Chapter 321: The Storm Beneath Fate [1]

Chapter 321: The Storm Beneath Fate [1]

As Alden stood on stage, celebrating his victory, a man seated within the crowd, Jeremy Voidforge, the Principal of the Astralis Academy, looked at him in amusement.

His disciple had won the match, but that wasn’t the reason behind the wide smile spreading across his face.

"Is it time already...?"

He muttered, his gaze looking at something far beyond the physical world, towards the threads of destiny only he could see due to the technique he had acquired many years ago.

Devouring Spectre Technique.

It was the same technique that made him so powerful, the same technique he used to devour his own children and the same technique he was going to use to take over the body of Alden Dravel.

The plan had been set long before the boy was born.

Jeremy knew that one day he would have to switch bodies to get rid of the restrictions placed on his Xuzhe bloodline, the same bloodline that made them suffer as slaves to Dareath Ravenscar, only to be used by him for his conquest.

He had waited countless years with his broken body to find the perfect vessel.

But the time was near now.

Soon enough, he would finally be free from it all, once he took over the young body of Alden Draven, the boy who had the highest potential among all the people he had seen.

The battle today had proved his point even further.

He had deliberately matched Alden against specific opponents to nudge his fate in certain directions but this match today wasn’t for that purpose. Instead, it was to see if his decision to take over Alden’s body was correct.

Jeremy wanted to confirm Alden’s talent one last time. So he matched him against Ryou, a boy who was clearly at a higher rank but was hiding it perfectly and just as Jeremy had expected, Alden had defeated that boy effortlessly.

"You really are the perfect choice, Alden."

His smile widened even further.

Just then, he snapped his fingers and a man appeared beside him immediately. The man wore a smiley face mask and a completely white suit with a red tie, like a performer.

It was one of Jeremy’s creations.

A homunculus.

Something that shouldn’t have existed naturally.

Jeremy had created it using the bodies of some talented students and teachers of Astralis Academy. They had gone missing to others but in reality, Jeremy had experimented with their bodies and minds to create an army for himself.

Only a few of those abominations had actually survived and the man before him was the most successful one.

Jeremy had placed this man in charge of all his negotiations and overseeing the plan, because as an extension of his will, it could never go against him.

If that wasn’t all, he had also used this creation to infiltrate the demon cult. This was the same person responsible for the attack of demon cultists on the first-year student trip to Lustra.

He was also the one who negotiated his terms with Seles, the one who had actually inherited Jeremy’s blood.

"Is everything prepared...?"

He asked, his voice cold.

The man with the smiley face mask, Semo, replied as naturally as a human would.

"Yes, Master."

"I have already notified the demons and cultists I have allowed to enter. Even the Duke of Greed is here and he promised to keep the patriarch of the Draven family, who is busy snooping around, occupied."

"How many of them are there...?" Jeremy asked, his eyes still on Alden, who was walking back towards the audience stands.

Semo looked in that direction as well, as if he could see it too even though the mask he wore didn’t have any holes for eyes.

"There are thousands of Novice-rank Imps, hundreds of demon elites ranked higher than Adept, ten Ascendant-rank Commanders, two Overlord-rank Generals, and commanding them all is Duke Greed, seated at the peak of the Overlord rank."

Semo explained the entire demon force he had let onto the artificial island.

"They are ready to attack at the perfect time, Master."

"Good."

Jeremy nodded.

"Tell them the time is here. Tomorrow, it shall begin. Inform Seles of what has to be done as well. I want her to be in the arena at the time of the ritual, as her blood will be the fuel for its initiation along with her brother, Cedric."

His gaze shifted towards the blonde girl sitting in the audience seats, her crimson eyes focused on Alden while her expression twisted slightly.

"It’s a shame she has to die. After all, she was the most similar to me among all my children. If not for the circumstances, I would have made sure to help her grow beyond this world."

He shook his head.

Until this point, Jeremy had countless children, but all of them were incompetent. Yet when he finally got one who was competent, he had to sacrifice her.

"Such irony..."

"In any case, during the match tomorrow, fate will be in our favour, and at that moment, all the Overlord-rankers should be out, dealing with demons."

"There is no option for failure, Semo."

"Yes, Master." Semo kneeled down reverently.

Jeremy walked toward Semo and patted his shoulder.

"You are the one I trust the most, Semo. So make sure everything goes well."

His voice was softer than before.

"Once everything is over, there will be no witnesses. Jeremy Voidforge will have died as a hero, sacrificing himself for the life of his disciple, to whom he will leave all his wealth."

"And you, Semo, will be the new Principal of Astralis Academy according to his will."

"Yes, Master." Semo bowed even deeper. "I shall make sure that there are no problems."

"Good." Jeremy nodded. "You may leave now."

Semo straightened his body and turned to exit, but before leaving, he turned once more. "What should I do with the agent of the Luminous Accord, Cipher, and her daughter?"

Jeremy looked at him for a few moments.

"Don’t harm them. Let them leave after the chaos tomorrow."

He had no intention of harming either of them.

According to what Cipher had said, the life of her daughter was tied to Alden in some master-slave bond, and if she died, he would too and more importantly, he was sure that she would be of great use to him once he took over Alden’s body.

"Yes, Master." Semo bowed once and left, leaving Jeremy alone in the special audience stand exclusive to him.

His gaze shifted back to Alden, who was now standing with his friends.

"Enjoy your last day, Alden."

With those words, he turned as well, preparing for the day of his liberation.
