Chapter 219 - 212 Time is Tight
Ge Xiaohui looked around and saw no one supporting her, her face turning extremely grim. "Then what do you think we should do?"
"Everyone has seen the songs from the dance group and the vocal group. They’re either foreign songs or modern ones. We can create songs in the ’Huaxia style,’" Yuwei said calmly.
"That’s a good idea. We can distinguish ourselves from them," Lu Bingbing was the first to agree.
Everyone else nodded in agreement. Although Ge Xiaohui wanted to play around with some foreign highbrow art, circumstances no longer allowed it.
Her expression grew even darker, harboring strong resistance to this style of music.
While the two groups were discussing, the training room door suddenly opened, and Hu Binbin entered from outside.
"Hello, teacher!"
"Hello, everyone!"
Wearing a casual blue short-sleeved shirt, Hu Binbin looked energetic and refreshed.
"Do you know why I’m here today?"
"There’s a very urgent issue. Today is the 8th, the dress rehearsal with the equipment is on the 13th, and the actual performance is on the 14th. We don’t have much time left."
Hu Binbin’s words made everyone tense up. Just now, they had focused entirely on discussing the song style, forgetting the most critical matter at hand.
"So, your time this round is incredibly tight. You’re not just composing a song; after the song is composed, you need to hand it off to the teacher for choreography, and then you have to practice."
"Do the math yourselves—how many days do you even have?"
Hu Binbin’s expression was serious, which made the girls’ hearts race even faster.
"For this performance, in order to achieve better results, both the vocal group and your group will have live bands. You also need to leave time for the band to learn the music, and you need to rehearse with them."
Only now did everyone truly realize how difficult their choice was.
Among them, Liu Feiyu, Lu Xiaoman, Chen Yinghan, and Ge Xiaohui had all thought they were better at singing and songwriting compared to dancing or vocals.
They hoped their strengths could shine better within the songwriting group.
But they completely overlooked one thing: no matter what their ideas were, they only had a few days to present their work on stage.
Do they have the ability to compose within two or three days? Can they learn dance moves and complete rehearsals with a live band in a matter of days?
"What is songwriting? First, you need to have a melody, then lyrics, then choreography, and then everything else."
"If there’s no melody, there’s nothing. So, do you have a melody right now?"
Hu Binbin’s question left everyone stunned.
"To be precise, you only have today and tomorrow to compose."
At this, everyone’s faces turned grim. They had anticipated tight schedules but not to this extreme.
It wasn’t entirely their fault—after all, they lacked experience in this area.
When choosing this theme, they were only thinking about showcasing their strengths or pushing their boundaries, ignoring everything else.
"Alright, to save time now, I’ll discuss this with you. Get yourselves to another location and wait for me there, okay?"
Everyone understood Hu Binbin’s meaning—it meant the two groups would get separate, individual guidance.
Following staff instructions, Lv Fangxin’s group moved to another practice room.
Hu Binbin pulled out his laptop. "Listen to this; it’s the accompaniment I wrote for you last night."
The so-called accompaniment is essentially the arrangement—a song’s producer uses instruments to devise its final form. When Yuwei heard it, the weight lifted from her shoulders.
Having this meant they only needed to work on lyrics!
Clearly, the show wouldn’t allow them to fail and not make it to the stage.
Not just Yuwei, everyone else also showed expressions of relief.
Wang Na even broke into smiles of joy.
"This is the ’Huaxia-style’ song I created for you."
Hu Binbin’s words sparked more cheer—it aligned perfectly with their earlier discussion.
"This style is great; we all love it," Wang Na began taking the spotlight.
The song’s rhythm was incredibly strong, and its melody brimming with power.
Yuwei smiled and said, "This melody makes me feel like galloping across the battlefield."
"That’s just you; we’re aiming to present ourselves as sweet girls," Wang Na laughed.
"In truth, the one galloping across the battlefield is you," Lu Bingbing quipped with a double meaning.
"We can confidently showcase ourselves on stage," Yang Ni was also very pleased with the style.
"This melody is perfect for powerful dance routines," Wei Xin, who had remained somewhat quiet, finally spoke up.
In light of the situation at hand, these realistic women opted to compromise.
Composing their own from scratch was clearly not an option.
Hu Binbin felt pleased that he had convinced these girls without facing much resistance.
If it were him, he might have been more resistant.
Perhaps this is the fundamental difference between an artist and an idol.
Meanwhile, in another room:
"Why has Mr. Hu been staying with their group for so long?" Meimei couldn’t hold back.
"It’s been almost an hour! What are they talking about? Will we have enough time over here?" Lu Peiqin worried aloud.
She was extremely invested in this performance—she didn’t want to get eliminated again.
"Fangxin, why don’t you go check it out?" Lu Xiaoman’s eyes lit up with an idea.
As Chen Yinghan was about to speak, the already frantic and worried Lv Fangxin quickly nodded. "Alright, I’ll go check. Time is really running out."
With this, Chen Yinghan swallowed her words.
She understood Lv Fangxin’s stress—if they didn’t let her take action, she might completely break down.
Apprehensively, Lv Fangxin arrived at the practice room from earlier and carefully opened the door.
"Hey! Hey! What are you doing? We’re not done here yet!" Wang Na immediately barked with a fake smile upon seeing Fangxin poke her head in.
The others joined in, united in their hostility, leaving Yuwei awkwardly stuck in the middle.
Even Hu Binbin looked visibly troubled; he felt his role as a mentor was exceptionally challenging.
"Time’s up—it’s our turn," Fangxin raised her arm in protest.
At such a pressing moment, Fangxin found herself emboldened by a surge of defiance.
Back in her village days, she had fought with the boys and even caught geese with her bare hands!
But her words were immediately met with collective scorn from Yuwei’s group.
"No eavesdropping! No eavesdropping!" Wang Na got up and shut the door right in Fangxin’s face.
With a hand cupped like a megaphone, Hu Binbin said, "I’ll come over soon—right away!"
By now, the rest of Lv Fangxin’s group, coaxed by Chen Yihan, had all come along.
Forcefully, they opened the door, leaving Wang Na no choice but to step aside.
Lu Xiaoman sternly asked, "Mr. Hu, how much longer will it take?"
Chen Yinghan chuckled to herself, amused by Xiaoman’s act—earlier she had nudged Fangxin forward and now she was here playing the leader.
Such little tricks were truly laughable.
Hu Binbin, however, shrugged it off, understanding their feelings. "Five minutes!"
"We’re setting the timer," Lu Xiaoman said seriously.
As the group left, Hu Binbin continued, "Now, based on the theme I just mentioned, start brainstorming lyrics."
"You can each write your own lyrics while thinking ahead about rhymes."
"This way, you can complete the song faster."
Yuwei had grasped his meaning—it was essentially urging them to hurry up and finish the lyrics.
