CHAPTER FIFTY-NINE

ASHER'S POV

"How's she?" I ask the moment Alora walks into my bedroom.

"Confused, depressed, angry. I'm scared for her" She says as she sits by my side.

"Luna is a tough girl, she'll get through this"

" Are you sure?"

"I can bet my life on that. Ace brought her home"

"He did?" She asks surprised.

"Yes, he did. Alora, what if he's telling the truth? What if he really had sex with Sophia under some influence like he claims?"

"Asher, what are you driving at?"

"Do you honestly think that Ace in his right mind will let Sophia make a sex video between them, given his relationship with Luna?"

"Are you trying to say that Sophia made that video without Ace's knowledge?"

"Isn't it obvious? Also, Ace claims that he didn't mean to sleep with her, I think Sophia did something unusual to him"

"This is molding up to something, spill it!"

"So, Sophia is envious of the fact that Ace and Luna are close, don't you think she will do anything in her power to separate them?"

"And, the sex tape was the perfect leverage" She connects the dots.

"I'm glad you're trying to understand me. All this was orchestrated by Sophia. Yes, Ace had sex with her, but I strongly believe that he was under some sort of influence and I have to find out what it was"

"Really?" She asks surprised.

"Yeah"

"Why are you even trying to help Ace? This is your chance to win Luna over, make her your woman like you have always wished. You're just gonna blow it away by making things right between them?"

"Alora, no one wishes for Luna to be mine the way I do. I love Luna and I want us to be together, but have you seen the way she looks at Ace?"

"Uh... yeah"

"Good, do you see the glow in her eyes whenever she's around him?"

"Yeah"

"If this is a fight, Ace already won a long time ago"

"You can't just give up bro. Luna makes you happy. I mean, you have loved and sacrificed a lot for her. You deserve this chance."

"Sort of"

"Asher..." She starts to protest but I cut her off.

"If you love something, let it go and if it comes back to you, then it was yours to begin with. That's what I intend to do with Luna"

"What kind man are you? You see an opportunity and then poof, you blow it off. Duh!" She says, rolling her eyes.

"Trust me, you will be impressed at the results.

"Yeah, whatever. So, how's it going with finding the mystery girl?"

"Unfruitful. It happened there were no CCTV cameras in that garage so there's no trace of who got into my car"

"Sad"

"But I've asked them to get me a record of everyone who got into that club, so I was hoping that when I get the list, I will try to find who else went to the club with a Maserati that night"

"Can't you just let it go?" She asks carelessly. "People have one night stands everyday, it's not something to get so worked up about"

"I'm not "people", so I will get worked up until I find the girl with whom I had a one night stand with. Case closed!"

"Yes sir!"

"I heard you made it to the finals of the Fashion Queen Contest" I ask, changing the topic.

"Ugh!" She laments as she covers her face with her palms. "Don't even remind me about it, mum was hard on me. I almost backed out"

"She only wants you to be ready for what is ahead. She wants you to be a great leader someday."

"I know, but I just wish she can chill sometimes. "This design looks pathetic!", "That dress is embarrassed that people have to look at it!", "Get that eye sore away from me!" She says imitating my mum and I can't help but laugh. "Geez, I actually cried today!"

"But you made it the final, didn't you?"

"Must I cry before I make it to the finals?"

"Do you want me to tell you about my experience with dad when I first got employed at the law firm?" I ask with a raised brow and she violently shakes her head.

"No thanks, I don't wanna cry"

"And look where I am today. I am the best Attorney in the entire nation and that's because dad gave me the best training. Mum is only training you to be the best, that's all they ever want for us, the best!"

"I know, I know... but..."

"No buts, you are going to bear with mum, obey her every command and I bet you that you'll love where that will get you."

"Asher, you can break out of hell with your words. You've got quite a motivational speech there"

"Just one of my many charms" I brag and she rolls her eyes.

"Charms my ass," She says as she rises from the couch. "I'm off to bed, I have to be at work by seven am tomorrow, else mum is going to strip me off my current position in the competition. Good night"

"Good night cupcake" She plants a gentle kiss on my cheek and exits the bedroom.

Ace and I have got to talk.

ONE MONTH LATER

MRS COLE'S POV

"I've got a job for both of you" I announce to the two very muscular guys standing before me.

I think I have laid low for quite some time now and it was about time I executed my plans.

The wedding is still going to hold as planned, but my son has grown to despise Sophia. He wouldn't even talk or look in her direction whenever they are together and it's all because of that Luna called girl. Even if Ace and Sophia get married, that marriage won't last long. Sooner or later Ace will file for a divorce so he could be with Luna. That will only happen over my dead body.

Luna has to get out of the picture and now is the right time to do it.

I pick up her photo from my office table and walk closer to the men.

They are both mafia goons and this job will be perfect for them.

"Here" I hand over the phone to one of them. "Her name is Luna Ramora Angelis and she's pregnant. I don't know how you are going to do it and I don't care, all I want is her gone! She has to be history before this week runs out. Can I trust you to do that for me?"

"This is a piece of cake!"

"Good. I have transferred half the amount you requested to your bank account, when the job is done, you get the rest. Is that satisfactory?"

"Yes ma'am"

"You can leave" They both exit the office and I walk over to the table in the sitting area where I pour myself a glass of wine and make myself comfortable on a couch as I sip the wine with a sinister smile plastered on my face.

Wine, they say, goes well with treachery.

I am going to mess Diana up.

I wanted to go for poison, but that will seem too obvious. If Luna drinks the poison and dies, they are going to carry out an autopsy on her and find out what killed her and an investigation will be launched. I don't want to get caught up in any of that, so I chose to leave it to the mafia goons.

These guys very well Know how to commit crimes without leaving any traces and this will be nothing but a piece of cake to them as they said.

By the end of the week, Luna will be history and everything will go back to normal.

I would have gotten my revenge on that self righteous mother of hers and my wish of Ace marrying Sophia will be fulfilled.

That is what they get for trying to disrupt my plans.
