Chapter 210: My Wife Is Just Acting Cute

Chapter 210: My Wife Is Just Acting Cute

"But I heard from Honey that we have guests coming for lunch today. When are they arriving?" Ethan Sterling smiled warmly, but his sincere little eyes somehow felt a bit too friendly, leaving people uneasy.

Ruby Sullivan put on a serious face, "Ethan Sterling, the guests are Seth’s friends, don’t make trouble."

"I’m not a child," Ethan Sterling gave her a reassuring look.

When it was almost the agreed time, Jack and his father showed up at the door. Jack was carrying a pink cake box, filled with those delicious pastries Ian had mentioned from the coffee shop to Ruby Sullivan.

Ethan Sterling enthusiastically opened the door to welcome the father and son, "Hello, I’m Win, Honey and Seth’s dad."

Ian was clearly taken aback, "Hello, hello, I’m Jack’s dad. Since I’ve dropped him off, I’ll be heading off now."

"Oh, don’t," Ethan Sterling quickly held him back, "We Celestians are known for our hospitality, you’ve come all this way, you must stay for a meal."

Ian took it seriously and, seeing Ethan Sterling so warm-hearted, decided to stay with his son. Little did he know that this was a trap set by Mr. Sterling?

Although lunch was prepared by Mama Bennett, the roast chicken had been marinated the night before, strictly following the steps Ruby Sullivan had laid out. Once the foil was peeled back, the aroma was irresistible, the skin roasted to a slight golden color, crispy and instantly captivating everyone’s appetite.

Jack looked at his friend with envy, "Your mom is an amazing cook."

Seth felt no mood to smile, as he understood his dad quite well, at least enough to know about their stories. Thinking of this, he glanced at his sister, realizing she was the one who knew all along that their dad would come, hence her big plan.

Seth shook his head with a chuckle, amused by his own childishness, yet his sister’s smug demeanor made her seem so adorable.

After a few minutes of eating, Ethan Sterling switched to social mode, asking about where they lived, their hobbies, and unreservedly queried Ian about the time and reasons for his marriage.

However, every time he met Ruby Sullivan’s dagger-like gaze, he quickly reined it in, showing just a casual chatting demeanor, not feeling like he was prying.

Ian was no pushover either, "It’s rare to see such a good relationship after you and Wenny divorced, Mr. Sterling."

Ethan Sterling chuckled, not continuing the topic.

After the meal, Ian took his leave, and Ethan Sterling walked him to the door, whispering by the car, "My wife gets mad at me, throws a little tantrum, and insists on a divorce. Don’t be fooled by her gentle looks; she’s got quite a temper; only I can tolerate her."

The subtext was evident, despite their divorce being true, emotions remained. In his heart, a wife was always a wife, and no divorce would change that, so other men should stay out of it.

Ian smiled coolly, "I think Wenny’s divorce from you was serious, not just a tantrum. Since she’s now single, we should be in a fair competition." He confidently extended his hand to shake with Ethan Sterling.

What fair competition? Who wants to compete with him? On what grounds is he competing? Ethan Sterling was exasperated by his words, his face darkened, looked at his hand, and coldly said, "I have a germophobia" before turning away.

Ian wasn’t bothered, only finding Celestian men a bit capricious, patting his shoulder like a brother one minute, then avoiding a handshake the next with an excuse of germophobia. Quite an interesting character.

Ruby Sullivan stood at the villa entrance, not knowing what the two men had said, but the image of Ethan Sterling leaving Ian’s hand in the air seemed familiar, reminding her of a time the CEO had left her hanging with the same germophobia excuse.

History tends to repeat itself astonishingly.

She scrutinized Ethan Sterling’s face with interest, thinking his level of anger needed immediate outlet, she couldn’t help but laugh. She waved back at Ian, who waved at her.

Ethan Sterling walked right up to her, pulling down her hand, "What’s there to wave about?" He grumbled, dragging her into the house.

Ruby Sullivan could only inwardly admit defeat to him.

Ethan Sterling’s visit wasn’t just to see his daughter and Ruby Sullivan, but he couldn’t resist joining in his son’s grand project, quickly bonding with the two boys in Seth’s room.

Despite Ethan Sterling’s obvious hostility towards Ian, he was good to Jack, as in his eyes, the little guy was his son’s first friend, and treating him well was the right thing to do.

Honey felt a bit lonely, her dad was supposed to be visiting her, but he was stolen away by her brother’s chemistry experiments.

Until Ruby Sullivan pulled her sister into the room to join their discussion, only then did Honey’s mood improve.

That night, while Ruby Sullivan was soaking in the bath, Ethan Sterling had completed his fatherly duties, sending the two little ones to bed. Ruby Sullivan was satisfied but still took out the duvet he had used before, placing it on the sofa.

"Thank you Mr. Sterling, for coming all this way, have an early night."

Ethan Sterling looked at his ’accommodations’ and felt Ruby Sullivan wasn’t considering his fatigue at all. Seeing her turn away without hesitation, he grabbed the quilt from the couch and followed her.

Ruby Sullivan turned back, "There’s no empty room here, and you can’t sleep in the lab, there are chemicals around, too risky at night."

Ethan Sterling said nothing, just carrying the quilt alongside her, following her to the bedroom door, his big bright eyes seemingly putting on a pitiful look?

Ruby Sullivan frowned in exasperation, "Don’t tell me you’re also planning to sleep in the room."

Ethan Sterling clutched the quilt and yawned, "The company is insanely busy lately, I’ve been working overtime to make time to see Honey, taking dozens of hours of flights, I’m exhausted. Your bed’s big enough, share half with me."

"No way." Ruby Sullivan turned and went in, shutting the door without hesitation, little realizing Ethan Sterling would swiftly block the door, his back took a solid hit.

Ruby Sullivan was startled, "Are you dumb? Are you alright?"

"Ah, can’t do it anymore, I must sleep in a bed tonight." Ethan Sterling blinked his innocent big eyes, pitifully.

Ruby Sullivan looked at him with annoyance, "Mr. Sterling, you’re overstepping."

Ethan Sterling took a deep breath, gazing at her affectionately, but didn’t voice what was in his heart, for her, he could only do this.

"Anyway, I’m sleeping in the bed." Mr. Sterling insisted.
