to the disciple again.
The disciple closed his eyes for a moment and when he opened his eyes, he gave her a nod.
Ruo Zhi calmed and stood up straight after that and said, "That was before and it doesn’t change the fact that your men in the jewelry shop had killed one of our disciples."
She glanced at the Governor and urged him once more, "Governor, please decide quickly, don’t be fooled and taken in by their trickery with the fake imagery."
The Governor was getting impatient and he wanted to end their lives right there if he could.
But he had to deal with them for the moment and he wanted them to stop.
Before he could speak, a familiar voice suddenly came into his mind.
"Let them be. We have to sacrifice some for our next step of action."
It was the Dark Lord’s voice and the Governor felt relief that his role might be coming to an end soon.
He had tried so much to improve the lives of the ordinary people but he was so far unsuccessful for most of the time.
The Clans and Sects were so entrenched in everything that every move he made, he was faced with the difficult task of getting rid of the corrupted officials and those involved in the bribes.
And for the Clans and Sects, they were only interested in their gains, treating the ordinary folks as beneath them and dispensable.
He had finally realized that his idealistic dream of them giving up power was impossible to be achieved.
Either they were to be got rid of completely or they would have to be forced to give it all up by someone that was much more powerful than they were.
The person whom he thought was the best would be the Dark Lord.
He gave out a sigh and said, "Both of you have a point and I’m afraid that I can’t decide who is right or wrong.
"It would be best if the Sima Family and Six Pulse Sword Sect arranged for the elders to sit down and work out a solution.
"I can only try to ensure the safety of the folks in Hong Feng City for the time being."
