Chapter 72 – Old witch!
Chapter 72 – Old witch!
"Du Shijie, you’ve got some nerve! Do you think our fifth division is easy to bully?" Hua Lingfeng, satisfied, gave Su Mu a discreet thumbs-up before turning to shout at Du Shijie.
"As a mentor, you should be impartial and treat every student as if they were your own!"
"And you have the audacity to say things worse than a pig or a dog. Come on, explain to me what you mean by 'not hitting others, but hitting you specifically'!" Hua Lingfeng stepped closer to Du Shijie, who retreated step by step until he was backed against the wall. Seeing Hua Lingfeng still approaching, Du Shijie’s face turned pale, and he hurriedly covered his face, fearing another slap.
"F-Fifth Division Dean, this is all his one-sided story!" Du Shijie stammered in panic. If he didn’t defend himself now, Hua Lingfeng might seize the opportunity to get him removed as a mentor.
Being a mentor at the Martial House was not only a highly respected profession but also came with excellent benefits. All facilities and prime training grounds within the Martial House were free to use, and outstanding performance could earn additional rewards. Naturally, Du Shijie didn’t want to lose this position.
"One-sided story? Did you call them trash or not?" Hua Lingfeng’s eyes sharpened as he shouted.
Du Shijie opened his mouth but couldn’t refute. He had indeed insulted them, though he hadn’t meant the entire fifth division.
"Are you twisting the truth and slandering Su Mu?"
"Did you say the fifth division deserves to be beaten?"
Du Shijie was utterly speechless. Taken out of context, he couldn’t argue against these points, but put together, they sounded much worse!
"And you tried to kill a student from my division just now. I saw it with my own eyes!" Hua Lingfeng’s gaze turned even more severe, and Du Shijie panicked. This alone was enough to leave him defenseless.
"I-I need to see the Deputy House Master!" Du Shijie exclaimed in desperation. Only the Deputy House Master could save him now.
"Fine, let’s go!" Hua Lingfeng shouted coldly, unafraid of facing the Deputy House Master. He turned to leave, but as he reached the door, his gaze swept over the older students, causing them to shrink back.
"If any of you dare to bully my students again, I’ll make sure you regret it!"
The older students from the first four divisions grimaced. With the dean himself stepping in, what could they possibly say?
"You lot, come with me!" Hua Lingfeng paused at the door and called to the older students blocking the rear exit.
The older students hung their heads, understanding that this trip would not end well for them.
As Hua Lingfeng left, Du Shijie let out a long breath and shot a glare at Su Mu before following.
"That guy is really lucky. If the dean hadn’t happened to pass by, he’d be done for!"
Once Hua Lingfeng and the others were out of sight, the older students from the first four divisions looked at Su Mu with displeasure. If the dean hadn’t been there, Su Mu would have been finished!
"Happened to pass by?" Su Mu chuckled, finding a comfortable spot to sit. Hua Lingfeng had been waiting for this day for a long time. Did they really think he just happened to be passing by?
Seeing Su Mu sit in the front row, the older students from the first four divisions glared but didn’t dare say anything. With the dean involved, they knew better than to mess with Su Mu, especially given his strength.
They pretended not to see him and found seats elsewhere, though they continued to glare at Su Mu, their sense of superiority and dominance challenged.
"Fellow seniors, why are you sitting over there? Come sit here." Su Mu called to the older students from the fifth division, a cold smile on his lips.
The older students from the fifth division hesitated, still fearful. Two students who had returned from the rear door wiped the blood from their noses and sat in the back, clearly terrified from the beating they had received.
"What are you afraid of? Come sit. I’d like to see who dares to touch you!" Su Mu said, glancing at the older students from the first four divisions, whose faces darkened but remained silent.
Hearing this, the older students from the fifth division recalled Su Mu’s earlier words and began to muster their courage. If fear only led to more bullying, they might as well stand their ground!
"That’s more like it." Su Mu smiled as they approached, knowing that constant fear wouldn’t do.
The older students from the fifth division sat around Su Mu, forming a protective circle. Anyone wanting to harm Su Mu would have to get through them first!
"Junior brother, you’ve done what we never dared to do. We’ve long wanted to beat that scoundrel Du Shijie, but we lacked the strength and the courage." One older student said to Su Mu, ending with a bitter smile.
"But junior brother, don’t be so impulsive next time. This time, the dean happened to be here, but we might not be so lucky next time." Another older student added, recalling Du Shijie’s punch with fear.
"Happened to be here?" Su Mu shook his head with a serious expression. "Do you know why the dean rarely intervenes? Do you think he was angry today just because Du Shijie tried to kill me?"
The older students from the fifth division looked at each other and shook their heads. They had always blamed the dean for not intervening, thinking it was just his nature.
"The dean doesn’t intervene because he’s disappointed in our lack of resistance." Su Mu sighed, seeing their confusion.
"Ever since joining the fifth division, most students have felt inferior and rarely fought back when bullied. Naturally, the dean became disappointed."
"Think about it. The Martial House forbids killing. At worst, you’d be bedridden for a month or two. But if you fight back, do you think they’d dare bully you again?"
The older students from the fifth division fell into deep thought. They had considered this before, but...
"We wouldn’t fear just the first division, but if the first four divisions unite against us..." One older student struggled to say, voicing their greatest fear.
"So what if they unite? From the first day I entered the Martial House, haven’t they always ganged up on me?" Su Mu said, causing the older students to fall silent.
Seeing their silence, Su Mu didn’t press further. After being bullied for two years, it would be hard to change their mindset overnight. It would take time.
As the older students from the fifth division remained silent, two middle-aged men in work uniforms entered, quietly repairing the desks and chairs. Their faces showed no emotion, as if this had become routine.
The two repairmen worked skillfully, taking only a quarter of an hour to replace the desks, chairs, and floorboards, and clean up the bloodstains. It looked as if nothing had happened.

Shortly after the repairmen left, a middle-aged woman with heavy makeup and ordinary build walked in, holding teaching materials.
"Damn!" The older students from the fifth division turned pale at the sight of her.
"It’s that old witch substituting!"
"Hmm?" Su Mu raised an eyebrow. Old witch?
"Junior brother, be careful. This old witch is not to be trifled with!" The older students from the fifth division warned Su Mu nervously.
"Her name is Yan Ping, and she’s notoriously harsh and mean. No one wants to take her classes, especially us from the fifth division. She’s even worse than Du Shijie!"
"And she’s Du Shijie’s wife. Since you beat him up, she’ll definitely target you!"
Su Mu chuckled upon hearing this. So that’s how it is. Birds of a feather indeed!
